They provide service with a smile. Fast, friendly and strong. My long island ice tea was on point. Yummy to the max! The facility is clean, and large so it's good for groups. Everyone, My own imposed rules for any review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. Must order something unique each visit. 3. If they have any "signature" items on the menu, you must order a "signature" item at least once. 4. Ratings are based on a 10 point scale with 5 being average, which does not mean bad. What a score of 5 means is that the category meets expectations for that establishments format. Thanks. Alibi Bar and Grill - St. Charles Location/Layout - 6.5/10: Located just west of Route 31 on route 64 in St. Charles. The location is fairly large and conveniently located in the downtown St. Charles pub crawl area. The building itself has a modern industrial feel, especially with the exposed roof rafters on the interior. The dining area is an open room with tables set around the outside of the large centralized bar. There is a small stage for house bands in the corner near the entrance and floor space in front for those that are inspired to move to the music. Menu - 5/10: The menu is fairly robust but they seem to try too hard to be high end fair. The issue is that the menu does not fit the rest of the ambience of the establishment nor the patrons that comes in for the live music, dancing, and drinks. Service - 6.5/10: Our service has always been good and very knowledgeable. We have visited during the week when they have been grossly understaffed and the server was also the bartender which created delays in service but that was unavoidable for the servers' part. Food - 4/10: The food is average and fairly consistent. Unfortunately, we have not found a stand out on the menu and again I believe this is an issue of trying to be something they are not, with the overly ambitious entrée options and sandwich combinations. The sandwiches are not as flavor or put together as well you would assume based on pricing and description. Pricing is above average or slightly high for the area but you are being offered items that are described as "higher end" fair. Drinks - 6/10: Alibi offers a lot of draft beers, along with several others in bottle. Additionally, they have a pretty expansive and nicely showcased liquor selection. They offer very competitive drink specials which change frequently, so there is sure to be a night that fits your tastes. Overall Experience - 5/10: Alibi offers a slightly more upscale pub venue in the myriad of options found in downtown St. Charles. Unfortunately, they try being something they are not as an establishment and fail to fully deliver. Bouncer cracked my ID in half because he didn't think it was real. I have a Florida ID and was visiting family, instead of properly training their bouncers they let juice heads secure that place who don't have a clue what they are doing. If this was an establishment that had good security they would be trained to see what ID's are fake and real. Mind you, it was a vertical ID... who gets a fake vertical I am not sure, but the previous bars I had gone to in the area just asked for a second form or better yet scanned the ID like a proper bouncer. Ridiculous that they thought that was the proper way to handle the situation & after I yelled at the bouncer all they had to say was "you can accept my apology or you can get out." Get your staff or outsourced security re-upped on their training before you do this to someone else. read more

Hmm, what to say about this place? I had read the mixed reviews and was a bit apprehensive about coming here. However, my favorite local band was playing and I didn't want to miss them. The first bartender that served me, Tory, was amazing! She was really great. Stacy the other bartender was good too. I ordered the pulled pork sliders. After about 10 minutes I was told they were out of pulled pork. Tory suggested the filet mignon sliders. I have to admit, they were very good! After I ate, I took a spin on the video slots and had a little fun. Tory even brought me a beer at the machine. So why not a 5-star review, you are wondering? Well, after my small run of good luck at the slots I went back to the bar. A new woman was behind the bar with the other two girls. I don't know if she was a manager or what, but she should go back to "customer service school." I told her I wanted a Bud Light. She didn't even bother to ask, bottle or draft. I was drinking draft all night, but she brought me a bottle. Ok, I can live with that without giving a bad review. What makes them lose stars is the fact that she took my money and kept the change! I didn't say "Keep the change!" I was waiting for my change then I was going to tip her, but I guess she just assumed that was going to be her tip. Whatever! I tip well and would have certainly tipped her more! Overall, this is a