Nina goes crazy when we are even 5 miles away. She knows where she's going and can't wait to see Adam. It's funny when I leave her somewhere to run to the store She can whine, but with Adam she doesn't look back at me in the least. He gives her the long run because while there she'll run back and forth the entire time outside. The great thing-she misses me when she sees me again and then she sleeps for 2 days she's so exhausted. This is her vacation too! read more

my dog was definitely like DRUGGED without consent of any kind. He now has a terrible eye infection and he is usually very affectionate and cuddly and when I picked him he wanted to be left alone. He is usually always full of energy but, he was tired and swaying back and forth even when we were home. I will not be staying here again. I don't know where to begin but our dog was left with Adam for 5 days and when we went to pick him up all seemed ok until we heard him bark. We don't know what happened but do know whatever it was, it happened there. Our little guy (26 lbs) now sounds so pitiful. He sounds like his larynx was damaged. We are waiting to see if it heals on its own. My recommendation is to find somewhere else to board your fur baby. Unfortunately we didn't have a choice to board him with Adam because our normal boarding facility and many others were not doing boarding because of staffing issues. read more

It's clear Adam, the owner and manager, puts the welfare of his charges as his top priority. Before I left my two dogs with him for the first time, he gave me a tour of the facilities. Everything was ship shape and Bristol fashion. I picked my dogs up after four days and they appeared happy and at ease. If the need arises, I will use Dutch Pet Motel again. read more

The owner Adam is absolutely amazing with our dogs, they are always excited to see Adam and they like being there. Our Shepard Zeus just stayed with Adam this past week, his stomach flipped and he developed bloat. This is an emergency situation and we were out of town with bad cell reception. Adam could not get in touch with us, so he rushed Zeus to the Vet ER and took responsibility and saved his life. Adam had noticed that Zeus wasn't being himself and thankfully for Adam's knowledge and expertise of animals, he knew there was a serious problem and was able to get him there on time. If you want a place to take your dogs that you'll know they'll be OK and you can trust who's taking care of them, you need to take them to see Adam. Anyone else may have mistaken Zeus as just being tired and could've missed this terrible situation. There are many places you can take your animals to and for the cheapest price they will not interact with your dog at all. The next level of pricing enables your dog to have a walking session with somebody and for the highest price someone will play with your animal as well. Adam on the other hand interacts with your dog or dogs on a daily basis. He walks them, plays with them and has a great relationship with them. I Will never take my dogs anywhere else. As for the yo-yo saying someone drugged his dog, that is a totally ignorant accusation! read more

My dog hates when we go on vacation. She can always tell when we're leaving and knows she has to stay somewhere else. When we get home, she will seemingly hold it against us for a few days afterwards, but that did not happen after coming here. She seemed to have a good time, and the employees said good things about her. Next time we go on vacation, I am certain we will be bringing our dog back here. read more

Took my German Shepard in for weekend,great family dog but HATES other dogs..immediately she took little tour to get comfortable and we left..after picking up the dog owner said her and another dog got together..AND the most hateful dog towards other dogs FOUND a friend,never would I believe it was possible..they went out together and ran around like they lived in the same house.This man did something I still can't believe,gave my dog a buddy to hang with that her normal depression she gets if we leave was very minimal,she usual doesn't even eat while we're gone but she did and was a happy hound when we got her home. My husband and I have left our two babies, a sheltie and spitz mix, here a couple of times now and it's been great! Our spitz is very energetic and needs to exercise to be manageable and I love that there's an option for him to go out for long walks. My sheltie is a very timid and nervous dog and even she doesn't mind it here! The owner is wonderful and he clearly loves dogs and what he does. He is very knowledgeable and great with our little guys. We get them baths on the day they're being picked up and they come out well brushed and smelling great. Yet again our dogs had a blast at the Dutch Pet Motel. I was pleasantly surprised when they actually ran into the facility when we arrived and were so excited to see Adam again. And again when we came to pick them up they didn't want to leave. It was clear that they really enjoyed their time there. The Dutch Pet Motel truly is a fun vacation for them. The facility is fantastic with all types of dogs and especially fantastic with senior and special needs dogs. They don't hesitate to cater to pretty much any request you have regarding how your dog likes their food prepared etc. Ours have a few quirks that Adam does not mind handling at all. Another thing we love about the facility is how incredibly reasonable the prices are, especially given the accommodations are so nice compared to many other boarding facilities or vets offices that do boarding. I love being able to drop our fur babies off knowing that they will have a great time and are well cared for and safe while we are gone. I never once have worried while they've been there, which is priceless. I highly recommend checking the Dutch Pet Motel out and giving your pet a chance to enjoy themselves anytime they need to be boarded. read more

Fantastic experience! Two of my dogs are pit mix rescues and Adam had no issues with that (so many places don't want to take them). I explained on the phone that one of them has anxiety issues and isn't always great with other dogs. Adam had me bring him by the day before boarding to let him explore and when drop off time came, my pup had no problems. They came home happy and tired and obviously well cared for. Will 100% use Dutch Pet Motel again! read more

