We ordered seabass, fettuccine Alfredo, and grilled vegetables with a bottle of red wine. The fettuccine was great with the truffle shavings! They also prepared the fettuccine with cheese table side, which made for a nice visual treat. I enjoyed their fettuccine as it was very thin and the truffle shavings really took it up a notch! I would highly recommend having it with the truffles! I personally really enjoyed their sea bass! It also came with a crisp skin left on top of the seabass, which gave it more of a crunch to better complement the seabass itself! Wonderful dish! Service was very attentive throughout the whole evening! The noise level was moderate depending on the number of tables seated during your meal. It was a full house while I was there so conversations were a little difficult at times. They also have walls of photos of famous people that have dined at their restaurant. Certainly a nice conversation starter while you wait for your meal to arrive.
Food here is amazing! I went to eat all over Italy and this restaurant has to be one of my top 5. Service is immaculate and the food is great tasting as well. The price however, is bit on the higher side. My favorite thing about here is their home made olive oil. Their olive oil is probably the best olive oil I ever tasted! Gives a kick of sweet and savory at the same time. Good job Alfredo alla Scrofa!
I stumbled across Alfredo alla Scrofa on my first visit to Rome 11 years ago. I remember the tableside Fettuccine Alfredo preparation being amazing. I remember the waiter preparing my Alfredo tableside using a lot of butter and other ingredients and mixing it all in front of me. The performance was memorable. Enough so that I desired to return here with my family to share in this experience. We came this time with a group of four. We all ordered the legendary Fettuccine Alfredo and this time the waiter preparing our Alfredo simply added cheese and pasta water to the pasta and mixed it up and served it. Disappointing. This would have been a 5 star review but I downgraded Alfredo alla Scrofa to 3 stars due to their shortening and cheapening that experience and the value you get for the price paid. Also in the value paid consideration is the actual price paid for your meal. This place is fairly pricey for just pasta in Rome. At 25 Euro per person for this dish with not even complimentary bread included, it makes for a bad deal. Was the Alfredo good? Yes. Even better than most I've tried but not 25 Euro worth. The bread - most places provide complimentary bread like a Mexican restaurant provides complimentary chips and salsa. Not here. You have to pay 4 Euro for bread. And you only get 4 pieces! What?!!! That is 1 Euro per piece. We chose "Roman Pizza" bread and it was simply Focaccia bread and not even large pieces. Ripoff! We also shared a tiramisu for dessert and had a bottle of white wine with our dinner. The meal was good and the restaurant well appointed and staffed. It's just not worth the hype and the price in Rome.

Probably the best mozzarella i've ever had in my life, however i added olive oil, vinegar, and salt for extra flavor. Then there's the famous fettuccini alfredo. The story goes, over a 100 years ago, a chef named Alfredo had a wife who was giving birth. She had a difficult delivery and was very sick afterwards. She told her husband she couldnt eat anything, and asked him to prepare a dish that she might be able to have without getting sick. And so the most famous pasta dish was born. Its Very different from what the rest of the world considers fettuccini alfredo. In the original recipe, There is no sauce. Its just butter & parmesan. Very plain. At some point in history, some chef decided to add a little sauce, and thats the dish everyone is familiar with. This one is still tasty but a bit dry and basic.
Some of the best Fettuccine Alfredo I've ever had. We started with the Deep Fried Meatballs with Green Sauce and although I know they're very good they weren't my favorite. I did love the Seabass Mugnaia it was in a buttery sauce with carrots- try it! Finished with the Pavlova that was yummy! Service was just ok (our waiter mixed up courses not bringing them in the order I wanted yet telling me this is how most people like it ). The ambiance is festive - tables are close together and it is lively day and night.

Just a small walk from Piazza Navona, there is this cute restaurant known to be the birthing place of Alfredo. Now... is this a tourist trap? Possibly. Is it worth trying once in your life? Sure. If you plan on going to Rome again, would you go? Ehhhh. You are definitely paying for the experience of them making the pasta in front of you... I guess. The pasta itself (the consistency) was great. But the flavor? Not sure. I didn't find it to be that flavorful, it was more watery than anything. She said it was just butter and Parmesan. Which... that's exactly what it was. No salt, no garlic... when I asked for Parmesan on the side, she made a face of disappointment, maybe? The fried artichoke had more flavor in my opinion. Out of all the restaurants we tried, this was the 'priciest' and blandest. Just know you're paying for the experience rather than the food.
Before leaving for Rome we were told to go to Alfredo's, the originator of Fettuccine Alfredo...then when we got there we were told by two of our tour guides that we really should go...so we did. I'll admit, I don't remember who else had what, but I had the fettuccine Alfredo and I am pretty sure I will never be able to eat it again...it was just so damn good. Seriously, if you want great food, great service, and an all-around great ambiance and experience have dinner here.
The fettuccine Alfredo was great and the outdoor seating was quite pretty, and I loved hearing about the origin of the dish. My one complaint with this place was that the original waiter we had audibly sighed when I ordered it, and continued to act annoyed throughout the interaction. The other servers were fairly nice, but certainly not exemplary service for the prices we paid.
This place definitely knows how to make Alfredo. I will forever not be able to have Alfredo anywhere that compares. Staff were great. The restaurant is so cute, brings you back to the very beginning with old photos on the walls and newer ones of who has frequented the restaurant. This place is a must for anyone visiting Rome.

