First night in Nawlin was delicious. Had a 10 minute wait in the hot humid night that was immediately forgiven once the air conditioner greeted you. We were offered a seat up front vs the back. We chose the back and walked past the chef where he was grilling oyster. For a Tuesday night, this place was hopping. The waiter came immediately and took our order and before you know he was delivering our plates. Our fried fish was excellent. Put this spot on your must visit list.

I will start off by saying I did not order oysters (which is our specialty). I got a shrimp Poboy and a hurricane. The hurricane was too sweet and somehow tasted stale (I don't know if I've ever used that word to describe a drink before). It tasted like it was premade and sat around. The Poboy was OK, but the shrimp was not seasoned and it was pretty bland. The soup was not memorable. Service was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was definitely a not worth a 30 minute wait. Pretty disappointing.

The locals said to go here so we had to check it out. Yesterday the line was crazy long. Today we were first in line right at 11 am It's unassuming on the outside but the food was delicious. Their Char grilled oysters can be ordered with crab meat atop. The seasoning is chefs kiss. I didn't eat the Oyster just the seasoning and bread. I love the flavor profile. I got the Boudin Egg Rolls and a crab cake with 1/2 Shrimp poboy & corn and crab soup. The egg rolls have great flavor but doesn't compare to the Boudin Balls I've previously had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would say they're kid friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I liked the red beans and rice but everyone else didn't care for this batch. The shrimp were large and seasoned well as i didn't eat the bread. Someone else ordered the Philly poboy. She said the meat was seasoned exceptionally well. I loved the yummy bites. I can see why the lines were long. Deliciousness all around.

Acme Oyster House absolutely lived up to the hype! We stopped in while visiting New Orleans and had a good experience there. The fried oysters were incredible and easily the highlight of the meal! I can se why the wall of fame has people eating 15 dozens by themselves. Everything else we ordered was just as delicious. The service was friendly, attentive, even though the restaurant was busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is lively and has that classic New Orleans vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were pretty good too.

Tried charbroiled oysters & crab fingers, crab fingers were okay- not really something I'd write home about. Oysters w/ & wo crabmeat, they were really good, I don't agree with the rest of my party that they were the ultimate, best of the best char oysters in the entire world but they were delicious. Service was pretty good. Straight- to- the- point yet friendly staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Again not really anything to write home about. Nothing went above & beyond to really "wow" me personally to give all 5 stars but it was a clean little hole in the wall for some quick bites.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Acme Oyster House doesn't disappoint. Their raw oysters are so good and their Seafood Etoufee was the best I ever had. I still dream about my meal here. Definitely a must if you're in NOLA.

Very popular spot off Bourbon Street. Reservations are not taken. You just have to wait in line. With a party of six, we took first available, which was the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have seating as you enter in another section past the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did not get oysters, but several of my friends did and they loved them. I got the shrimp and fish po boy, and it was good. Our group shared the fried crawfish tails, and it was a hit! My stomach was a little queasy, so I didn't have any alcohol, but everyone else was pleased with their cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a come as you are type of place, very laid-back, with a friendly staff, and it's definitely a place I would try it again when I'm back in town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, I was so hungry, I forgot to take a picture of my food.

I try a new chargrilled oyster place every time I come to NOLA and surprisingly haven't been to ACME after several visits. We came for the oysters and also got a cup of gumbo and hush puppies. The hushpuppies were terrible and had a sweet after taste. The gumbo was not very good either. Now the oysters...amazing!!! We got the regular and the ones with crab on top. Both delicious. If you go, stick to the oysters and cocktails, the sides are nothing to write home about. Mike was our server and he was amazing, top notch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is cozy and has a bar with games on if you want to dine solo or catch up with a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A trip to New Orleans and a brand new relationship with oysters, this place delivered both. I'll be honest, I was nervous. The texture reviews had me second guessing myself at the door but I'd read enough to know Acme was the place to take the leap. Started with a half dozen charbroiled oysters -- strategic, just in case and immediately wanted to order another round. Showed restraint and explored the menu instead, landing on the catfish po'boy which was equally satisfying. No regrets but the oysters were absolutely the moment. The line outside makes complete sense. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food, the service, the ambiance it all feels authentically New Orleans even sitting in the middle of the tourist district, which is honestly harder to pull off than it sounds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This one has officially made the must return list for every future New Orleans trip. Already looking forward to it.