My family and I went on vacation for 5 days and we left our dog Rocco. When we picked him up you could tell he had a blast! He was well rested, well fed and had lots of exercise. Had our 3 "girls" here over the weekend and as usual they were well taken care of. Our youngest is 7 months old and this was her first time with Adam. This is the best boarding house! Adam immediately put my mind at ease when we dropped off our dog. The last place we boarded our dog was terrible, my dog came back half his size. At Dutch pet motel my dog came back looking healthy and most importantly happy! You get the feeling that they truly love animals and take care of your pet as if it is their own! The folks at Dutch Pet Motel love dogs and cats. I have been boarding my three Wheaten terriers with them for three years. They always come home happy and in excellent health, although they look a bit wistful at the idea of coming home. I cannot say enough about the courteous, warm and personal service and the loving care they give to pets. They are honest and trustworthy. In addition to excellent and fun care for my dogs, they also provide peace of mind so my wife and I can get out of town without any worries. This is a huge gift. They are the real deal. The Motel was recommended to me by a friend and she raved and raved about it. The owner, Adam, is quite good with dogs - she calls him the dog whisperer - and dogs who stay here get to stay in a country setting. You can pay a little for your dog to get "leisurely nature walks" or 20-minute one-on-one throw and fetch sessions. Adam lives right next door, so he's always around. He loves dogs and treated mine very well. She was in a great mood when I picked her up after nine days and jumped all over him when he sat down on the floor to say goodbye to her. The inside quarters leave a bit to be desired, but I don't think the dogs care about that! AND all of this for $21/day, at least for dogs. Give the Dutch a try! read more

I do not recommend this place at all nor will I ever do so. The reason is because the owner, Adam, is a real jerk as demonstrated by his reaction to me when I picked up my dog. The scenario goes like this: I previously visited this facility to make sure it was above board for my dog. I made two trips to make sure everything seemed all right which it did. So, I boarded my dog there thinking I was going to be gone 7 or 8 days. As it turned out, I returned a little early on a Saturday. I called ahead to find out if it was okay to pick up my dog at 4:30P that day. I got the okay from Adam, the owner. I arrived at 4P. Adam came storming out of his house ranting and raving about how inconsiderate I was for coming early and after hours. I told him that I'd wait or return in a half hour. He continued with his tirade. Unfortunately, I responded in kind with not very nice words. In my recollection, during one of my pre-boarding visits I thought the closing time was 5P on Saturday but obviously, I was wrong. In addition, I started to write a check for the boarding costs and started up again with his obnoxiousness and pointing to wall saying can't you read. Apparently, the sign changed from credit cards will be charged an additional 3% for usage. I'm not sure about the no check policy. Anyway, he said cash or credit cards only, no checks. I'm curious as to why he wants cash. I can guess. Finally, to add insult to injury, when I got home from the facility, there was a message from Adam being a jerk again. This guy has real stress management issues. The bottom line is that he is the loser. I had booked my dog for a week in October, 2-3 weeks in February and a week in April. As an aside, my dog is came home very traumatized from staying there. Fortunately, I have found another reputable boarding place. The people are very nice and respectful. read more

Adam is a dog whisperer. We have taken our dogs there for years. They jump out of the car and run to the front door. They cared for our Charlie, who had medical issues and had to be given subcutaneous liquids twice a day. He did great. I love taking my animals there and I always feel that they are safe. Also, they do a great job with washing my dogs. I would never go anywhere else. Before we took our dogs there, I asked for a tour..and they were happy to give me one. The animals adore the staff. Over the years, they have made many upgrades since they bought the place, and I know Adam keeps up on the latest in animal care. You simply can't go wrong here. read more

I live in Chicago and make the 90 minute-2 hour round-trip drive out to Crete to leave my dog at the Dutch Pet Motel whenever I travel for more than a few days. Initially I started taking my dog there because daily prices are considerably lower than they are in the city and I also wanted my dog to have outdoor space to run, but I have continued to do so because I really trust the Dutch Pet Motel's owner, Adam. I have kind of a difficult dog: he's hyperactive, often aggressive towards other dogs, and acts out if he's not getting the attention he wants (I promise he has good qualities, too!). Adam has always been very good in dealing with my dog's personality quirks and even came up with some new ways of handling them. He taught my dog how to run on a treadmill (!!) and encouraged me to buy a treadmill myself. Now my dog runs up to 5 miles a day on the treadmill I have at home, and the extra exercise he gets has significantly improved some of his behavioral issues. This is really way above and beyond the care my dog has had at any other kennel I've been to. When I pick my dog up, he's always happy, healthy (and tired), and Adam volunteers all sorts of short stories about what my dog did during his stay, if he ran on the treadmill or just in the yard, which other dogs he got along with (or more likely didn't), etc. This really shows the personalized attention that Adam gives to the dogs he looks after. read more
