We are frequent flyers here. Dom is always our server/bartender and we always look for her when we walk in. She has been taking care of us since our first date night there. So friendly, and top notch service every time! The ambiance is awesome. There is a really nice outdoors area to sit and the bar is nice. There is no greater feeling than walking in to a restaurant that you haven't been to in months, and seeing that the personnel has not changed (employee retention is a bonus for me!) and your favorite bartender is eager to great you and has missed your presence, and even recently thought about you - maybe thats what summoned us to go out to eat last night LOL. Dom is such a bright cheery presence and its authentic; as well as the other bar staff that brings chips, salsa & waters!! Even the hostess (no matter which of the two we've seen) is genuine about their greetings. It's a comfortable atmosphere! They decorated for Christmas - another huge bonus for me Last night, we got a marg (obviously!) and a Shrimp Botana Mix but since we have different preferences on the fried vs bacon-wrapped shrimp, yes I'm the weirdo that doesn't care for bacon, Dom suggested 2 of each to make us both happy. Went for dinner, greeted as we walked in, you know I luv the acknowledgement. We were able to get seated quickly. The server came and greeted us and took our drink order and appetizer order. We were off to a good start. I am not sure how the sections were laid out but the restaurant wasn't packed. Our drinks were delivered and then there was a longer than expected wait to place our entrees order. The server finally came back answering our questions and took our entrees order. When the guacamole was delivered to our table, we had to asked for small plates. And then we had to ask for small plates... we finally got small plates. I am guessing the manager was visiting tables and brought us a couple of hot tortillas... I thought he was going to make small talk with us but he didn't. Our entrees were delivered to the table, one order was missing ranchero beans, so we asked for ranchero beans and the server asked if it was ok to bring out another set of rice and beans. To which was replied, yes. Another dinning companion asked for another fork because the fork was dirty. The server said ok. Then we asked for the beans and the fork. Then we asked for the beans and the fork. The server replied the forks are up front and she went up front and brought back the wrapped flatware set. Then we waited.. the server came by and asked if we need refills then brought the refills and we asked about the beans. The server walked away. And then came back with the beans. 2 observations, 1. why did the server always reach across the table to serve people plates instead of walking to the other side of the table? 2. Why did the server never apologize for forgetting things we asked for? The service just went downhill, I don't expect perfection but I do hope for courtesy service. Maybe it is time for more training. The food... The guacamole was very good. The chips were crispy, nice crunch and held up to the guacamole. The chicken enchiladas with mole sauce was meh. We order Frida flower alcohol beverage it was surprisingly delicious tequila hibiscus with a brown sugar/caramel rim. My husband had a shrimp cocktail I had the vuelve a la Vida cocktail seafood was fresh had a good flavor with the exception of the overpowering of ketchup in each cocktail. Lastly we shared the molcajete amazing presentation it came with cheese cactus beef fajita chicken fajita chorizo and pork links they also threw in butterfly shrimp charbroiled with a delicious sauce in banana leaf at the bottom to keep all the flavor in. Atmosphere was welcoming music on not too loud not too low which is perfect you don't have to shout to have conversations, it's kid friendly with ampule outside seating games for the kiddos . Introduced to this place by mutual friends, and decided to give it a try. It was a Friday night and not too crowded, but a private party in the small event room, and several large parties on the main floor. We were seated quickly and served drinks promptly. Being our first time we had to study the menu for a while. Chips served were a bit stale, but ok. Red sauce was excellent. After placing our orders, seemed like an inordinate wait for entrees to be served. Ran out of chips and no one came by to refresh them. I had to flag someone down. When food was served, one order was incorrect, we couldn't find the waiter to tell him, so just ate it anyway. When he finally came by, we told him and he apologized and offered to serve a free dessert. We agreed that the food was excellent, but server could have earned a bigger tip if he had been more available. We will be back again. read more