Acme is in New Orleans institution, and we have dinner here every time we are in town. If you like fresh oysters, this is the place for you. I do not, but I do enjoy their grilled chicken po-boy. Other fan favorites are the shrimp Poboy, the softshell crab Poboy and the gumbo. The red beans and rice are the some of the best in the city! They have a wide drink selection, including local beer. They do not take reservations and you line up outside to wait for a table. The staff outside keeps the line organized and moving and we never have to wait for very long. It is cozy inside with the tables close together so they can maximize the seating capacity, red and white tablecloths and just a really fun atmosphere.

Friendly service! We went on an early Saturday afternoon with no wait. The chargrilled oysters were an easy favorite. They came out hot with plenty of buttery garlic flavor and a generous layer of melted Parmesan. Don't skip the toasted bread because it was perfect for soaking up every last bit of the sauce. We also tried the grilled chicken po' boy, which was simple but really well done. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. The chicken and andouille sausage was another standout. The chicken was tender, the sausage added a smoky kick without being too spicy, and the flavors worked really well together. Definitely one of those dishes I'd order again.

First time waiting in line for oysters but it was worth the wait! The raw oysters were delicious. Very big pieces and fresh with no grittiness. We also had the fried alligator which was great. I've never had alligator before and it tasted like chicken. The chargrilled oysters were a little salty and not really worth it compared to the raw oysters. Our server was a lot of fun and it was a fun time eating here. I'd recommend Acme if you're looking for good raw oysters!

Great service, yummy food, dive-bar vibes! There was a short line outside but we only and to wait about 10 mins before being seated. Our server was super attentive, kept refilling our drinks, and made sure to clear our plates as we finished up. The red beans and rice were delicious and the craw puppies were surprisingly good! We had the chargrilled oysters, which were pretty good. Not overly cooked and still had good flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's def a casual spot so it's a bit loud but fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Worth the wait.

Ask the Community - Acme Oyster House

Does Acme have a happy hour which includes charbroil oysters?

I believe so. Happy hour starts at 430pm!

    Are the shrimp deveined?

I believe so. I tried the boom boom shrimp and it appeared to be.

    Can we order take out?

    Yes, you can take out

    Is there a children's menu?

    I didn't see a separate kids menu.

    Are children allowed inside?

Yes, there were multiple family's eating last time I was there. Kids are just most likely just not able to sit at the bar.

    Do they take reservations?

They don't take reservations at this location. But you can usually snag a bar seat and order from the full menu.

    Open on Thanksgiving Day?

    Probably not

    Do you have handicap access?

All of the streets are a bit rough, and this is right off Bourbon. However there are no steps, only a threshold to go over.

    Can I make reservations?

    No reservations

    Oyster Happy Hour? Live music?

I have not seen live music at Acme. Perhaps they may occasionally have someone play in the courtyard but if that ever happens it is not a regular thing.

    Is there a dress code?

    Nope. Not at all. Enjoy!

Does the entire party have to be there before you can be seated?

    Yes, you sure do.

    Do they take resrrvations?

No, they do not. Your best bet is to go early before the lines start to form! That get pretty long pretty fast BUT they do a great job of getting people in and out quickly

Do they have an oyster happy hour?

Does the restaurant allow dogs that are in a dog carrier?? The dog is coming on the trip, so if not allowed, we cannot go to the restaurant.

I did not see any dogs in carriers or otherwise but base on the seating I would have to say no.

Happy hour? What days? And times?

    No happy hour

    Do they have parking?

Not that I saw. Street parking

    Do they have frog legs?

Sorry, they don't have frog legs.

What time does their kitchen close?

I'm not sure I went at lunch time sorry...

Would anyone know what kind of fish they use for the fried fish and shrimp? I was guessing catfish but it didn't taste like catfish. I bought Louisiana fish fry and would like to make it as close as possible to theirs.

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.
