The buffet is small and they charge per person and drinks. There are no servers, so you do not have to leave a tip and there are no servers lurking around to refill your drinks. This buffet takes self serve to another level with their styrofoam dishes and plastic utensils. The selection is not as large as other buffets in the city, but they do have good food for the most part. There were many dishes I want to try, so I had a bit of everything. The gumbo was absolutely delicious. Egg roll was decent, fried fish fried lightly and not dry, and even their fried chicken (actually a chicken tender) was juicy, seasoned nicely, and was better quality than raising cane's and even other places. Their cabbages, sausages, mashed potatoes, and salisbury steaks were all pretty good. I really did not have anything to complain about that I have tried. Eating at so many different places around the city, lets me appreciate small local places like this. The food is so cheap, but still a great lunch. I've been getting used to bbq places bringing you small wimpy ribs, but this says two ribs on the menu it's more like three and some change they're so big. The Garden District Association is a non profit neighborhood organization dedicated to improving…read morethe Garden District and maintaining its unique character. This group councils its members to limit the amount of paving and hard scaping on our properties, and to plant ground cover for better rain water absorption. The GDA has planted ground cover on the Washington Avenue side of the parkway along Lafayette Cemetery, planted crepe myrtles along Jackson Avenue and maintains live oaks along St. Charles Avenue. The GDA will cover 2/3 of the cost of any live oaks that property owners wish to plant along their parkways, and cover the cost of watering and professional landscaping for one year, provided there aren't any overhead wires to contend with. The GDA is also concerned with prioritizing local businesses along Magazine Street. Currently, New Orleans city council has very few restraints in place for zoning along Magazine Street, and the GDA is always making recommendations to insure that this part of the city doesn't lose its NOLA feel by allowing in too many national brands. Graffiti abatement is also something the association has become involved with since 2010. Members enjoy annual get togethers like Summer Splash, a swim and grill party at Camp Pleasant, Halloween Under The Oaks, Spring and Autumn member meetings, usually held at a board member's home, and a dinner at Commander's Palace (that last one is a fund raiser, so comes at an additional cost). Joining is a great way for newbies to meet neighbors and get involved.
