Came here on a Friday night. It's a pretty chill, casual spot with couches to sit and kind of has a late 2000s vibe. The bartender and server who greeted us was really friendly and let us sit in the "VIP" section, which is a raised area near the back with more sofas. The couches in the general area were all filled. There's a bar and a few high tops by the bar as well. They have a huge selection of martinis with decent prices. I'd love to come back to try more, especially the dessert ones. Came here with some friends after eating at El Patio down the street, great Mexican food there by the way. After we ate, we decided to try the Martini room.it definitely has a cool bar and vibe. Tons of places to sit and sip. Our waiter was very attentive and came around just in time as I was finishing my drink each time, I tried about 4 Martinis which I know is a lot. I heard they have a special during the week too so definitely check them out. I tried a the strawberry shortcake/cheesecake which I did enjoy. I don't know what I was expecting from a little martini bar in downtown Elgin, but I can tell you what I wasn't expecting, and that was a NYC-vibe. I was over-the-moon to discover this place after picking up hubby from the train station around the corner. We were greeted by some of the friendliest bartenders that made some fantastic martinis. I was thrilled to have a conversation with them before the evening rush came in, and I can't wait to visit them again next time we are in town. I am pretty sure the owner was sitting in the corner at the bar, but I didn't verify that, so I can't say for sure, but either way we met three super cool people. Warm beer, horrible, horrible service, over 15 minutes to get a drink and nothing fancy, just a bottle of beer. Two people ordering Coors and Modelo, tab was $54 for 8 beers and then we got charged with an automatic 25% Gratuity of $13.50. States right at the bottom of the receipt that "20% Gratuity will be added to tabs over $200. Groups with 5 tabs or more will be added 20% gratuity each." Didn't fall into either of those categories and got charged 25% gratuity, what a joke. If we go back we will go for the music, won't be ordering drinks that's for sure. read more

Went on a weekend to watch a Halloween themed Drag Queen Show. I think it was $25 at the door & $20 online. They announced there's a performance once a month. There's no food menu & a very comprehensive Martini menu. It's surrounded by restaurants along this street so I'm sure you can bring your own in but call to make sure. The drag queens were very flexible, very nice & spent a lot of time on their make up & attire so make sure you have those dollar bills ready to hand it to them via hand. Not a risqué type event. I was not 100% prepared but luckily had sort of enough dollar bills/cash. It's good to do something different & not have to deal with driving to Chicago but still a long drive. My first impression is that the Martini Room focuses on too many things (eclectic presentation, homey seating, entertainment) and not enough on quality, classic bartending. This bar quickly filled up on a Wednesday night (we were early, but a show was in the making after dinner) and appeared popular for groups of female friends gathering for drinks and carry-in food (allowed) around the dinner hour. The establishment hosts numerous varietal shows (drag, music, etc), and there are lots of seasonal, and colorfully sugar-enhanced concoctions of martini flights. Bar seating upon entry, with some high boys flanking the opposite wall. All of this flows into tracts of sectional, low profile seating with coffee table style serving on two levels. All the comfy couture aside, my gin martini arrived first, a weirdly solitary delivery, and was adulterated by too much vermouth or warm olive juice; whatever the reason (hot stemware?) the drink was tepid. The flights would all follow minutes later. I just drank up anyway because I needed to dart out. The carry-in food was ready down the street. I'm not a fan of sugary drinks anyway, so skipping the signature martini flights, I had hoped that a standard gin martini could be well prepared at a namesake bar. Additionally, my martini was served in a glass with an unusual, counter-balanced stem that curves to one side, which made the drink unwieldy and more challenging to hold than the ordinary funnel-cone on a stick. Even my waiter had problems transferring it to the table. Ian Fleming's James Bond certainly would add this prohibition to his maxim: "shaken, not stirred, and not poured into curvy or zig-zaggy stemware." Toward the end of our drinks and carry-in food bazaar (everyone seems to love this "bring your own food" feature), our party of four was interrupted by a stream of showmen with suitcases, theatrical lighting sets and flying extension cords--literally over our heads-- a troupe setting up for a show that evening. I had just flown in from Philly to meet family and friends, so this was my first visit to a bar in Elgin, but I'm sure there must be a better place to relax and enjoy a well crafted, classic martini. read more

Came here for the first time last night for the drag show event. Tickets were priced reasonably ...$21 plus tax! The martini menu is extensive! So many to pick from. I think we each got a different one. Staff was great and very friendly! The place was clean and vibrant. Lots of colors and cool decor. They have an open bar here so no need to worry if tinis aren't your thing ;) the restrooms were cleaned and stocked! No mask was required and did not have to show vaccine card. This was a safe space as well, open for all! I will be back again! If you see they are doing the drag show event, you should definitely check it out! We had a blast. Only downfall, no food at this joint however, you can BYOF! Next time I will do that! They even have a list of local spots who deliver there. read more

Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. The DJ seemed inexperienced and played the same tracks repeatedly throughout the night, which greatly affected our enjoyment of the event. We were hoping for a more diverse and engaging set, but instead, we were left feeling frustrated and confused by the lack of variety in the music. This is a great local spot in Elgin. The bartenders are great, the drinks are delicious and there are lots of martini choices. It's set up like a Parisian bar. Exposed brick walls, dark, with candle lighting, comfortable couches and great music. Management is super aware of what's going on and helpful. Love the Martini Room! I've been regularly going there for their flights on Wednesdays for about a year. I decided to have my 22nd birthday here and easily planned with Gery, he and the bartenders are Super friendly. Had about 20 people in our section that Angel made sure were taken care of. I love that we can bring our own food and they let you order to there as well. I mostly only go during the week because I'm not into drag shows or burlesque- everyone has their own opinion- if you're also not into that be forewarned they do those often on weekends. But they also have live music on some weekends, definitely check their website first if that's a concern. Parking can be tricky especially when it's cold because it's street parking on the bank next door but in the summer time it's not a far walk from the train station on national. I have been coming here for a while as my boyfriend lives in Elgin. We got to this place at 4:30 and no one was here. We learned there was a drag show so we stuck around until 8. Last night my companion and I visited for the first time. The atmosphere and music created a very nice ambiance that would be great for girls night gatherings or for an intimate chat. The martinis were lovely (I got their Wednesday $15 flight. They have this graham cracker crust sweet martini that is so smooth! They even toast the marshmallow they add to it for you lol). I tend not to write reviews, but what made this experience special to me was the person who waited on us. I wish I could remember his name. He was so personable and friendly. We came last night here after a show at the art showcase a few blocks away. For a Friday night, it wasn't too crowded, which was great since we were able to grab a couch. I had never been here so I wasn't sure what to expect. It definitely has a bit of an early 2000s vibe, or what I think the early 2000s bar/club scene was like based on TV depictions (I was 13 so my in-person experience is limited). But, it was fun. The wall art of boobs was an interesting choice, though. The drink list is impressive, and drinks range from $8-$15, depending on what you get. I had a martini mule ($9). It was good, but not very strong. The servers were attentive and accommodating, and I like that the drink prices are inclusive of tax. So make sure you go with the right person at the right time. ;) The other day I went with one of my friends and tons of people were there. It was a lot more fun when the place is busy! The service was great both times I went! One of my favorite martini's is the cotton candy martini, it's very unique and you can't get it at most bars. Most martini's range from $9-$13.