We went to Doneraki last night and everything was much improved. Drinks 5/5, food 5/5, service 5/5. We start off with queso and chips. There is nothing finer than a margarita with some chips & queso! Especially the queso here. It's decadent and savory. Beef fajitas for two, highly recommended. They are well seasoned and cooked perfectly. One of my favorite margarita is the Machorita! Literally a whole party in a mug if you know what I what I mean. I prefer the frozen version. The best adult slushy you'll find. Beer margarita is damn fine too. I'm a fan of flan and ended my meal with one. The service this time was awesome. Our server, Dominique, was friendly and on point with everything. We never had a moment to request anything because she would check in on us to make sure everything was good. She was attentive with us and we noticed, all of her other tables too. It was a busy night and we were impressed how she kept up. This honestly, was the best service we have experienced here. All the employees we came across were amazing. I'm no stranger to Doneraki, but it was my first time to this location. I stopped by with a group of friends to grab drinks and dinner. Parking 10/10 plenty of space Atmosphere 9/10 Service 7/10 they told us the table was ready, but then we had to wait an additional 10 minutes at the hostess stand to be sat. we sat in a large booth that couldn't fit our entire party, so we asked to move to a table. Which they did, thankfully. Drinks Mexican flag margarita 9/10 Watermelon margarita 7/10 Cherry margarita (byo) 8/10 Build your own 10/10 I made a peach henny & grand marnier margarita. We decided to try this for lunch yesterday and I'm so glad we did. The staff is super nice and attentive. The inside of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Best chips ever! Thin and crunchy: We decided to try the combo fajitas and they were amazing. It came with shrimp, beef, chicken and a chicken quesadilla. Rice and beans also came with it. The tortillas were so good and fresh. The rice was amazing. Tasted very close to Cuban yellow rice. Superb! Everything was fresh and tasty. Not super spicy but steaming hot and wonderful. Definitely one of my favorites. This place is going to give other Mexican restaurants in Katy, a run for their money. Highly impressed by the food and ambiance. Amazing Mexican food Discovery! Ist time visiting here, although out of our normal food travel area! We were there for a graduation celebration event at Doneraki's party room. The room must have accommodated family friends 30-45 persons or more?! An adjoining room can host another 20 persons. Food: We did not order La Carte , but the food served was simple, tasteful & flavorful. Ranchero beans / soup, tacos with choice of trompo bbq, tortillas & chicken fillings. There were serious sauces, guacamole, green & red sauces to customize the fajita tacos we tried. Before the food, Restaurant severed appetizers. We also had a margarita at the bar. My wife ordered mocktail margarita & I ordered margarita with Tajín. It was stronger than other places I have ordered, almost like made at home! We had a family birthday lunch (party of 10) on Sunday and were very pleased. We were seated promptly and the service was spectacular. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The ambiance is nice but the food is a hit or miss or is too spicy. The salsa is way too spicy (both of them), the menudo is way too spicy and can't really eat it. I had mole enchiladas with cheese / queso fesco (veggie option). The first time I ordered that a few weeks ago it was great. Today, it was NOT good. ALMOST PERFECT, EVERYONE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. Upon entry into the establishment, it was welcoming and breathtaking. The two host greeted me with a smile and immediately escorted me to the table. I walked to the restroom and return to my table gone. I was livid. The mere fact that there were menus and water already on the table why would someone remove the menus as if no one was sitting there. I walked to the hostess stand and notified them of the uncourteous encounter and they were extremely apologetic and proceeded to provide more menus for my table. I waited patiently as I watched several tables get service, while I was waiting. About 10 minutes later after everyone was walking all over me and not one person stopped to greet or ask if service was needed or was I being accommodated. Once again, I had to visit the hostess stand to report no one has arrived at my table to take an order of any sort. At this point, now there was two hostess, and several servers all apologizing. They offered FREE QUESO and explained this is not the normal standard of the restaurant. Then we were introduced to IVAN a new employee as our server. He was very apologetic, explained the menu and offered to inquire about information he was unsure of when taking our orders. The food was amazing but the the two initial incidents is what curved my review. On the pricier side tbh. The food came out quick. The food was above average. The star of the show is definitely the green salsa! Overall the food is good and atmosphere is cool. When we arrived, the parking lot was full which was the first sign that we were stepping into a great culinary experience. Doneraki was full of families with smiling faces and the ambiance was amazing. We have not had an experience like we had dining at Doneraki at any other Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing. Meat was flavorful and not overly salted. The portions were just right and what I'm assuming is an avocado jalapeño sauce is the perfect complement to any dish - we kept asking