This place is the absolute worst. I brought my newly adopted rescue here on referral. I didn't want her crated. They sold me some bs about how she would have her own suite and someone would spend the night with her and they would sleep in a bed together every night. BS. NEVER HAPPENED. I looked at the camera around 10pm. She was sitting in a room with four other dogs, clearly exhausted, head hanging. No bed. No people. Concrete floor. Nothing. I checked again and again. Same scene. Hour after hour. I called a zillion times. Nobody answered. Finally the next day I got the owner on the phone. She says " Oh. Sorry. Someone new was working." Seriously? Seriously?! We canceled our trip. Came home early. Got our girl and took her home. No apology from the owner, not that it mattered. No refund. Not that I cared about the money at this point. It was about our girl. Owner is a piece of crap. All about the money. Cares Zero about your pet. BEWARE! I would give negative infinity stars for this place if I could. read more

Alfie's is absolutely the best. We have trusted them 3+ x a week to care for our beautiful and sweet pointer, Charlie, for years. He waits by the door in the morning excited to jump in the car, hopeful well he will have a day-of-play with his fur friends. The staff is polite and knows everyone by name. Alphie's Poochie Parlor is awesome! The staff is friendly and personable and its evident they love what they do. I brought my dog there for boarding for a weekend. It was the first time I boarded her, so I was worried that my dog would be depressed because she has never been away from me. Alphie's even sent me pics while she was there and when I picked her up, she seemed very content and happy, which made me happy! They offer doggie day care and boarding, and their rates are very reasonable. I'll be taking my dog to Alphie's Poochie Parlor from now on. I can't believe it's taken me so long to write about how much we love Alfie's! We started taking our girl, Ivy, there when she was a puppy. She had a bad first experience elsewhere, and we were both a bit hesitant, but Rose and her staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable about leaving Ivy in their care. From calling the vet when I forgot the paperwork, to letting her sleep with the overnight person during her first boarding stay, they do their work with excellence and take great pride in what they do. I am one of *those* dog moms, and I never have to worry when we take her to Alfie's. I absolutely love that they have a person there 24/7, and that it's crate free, but most of all, the staff truly embodies great service. We can't imagine our lives without them! read more

Been taking our dog here for boarding for years. Have never had a problem. Oh yeah the hoarse bark of course when we pick her up from barking. But never any illness or weight loss. Always has her vaccinations before she stays. I like its manned 24/7. Changed to Alfie's because of Camp K9, CCH choking her by dragging her by her collar. No wonder she never wanted to go in there. Had a meet and greet set for the morning. Arrived a few minutes before set time. When we walked in the place smelled like pee and poo. The place was filthy, looks like they haven't washed the greeting area since the day they opened up. I had to use the loudspeaker they had set up to call the staff and when i was greeted it wasn't even by the one who was doing the evaluation, so we still had to wait. I handed over my papers and they took my dog. I left and came back 4 hours later. They gave me my dog but did not ask if i had any questions, did not tell me about their facility and charged me $25 for the Meet and Greet. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS. read more

Something is off about this place.. took my baby here for her evaluation and everything seemed "fine"- never got a tour or was OFFERED a tour which was very odd to me. Took her back for her first real day and had some weird gut feelings. She was there for almost the entire day, and when I got there to pick her up she was NOT herself. She was "excited" to see me but in a very anxious way. All I was told is "she did well". My puppy LOVES playing with other dogs, and meeting new people. She has a big personality, but ever since bringing her here she is very anxious and almost doesn't want to go anywhere. Almost all the doggy daycares around have cameras, and this one does not! You don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Are they actually playing majority of the day or being secluded? She is also not one to be "itchy" and she could not stop scratching all night. With the smell of the place, I'm not too sure how clean it is. Make sure you do your research and ask around. I read a few reviews but knew every place is going to have the good and the bad so I gave it a shot.. but now the more I hear from personal stories from others it is all NOT good. I know some dogs have great experience here, but I won't be back based on the secretive vibe it gave me, and hearing that dogs health is not placed first in this business. read more

I've been taking my dog here for more than 8 years now and he loves it! The staff is caring and knowledgeable. They truly love what they do and it shows. I have referred many friends and family over the years and they are all regulars now. The new location is amazing, they even have a pool (for the dogs). I have been taking my dog here since she was a puppy and have had such great luck with them...everyone that works there is friendly, their rates are the best around, and they have your dogs wellness in mind at all times. I love knowing that my dog is well taken care of when I drop her off. I have even found that I would rather leave my dog with them than my family when I go on vacation since she is so comfortable there and loves having the other dogs around to play with. The documentation for our dogs annual tests did not indicate the results of a fecal test, so we called our vet for answer, the test revealed a negative for canine fecal matter, but positive for other mammals. We called Alfies to leave that message as did the vet tech. Neither call was returned over a 3 day period. While visiting for a tour, my wife was offered job as a receptionist. Clearly this kennel is understaffed to the point of losing business, We were impressed with the facilities and the staff and wished we could have left our dog there. read more

Alfie's is a great place to board, but I recently had a bad experience there. The owner was very rude and abrupt when I picked up my dog, who recently had surgery, early. I called ahead of time that I would be late because my flight was delayed and she was not expecting me. It was a very rude encounter and I won't be bringing my dog back. read more