When I found out we were visiting Roma this summer I remembered Fettuccini Alfredo was invented here! I immediately added trying the restaurant where it originated on my bucket list. I am sad to say ... it's the worst thing I've crossed off my bucket list. I know that Fettuccini Alfredo is made different than in the states... which I thought would be a plus. Pasta, butter, and cheese... sounds perfect! Sadly I left super underwhelmed. The dish lacked flavor of any kind and I even added truffles! How could this be?! The staff all seemed very new so I'll give them to benefit of the doubt on a few blunders we experienced. Overall I'm glad I can say I have tried the location of origin now, but that's pretty much the only reason I can see for visiting this restaurant. I take that back, their sommelier was great! He recommended the perfect champagne for us. Other than that if you're short on meals save your tummy for somewhere else. read more

Wonderful night to enjoy with family at this restaurant near the tourist sites. Servers were attentive and place was lovely and busy. Server was informative of the history behind the "Alfredo" and the demonstration was satisfactory. My family was a little overwhelmed with the cheese flavor but I loved it and the noodles were sliced perfectly. Probably will not return due to the wait and popularity but definitely something to brag about back home. Ciao. read more

This place was excellent. We were seated right away as we head reservations. Service was excellent and the food was to die for. Of course we had the fettuccine Alfredo, chicken cacciatore, and the meatballs. Paired with an excellent wine that the server assisted us with. read more

Definitely the best noodles I had in Rome. Food was good, best fettuccine I have ever tasted on the world and is a must get. It's super creamy and the noodles are super thin and light. The cheese flavor of amazing. However the good review stops there. Everything else we got was terrible and wasn't fresh. The seafood tasted like it came out of a can and was very smelly. Worst of all was the service. We had a reservation but it took 40 mins to get our menus and we weren't even offered the drink menu. After ordering, our food took another 45 min to arrive and after finishing, we waited another 30 min to finally get the check. We saw several tables around us change 3 times before we finally left. The table next to us commented that the restaurant doesn't really like ethnic groups. So definitely was the best pasta I have ever had, but didn't think it was worth it to deal with the service. read more
Alfredo all Scrofa....the birthplace of fettucine alfredo! Me and my wife visited this restaurant during our honeymoon last month. We had made a reservation, as this place is ALWAYS busy. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. There is a walk-up line, but I overheard some people saying they had been waiting for over an hour. To drink, me and my wife shared a bottle of wine, which was recommended by our server. It was pretty good honestly. As for food, we each got a main dish and shared an appetizer, (we ended up sharing everything anyways.) To start, we got the Tuna Carpaccio. It was SO GOOD. Every bite was flavorful. It may in fact be the best tuna carpaccio I have ever had. For the main dishes, I got the Fettucine Alfredo and my wife got the Risotto. The risotto was pretty good, my wife loves risotto, so she knew she wanted to get this. As for the main event, the fettucine alfredo...I was a little bit disappointed. I wasn't too impressed with how it tasted. The server came to our table and mixed the cheese and the pasta and did this whole presentation, which was nice, but the overall taste just wasn't that good. It tasted very chalky, and the pasta was way too soft, not al dente where it has that nice bite to it. I was very displeased with this dish. For this place being the birth place of fettucine alfredo, you'd expect it to taste way better. Regardless, we HAD to get it, as this is what the restaurant is known for. I don't recommend getting this, but if you're going to come here, you have to get it, just so you can see if it's worth it. The restaurant is very bright, which was kind of a buzzkill. The lights were on everywhere, and there wasn't too much of an intimate feel. Our table was super close to the other tables, and there really wasn't any privacy at all. The service was decent, but could've been better. Overall, I was expecting the visit to be better, but it barely met my expectations, I would say that it didn't even meet them at all. I probably wouldn't come back here. If there's anything you take away from this review, it's: #1 Make a reservation ahead of time #2 The fettucine alfredo isn't the best read more

We enjoyed our lunch here. Food was yummy. Service was great and so kind. Allowed us to purchase a bottle of their water even though they don't sell them. Ambiance was lovely. Lighting was just right. Dont prefer the dark restaurants. read more

Came here for the history of Fettuccine Alfredo. We came without a reservations during lunch time and didn't have any problem getting seated quickly. We had the Fettuccine Alfredo of course and the Carbonara (my first time trying it). Both were good but we actually liked the Carbonara better. Their champagne that we purchased was also very good. I recommend coming here for the historic Alfredo and enjoy their other tasty foods. read more