place I would have never come if my favorite local band wasn't playing. I had dinner elsewhere on a Saturday night and hit up this area with a friend for a few drinks after. After Alley 64 we decided to stop in here ... based on the name alone. No joke. A band was playing last Saturday night, but no cover which was cool... the crowd here was mixed, it wasn't very crowded so definitely my style! According to the poster in the bathroom, you can request drinks in FISHBOWLS!!!! How neat!!! We just stopped in for a beer, so I can't speak for the food or much else but I did appreciate the vibe in here... not bad. I mean really...unless you feel the desire to pay top dollar for poorly made drinks and be treated like garbage by the low lifes that work at this establishment, there's no reason to go. What an identity crisis. This place is not sure if it wants to be a restaurant, a sports bar, or a nightclub. My experience was that it failed miserably in all 3 categories. Arrived just in time to have the kitchen close and not be able to eat. Drink specials were watered down, mostly ice and served in small plastic cups. The music was terrible - the DJ was about as inexperienced as they come and the mashups he did were horrible. Painful to the ears sort of horrible. I will never understand the concept of either trying to dance to an Ozzy Osbourne song or having a lot of big TV's in my face showing nothing but commercials at 1 o'clock in the morning. Never. I came here with the modest ambition of having a little bit to eat, having a little bit to drink, and having a little bit of booty-shaking. HUGE place that is pretty much always empty no matter what day of the week it is. Haven't had any of their food so I can't speak to that. The reason I gave it so few stars is the price of their drinks is ridiculous for the location of the bar. We're in STC, not downtown Chicago. They charged me $14 for a goldschlager shot! The hell!?? Overall it SEEMS like it has the potential to be a nice place, very "new" feeling. Nice tvs, big area that could be used for a dance floor.... but this place definitely has an identity crisis going on (If you look up Alibi in Saint Charles, IL on Yelp you will see there are two different listings and the OTHER one there are comments all up and down the page that say the same thing.... clearly this one here was mocked up by an employee... not cool.) Love the vibe! I went out with a girlfriend for drinks and dancing and that's exactly what we got and more. There was a live band (who was actually pretty good) that played a lot of popular songs. We stood at the bar and the waitress would check in on us and talk with us about the area, being as I'm new to town! Only thing I'd have to complain about was someone spilled my drink and I had to ask three different employees if the could clean it up until someone actually did it. Worst.Restaurant.Exprience.Ever. Honestly, what is this place? If you want to be a club - then be a club. If you want to be a restaurant, then be a restaurant. From the get go this place gave me the willies - it screamed dirty cougars in the general atmosphere. Weird decor, very strange seating, no hostess, bad service, terrible bartender. I can't comment on the food since I was never given the opportunity to order or taste any of it...or drink anything... Moral of the story, I went here for my birthday and left starving and annoyed. We sat for 40 minutes WAITING for drinks that never came and waiting for a waitress that never bothered. Since there were all of 2 other tables there I can't imagine they could use "busy" as an excuse. Finally I tried to get a waitress to pay attention (after my husband had already spoken to the bartender twice about our lack of service and lack of drinks) and she purposely made it a point to ignore me. If you're busy or overwhelmed as a server, just say so. I can be very understanding of new restaurants/bars needing some time to figure things out, but these people were just rude. Awful, just awful. I've been here twice. 1- Took my girlfriend here for dinner. Not only were we THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE PLACE, but the food was sub-par. After asking the waitress what was going on, her response was "we are more of a dance bar than a restaurant"....nice. 2- Went out with some friends for a night our. So, a couple weeks ago, my fiance and I were going to meet up with friends at the Filling Station. But as we walked to the back door, he called an audible! Most times we don't really pay attention across the street, but this time his eyes were drawn to Alibi. Maybe it was the 25 cent wing sign and specials that were on the window but whatever the case was, he went in quickly and decided he wanted to try it out! Overall, not a bad choice! This classy looking place was large and smelled new, as if they had just painted and applied varnish. While we visited, it