After wondering who on earth used a thing called doggie daycare, I found myself eating my words and calling Alfie's in July 2015 to ask how things worked. After losing our 16.5 year old border collie mix to cancer in April, we adopted a 9 month old foxhound mix in June of 2015. It turned out that Annabelle was not a dog to be left to her own devices. With my work schedule less flexible than it had been previously, I needed a place for Annabelle to run and play with other dogs so she didn't destroy my house when she got bored and lonely. Alfie's was a wonderful place for her to go. She loved the staff and being with other dogs in an open free play setting. Owner Rose Cotter has done her job well in selecting staff who love dogs and treat them as their own, with kindness, respect and a genuine appreciation for their individual personalities. When we were devastated to learn this fall that our vibrant, playful puppy had actually been born with only one kidney and was well into full kidney failure with her remaining dysfunctional kidney, Rose and staff still welcomed Annabelle with open arms and went out of their way to accommodate her now special needs. They were also very attune to behavior changes and quick to report on how her day had gone. Annabelle's health rapidly declined in December, and we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl before Christmas. Telling Rose and staff was very emotional, and we received such incredible support from them in our loss. We so appreciated the fact that they had loved our girl and considered her part of their family. We will absolutely be back at some point when we are ready for another dog, and we would (and do) enthusiastically recommend Alfie's Poochie Playlot without hesitation to other pet parents looking for doggie daycare and/or boarding (we used both). read more

They are so accommodating there.This is our 2nd time using them and they go beyond the call of duty to make sure your dog is well taken care of.Our second dog passed away in December and this dog has never been alone-ever.They were very sensitive to that and made sure he felt comfortable.He was excited when we walked in the door which says a lot.I would highly recommend Alfie's! read more

I was looking online to find a a cheaper place to get my dog groomed since I usually get stuck paying $50 for a small dog. I saw their site online and figured I would give them a try. When I called they told me they were new to grooming and were offering $10 off for new clients so I thought it was a pretty good deal. When I looked online it showed $35 for a big dog, $25 for a medium sized dog, and then $20 for a small. I have a shih tzu/bichon frise mix. So she can be considered a small/medium sized dog. When I dropped her off I was kind of uncertain. The place had a weird smell and wasn't the cleanest but I still decided to go ahead and have her groomed because she was desperately in need of a good trim! When I went back to pick her up I asked how she did and they said fine. Then they told me it would be $35 and I told them that couldn't be right according to their site and what the owner had told me over the phone. They then went to tell me my dog was aggressive so they had to charge more and that they kept a muzzle on her the whole time. Considering the breed of my dog, she has a small trachea and is not allowed to have a muzzle on her. I have also never been told by the 2 other dog groomers I take her to that she was ever aggressive by any means! When I told the groomer that my dog was not allowed to have a muzzle on her because of her breed she just made excuses. First she claimed my dog was a different breed from what I had told her, wrote on the paper work, as well as shown them the papers I had from when I purchased her. She then said the muzzle was oversized and that she let her have plenty of water breaks so that it was okay. No shih tzu/bichon frise is allowed to be muzzled because of the size of their trachea! I have been informed of this by my vet as well as both of the dog groomers I have used. These people know nothing about dogs or what they are doing! They lowered the price to $31 which is not what I was told over the phone or listed on their site. I will never take my dog here again or recommend them to anyone!! They do not care for other people's dogs properly. If you care about your dogs you should look somewhere else. There are plenty of other local dog groomers, day cares, and boarding places for your animals! read more

Rose and her staff are absolutely fantastic. They treat my boy, Scooby, as one of their own. Scooby attends daycare at Alfie's three days a week in addition to boarding there when we go out of town. My dogs are my kids and I don't trust just anyone to care for them. You can count on Alfie's to take the best care of your furbaby. They get lots of socialization, exercise, playtime and swimming in the brand new pool. They are also very conscious of when any of the pups are tired and need some quiet time. We absolutely LOVE Alfie's and we love Rose! Most importantly, Scooby LOVES Alfie's and the entire staff. It's his second home! read more

when you pay to leave your dog here they lock half of them in tiny suites for the entire day and only let them out when they take them outside to go to the bathroom. they are literally in their "suites" the entire day except for 5 minutes to go to the bathroom. it's messed up and a waste of money, your dog would be better off staying at home and it saves you money. read more

We have boarded our dog here on a few separate occasions and recently had a run of bad experiences. The customer service is exceptional. They cater to people who view their dogs as part of the family and it seems to be an environment where your dog will be watched by genuine dog lovers. However, the last couple of times that I have boarded my dog he has come back sick (diarrhea and vomiting). Both occasions were short trips - only 1 to 2 nights and it generally takes him about a day to a day and a half to get back to normal. After the first incident, I called to complain and the owner was very concerned and responsive. She had great follow up and promised to provide some type of refund but that never happened. I brushed it off as an isolated incident and brought my dog back again. Now that it has happened again, I won't ever bring him back. I personally do not believe this is a coincident. Prior to us moving to the suburbs our dog was accustomed to going to doggie daycare on a daily basis at a great place in Chicago and he never had any issues. I am not sure what has been the cause of the issues but I do know that it is directly related to him staying under there care. read more