Visited this restaurant because I heard so much about it. For being the birthplace of Fettucine Alfredo, food was alright at best compared to other more local, hole-in-the wall spots. There's always a line to get a table here despite how the food is so make reservations beforehand. read more
Had a reservation and skipped the line. This place is worth the hype. The Alfredo is subtle yet full of flavor. High quality olive oil for dipping. The steak was very tasty and cooked to perfection. It's a nice restaurant, good for a date night or special occasion. read more
I have to be honest this place was talked up big time by some friends and to me it was just okay. My sister was referred here and it wasn't her favorite either. The burrata was nice, beef tartar just okay. Sea bass was decent but not the best. Hated the fried meatballs and chicken cacciatore. No thank you. We also had a risotto eh. For wine, Amarone was beautiful, Chianti not so much. For the grand finale, the fettuccine Alfredo... it was just okay. I had a better one in Miami and they prepared it in the wheel of cheese. Here not the case as suggested but if you read my reviews... find amazing cacio e pepe and carbonara elsewhere. Don't forget the rigatoni! If you want pasta, try that! It looked good coming out but I can't comment. Presentation was nice, service was average. Tiramisu, not my nephews favorite *and he had like 6 or 7 already, so he's literally a pro! Sorry to be harsh, but had much higher expectations as this was 3-4 times the cost in relation to others around Trevi and Trastevere! Decide for yourself. 50 stars to the food, the service, and the ambiance. Alfredo alla Scrofa is the birthplace of fettucine alfredo! The dish is made at the table, tossing the fresh fettucine noodles with butter and cheese until it makes the most delicious, rich creamy sauce perfectly coating every noodle. Absolutely outstanding! I loved every bite of my fettucine, and I also had a green salad, which was delightful as well. Service was terrific! read more
The original home of Fettuccine Alfredo! The service was incredible very attentive and helpful. Made the Fettuccine at the Table! The atmosphere was beautiful old Italian styling. Looked very high end. The crowds were large because of the quality. The food was fantastic! We got a meatball appetizer ( with mashed potatoes and pickle. Amazing!!then we both got the fettuccine Alfredo and it was so great. Panna cotta for dessert was excellent. Add to the some great red wine and it was an evening to remember. read more

This place was absolutely amazing. We had a reservation and we got there 30min early they sat us right away even tho they had a long line waiting with no reservations. We ordered the cheese sampler with pumpkin jam which was OMG delicious. Just try it! I promise you won't be dissatisfied. Wife & I had the Alfredo which was 10 out of 10 so yummy & cheesy. The noodles are a lil softer that I would've liked but still good. We had a bottle of moscato for $26 it was delicious!!! I totally recommend this place it definitely beats Olive Garden. read more

Alfredo is very famous for inventing fettuccine Alfredo. His namesake pasta design is one of the first things on the menu and will run you €22 as of August 2023. It's delicious! The pasta and sauce are delicate and so very smooth. The other partas on the menu are good and cost €20 or below. Don't enter planning to split something. Staff requires everyone to have a meal on their plate so you can't split the cost of one dish only. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. read more

The alfredo origin story was great to hear as part of a gastronomic history and cuisine. I would recommend groups just order one alfredo to share and get other menu items. The alfredo tasted very cheesy as usual. We also got the three tomatoes and burrata pasta which was delicious! The pasta was a perfect Al dente and the noodles were thick, with a light sauce to finish it off. The mixed vegetables were decent; while they were cut up, they could work on the presentation. I've had better in other restaurants around the area. read more
Tips: - make sure you have a reservation - all the Alfredo wines are stellar - get something other than the Alfredo, in addition to it. Alfredo alla Scrofa is apparently where Fettucine Alfredo was invented. Unfortunately it is where it was born, and where it will die. I was very disappointed with the Alfredo, but I understand and respect the birthplace of the dish. Would I come here again? Yes. It is like eating a piece of history. But I must say it has come a long way, and other places do it much better. The Alfredo: - 22 euros, overpriced for just the food - it is prepared table side, where the waiter explains the origin of the dish. He mostly just mixes and portions it for you. Nothing fancy in the preparation. - everyone orders the dish, so I'm sure the waiter has to say the same blurb hundreds of times a month, unenthusiastically and without passion. - noodles were over cooked and it lacked any salt, pepper or any real depth. Really just sauce and noodles. Make sure to get other dishes, you will get tired and feel like you need more protein if you just get the Alfredo. What was great: - Ambiance, aesthetic and service - Wine selection I would come here again with other friends; think of it as a historical experience rather than fine dining. I can get a cacio e pepe for half the price, and much more tasty. read more

Very clean and popular restaurant make sure you get reservations if you want to eat inside. Food was great I would caution that you really need to love cheese to get through a whole order of fettuccine alfredo. I recommend splitting it with someone and getting a second entree. The best thing there was the fried artichoke. My only knock to this is that they definitely cater to tourists so if you are wanting true authentic local spot this is not it. But either way the rest of the food was great and would come again. read more