only had 2 other couples which made question, is this place new and no one knows about it? Well, I soon answered my question when I found a promo flier for their "grand opening weekend." So yeah, safe to say, yes! I got the wing special, which they have Monday, Thursday, and Sundays and a couple drinks. My hungry dude got a sandwich, a side of crab mac n' cheese that I eventually commandeered, and a couple drinks as well. My food was nothing extraordinary but matched up with the value, so I consider that a win! And in case you are wondering, the wings are breaded, can come in three flavors in groups of six, and sized like Hooters' wings. In regards to our service, I thought it great! Our server/bartender was really down to earth, personable, and attentive! Despite a questionable aged wine flub, she quickly remedied the situation and opened a new bottle for my friend. This was probably the worst food I have ever had. My wife and I bought a deal on Living Social for this restaurant for $25. The deal included a flat bread, two glasses of house wine and two entrees. Had we not bought the deal, we would have spent easily over $60, way overpriced for what we got. The flat bread was decent. The crust was pretty flavorless but the tomatoes, cheese and basil seemed fresh - nothing we couldn't have made at home quite easily. My wife ordered the pasta trio. She liked the shrimp and pesto pastas, but the marinara pasta tasted like Ragu. It was awful. I ordered the chicken piccata. The chicken was cooked well and that is about the only good thing about this dish. The sauce was bitter and acidic. It seemed like they had just dumped a bunch of olive oil on the plate too. These owners and managers need to learn something and I mean anything about service! I will NEVER go there again and incourage you not to as well! So my husband bought not just one but two groupons for this place. Sounded nice, menu looked excellant. We live in Naperville, always looking for new fun deals. Stay away, stay far far away! First off, we decided to go there on a Sunday night. Open? No, Sign on the door said they we're closed that night for some unknown reason. The next time, we looked up their hours and headed there for dinner. Open? Nope! Are you kidding me. So, as our 2 groupons needed to be used, I called first, they were open, Yay! When we got there on a weekday night, there was one other couple there. hmmm scary. So how fresh will this food be? I asked the waiter about the hours and he stated that " If we're not busy, we close early, we never really know when." After you sell groupons and have website with stated hours? Yes. Ok. "How are the chicken wings?" we asked the waiter. His response was that they were really good. My husband asked if the waiter had tried them. Well no, he replied. hmmm Ok the wings were good. As soon as we started eating them he told us our food was about ready. It came way to early and was cold! Enough, I'm done with this place. So I felt we neeeded to share our thoughts with a manager. (this is a NEW business, I grew up in St. Charles, I thought they would appreciate it) actually he claimed he was an owner. He was defensive, rude and obnoxious. Alibi is definitely not sure of what it wants to be. The space itself is large and very open. When we stopped in one afternoon, there was a couple entering with us who asked if they were open. It was entirely empty, so, yes, it was a fair question. But apparently they were open, despite 1/3 of the tables on the far side of the room had chairs upside down on them as someone was mopping the floor (don't you do this before or after business hours?) There was a lot of awkward open space right around the entry, so we decided to sit at the bar. The bar is sizable and u-shaped and there are TVs around. I opted for a strawberry salad, which was okay. Nothing to make it stand out, but nothing remarkable, either. Which, is pretty much what you could say for my husband's burger. He's fairly easy to please, but alibi doesn't really give you any reason to come back. Plus, while I can appreciate a casual atmosphere, our bartender looked haggard. Jeans are find behind the bar, but man, she had on a sloppy layered top, messy hair, and kept checking her iPhone, which was plugged in nearby. Obviously, work wasn't her main concern than day. If Alibi doesn't hone in on what they want to do, who they want to be, I think they risk going under, especially with so many other dining choices in the area. read more

