There are a lot of gyro places in Lincoln. A lot! There is one right next door! We chose this one, and it was fine. I love a good Greek salad with a lot of vinegar dressing and sometimes this is hard to find. This was not a lot of salad, it had sliced black olives; there was a lot of tomato that just didn't taste good. Dressing was not right. I did love that it was served with some good potatoes which I felt like kind of a cross between Greek potatoes and steak fries. I also like that there was a lot of tzatziki sauce. The meat was nice, not dry. It was just the "salad" part that I didn't love. Maybe next time I would just have a gyro instead. Service was fast, prices were appropriate. We sat outside. I'm super bummed. I just had the worst tandoori chicken kebab I've ever had here. In more than 28 years of me coming here, this has never happened. The kebab was way smaller, overcooked (dry, whereas they used to be big and so juicy) and under flavored. The yogurt sauce was flavorless and is now served in solo cups (more plastic waste), the salad just tastes like plain overwhelming vinegar. No lemon. No tomato. The potatoes were ok but also no lemon flavor and the rice was super plain, I don't even think there was salt on it. My husband's z plate also was lacking the usual flavors we have come to love. The meat was bland. We are utterly disappointed. The prices have gone up which is understandable if the portions and flavor stay the same. I had the chicken gyro with the steak fries and my husband had the regular gyros. Every component of the sandwiches and the potatoes were wonderful!! Perfect seasoning and texture for everything. The only reason it's not a 5 star for me is because of the ridiculous styrofoam plates and the shitty plastic utensils. Those things made it difficult to eat in an enjoyable manner and though the tzatziki is the best I have ever had I ran out when I had quite a bit of sandwich left. read more

We ordered Gyro Skinny Fries, Gryo Rice Bowl, and a baklava on Grubhub. The meat was super dry, not seasoned as advertised, and underwhelming. The rice was super dry. Perhaps it was just because it was a delivery order but it will not be our go to gyro place in Lincoln. read more

Called in an order for a spicy chicken kabob with French fries instead of potato wedges. Instead of replacing the potato wedges with French fries, he charged me for an entire separate order of French fries, that were cold, barely cooked, and he didn't even season them. I was the only customer in there, and he could have taken the time to at least cook the fries he overcharged me for. When I called to complain, he pretended he didn't know what I was saying. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Lincoln. The food is delicious and the staff is so nice. The family also just opened another spot in town called Pita and Naan. I always get the Z plate or Z sandwich. The only different between the two is that you get steak fries with the Z plate. This restaurant is located in downtown Denver near the Haymarket area. Parking may be a bit difficult to find along the street, so consider parking in a garage or walking. There is seating available inside and outside. read more

This was my go to for gyros for a long time but recently the quality has just gone down. The last two times I've ordered were terrible experiences which I would have never expected from Ali Babas.., Burnt pita bread, WAY OVER SALTED steak fries, and what has officially pushed me away was the EXPIRED SOUR HUMMUS. First of all, I asked for taziki sauce on the side and instead got a 4oz container of old hummus.. it was so sour like it should have been thrown out after a couple of days after being prepped but they held on to it and served it to customers. Came to Lincoln for kiddos soccer game and by the time it got over we were famished!! This restaurant happened to be a 10 min drive from the venue and with good reviews. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the guy was just so friendly . That just always bring a smile to your face now about the food.... We ordered two hot n spicy chicken gyro and 1 hot n spicy Lamb gyro ( one with steak potatoes and one with French fries) the quantity of the food is just perfect and the gyros were just soooo delicious!!!!! Cute little late-night gyro shop in Lincoln Nebraska and when you need late night food around here there are not very many options and they're not very, and by NY or CHI standards this would probably be average or a little below but by Nighttime Nebraska standards it's actually pretty good and you can hang out here for a while and the owner is nice and they have a bathroom although it's tiny and not great but it's a bathroom and I hope you enjoyed my ridiculous run on sentence. We absolutely LOVE Ali Babas. It used to be our favorite "after bar food" and it's actually just turned into our favorite gyro place in all of Lincoln and Omaha. Like to eat your gyro with a fork because there's so much meat inside? This place is for you. Love hand cut steak fries that are so big one fry is half a potato? This place is also for you. So so good. The meat is so flavorful and the tatziki sauce is creamy and delicious with also great flavor. My favorite thing actually might be the fries. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I wasn't really in the mood for gyros, but they talked this place up so much that I felt I needed to go. Best. Decision. Ever. I ordered the gyro plate which consisted of pita bread and a large portion of meat topped with sauce, onions, tomatoes, a spoonful of feta and steak fries on the side. It was love at first bite. They gyro meat was so flavorful and steak fries were seasoned perfect for my taste. I was told this restaurant stays open to 3am and I'm sure it gets a lot of business from the college kids that frequent the O street bars. I would say the meal was Goldilocks. It was perfect size to meet my appetite needs. The meat was good. Toppings were good. Crinkle fries fries were good. They did not have cheese sauce for the fries, but I will not hold that against them. I failed to notice they had breaded cauliflower, which, had I paid attention, I would have been all over that with ranch sauce! While I was scarfing down my food, the NASA probe landed on Mars. This place will always be memorable as the place I was eating an awesome gyro while watching the historic event! Only ONE minor comment/recommendation... maybe I am being gluttonous, but I love a gyro when the meat overfills the pita and you have extra meat to pick at with your fingers. So much of this town is parking garages and new development, it's nice to find a hole in the wall place. I was confused by the menu so just went with the daily special, a chicken shawarma. Great food, but good luck getting order right. Consistently get orders wrong (e.g. no onion), somewhere around 50% rate of correct modification with NO ONION.