Their DJ knows what hes doing, the place gets very crowded but also very fun with folks dancing all night. The drinks specials were very welcome, and they were strong. I'm from out of state and the bouncer told me my ID was fake because apparently it was missing a "m" and he knew what real Missouri ID's look like and mine was for sure a "fake." I had a picture of my passport and other forms of identity with me and wasn't budging on letting me in. Instead, snapped my ID in half and said real ID's don't break. I go to The Alibi about once a month on a weekend night to dance with my friends and drink. Whenever someone suggests going to The Alibi, at least one person lets out a groan because everyone knows it is the trashiest place in St. Charles. We end up going, however, because it's the only place in the area that has a dance floor! That being said, I did not have high expectations of The Alibi's staff or service when I went there last night, but St. Charles' finest really outdid themselves. My friends and I arrived at about midnight, and I went to the bar after a few minutes of dancing and ordered a cocktail and a water. The female "bartender" with the bob haircut told me that a bottle of water was $2, and it was, "policy" that they don't serve tap water. I asked I speak to a manager, because I am aware of the law requiring all establishments to have free tap water available wherever alcohol is served, and she ignored me and walked away. I was dehydrated from dancing and did not want to over serve myself (obviously the "bartender" wasn't concerned about over serving me), so I asked for a bottle of water and paid the $2. The "bartender" then slammed the water bottle in front of my so hard that the bottle slid onto the floor. Great customer service! After about an hour, I decided to call it quits and walked out of the bar. The bouncer said I had to throw out my water bottle. I told him no, that I was dehydrated and just paid for it. The bouncer then ripped the bottle out of my hand, and shoved me (by pushing his hand against my breast) hard against the wall so hard that strangers rushed up to ask if I was alright. I am a 5'6" 130 lb female. I read a previous review of The Alibi in which the reviewer had also been assaulted by the bouncer. Management obviously has not taken note, or does not care, since he is still employed. Clearly this bar is much more interested in making money than the safety of its patrons. This place is a fun mixed crowd. I haven't ate here, but it's a good place to go if you want to have a couple drinks and listen to live music. My dad's friend played in a band here and it's a fun bar. Can be a place to go for dancing. At night it's like a restaurant with a band, but late at night it's more of a night club. read more

Good food and a good lineup of entertainment. Only open on Fridays and Saturdays, I think, but they have a live band from 8 to 11 (really good classic rock the nights I've been there but I've heard they have country bands, too) and then from 11 to 2 they bring in a DJ for music for the younger crowd. What makes this place really special for me is the history. In the 60's and 70's it was the Jaguar, and they had some of the biggest names in rock performing there: The Who, the Yardbirds, Cream, Journey and lots, lots more. Been here a few times and all I can say is the staff is friendly and seems like a great place to hang with friends especially during the live bands that play every weekend. The food is amazing!! The Cajun chicken Alfredo is by far the best pasta I've had at a decent price. The bartenders are awesome and make you feel comfortable right away!! I checked the ratings AFTER I was already in. This place didn't knock me off my socks. I would like to give them like a 3.5 stars, but not an option. So we arrived at roughly 9ish.. (I know I know it was early for bar hopping) It was DEAD. I asked the bouncer where everyone was, and he told me that in about an hour it would be full...OK.. So we ordered drinks from the side bar, bartender was really kind, made really good drinks. We kept him decently busy with orders. About an hour after being there there were more people but the bartender was like there will be 400 people here. When he said that I thought to myself 'I can't even imagine 400 people fitting in this place'. There were probably under 100 after an hour later. By the time we left it wasn't packed, but the place seemed more comfortably filled up. We also ordered food. On the list: Cheddar Barbeque Burger, Chicken Tenders, and just an order of fries. Boyfriend said the burger was really good (he ate all of it). It looked really tasty and came with a side, which seemed pretty worth the $10 price. Still alittle high for my taste though. OH . And did I mention the order of chicken fingers was $5.99 for 3 tenders?! What kind of ridiculous over priced shit is that?! To add cheese on the burger was also over $1. The drinks were little over priced (but remember they DID taste good) as well. It just was a little high priced for the worth. Also it was "club night", so they had a DJ instead of the regular band. The DJ played newer music, BUT changed the song every 30 seconds... Not too enjoyable.. I will be back though, maybe for a band performance. I want to see this place in its other elements.