for more. The service from the wait staff could have been better but I give them a pass since they were pretty busy on a Friday night. However, as busy as they were, we received a friendly greeting and were sat immediately upon walking in. Doneraki is a must try if you haven't been and aren't familiar with their other locations. We walked in and there is only one other table that has 3 people sitting and they are about finished with their food, our food comes and late and wrong plates and we are four people and the waiter only brings out 3 plates and when we ask where is the other plate he says oh I didn't know everyone was eating, I said you took an order of four plates. It was a chargrilled cauliflower head topped with Tajin and a chipotle aioli, good choice for a vegetarian if you like cauliflower. For our entree we got a parillada for 4 with beef and sausage. The parillada was okay, nothing to really rave about. The short ribs on it were really tough and the seasonings they used were someone sweet? Maybe they were using seasonings left by the bbq restaurant that use to own the place. The charro beans that came with the fajita however were really good, I'll give them a 10/10 for the charro beans but that's it. The overall taste of everything didn't give Mexican or Tex mex, this place is pretty expensive for the quality. I would not recommend coming here unless they work on their cooking and seasonings. Nojthing about this place besides the charro beans sticks out. Also I found it comical how tiny the birthday flan is, it's about 4 spoons worth! The flan was not good, it was pretty think gelatin, not jiggly or creamy. If you want to try this place go ahead but be prepared for mediocre food at a high price. At a week open from the time I visited i was very impressed. The service was on point, from the time we arrived and were seated we had a group of 8 and they took care of us fairly fast. Our waiter Giovanni was awesome very attentive always checking in on us. Our order was big and he got everything right no issues. It is noisy after all your typical noose level for any Mexican or tex-mex eatery, it's not so bad. The food was amazing very impressive everything we ordered was cooked and prepared perfect! Highly recommend. I just hope that as time passes they don't lose that drive, that quality because it seems to always happen at other places that with time goes on they cut corners and quality starts to go down. Hopefully this place stays how it is now or keeps improving. One more thing to note is, it is on the pricey side but it was worth it to me on my visit. Just one thing that was odd we got the complimentary chips and salsa like usual and we asked for an extra salsa for the table. Our waiter told us there was another spicier version and if we wanted to try it so we said sure. Now granted it was indeed spicier and it was great when we received our bill we say that sauce came at an extra charge about $4 extra i believe. Not a big deal but I think they should at least tell guests hey that sauce has an extra charge. But other than that awesome place, definitely check it out! read more

Overall a great experience! Beautiful redesign to the previous establishment. Everyone would make sure we had everything we needed even if they weren't our waiter/waitress, down to the owner! It being a new restaurant, there was a bit of a wait, however there is a less wait time for small parties. I see that there has been complaints on the "rude" hostess, I can attest to one of them being monotoned a bit snappy, but was quickly fixed by the second hostess who kindly took us over. Food was great and well worth the wait, especially for the area. Side note, please be kind to the staff, clearly slightly understaffed, and sitting here currently and can hear nothing but complaints from customers wanting free food and not pay while the workers have been nothing but polite and accommodating. read more

However I do not understand how our waiter could not tell there was, what seemed to be the soft drink machines part, in my drink?!?! The picture provided was the item in my drink after I poured my bev in another cup As for the food, what Mexican place pairs fries with a burrito? Not sure if the plate came with substitutions upon request, as I assumed it would have came w traditional sides like rice and/or beans. Not to mention the fries tasted so bland just like the meat in my burrito, I didn't even finish my small plate cause of the disappointment. 2/5 plates we received had that same "bland" taste to it. The green "salsa" taste like ranch but with a kick, doesn't even seem homemade unlike the red salsa. On two separate visits, I ordered chicken enchiladas, chicken tacos, chicken quesadillas, but each time, the chicken was disappointingly dry and tough. I can't say the black beans and rice was very good. Additionally, the queso lacked flavor and was overly diluted. The loud music further detracted from the dining experience. What can I say that hasn't already been said about the food, service, and ambiance here. I live around the corner from the restaurant and see that it's slammed every single night. It was not busy last night - for once - so I decided to take advantage of that and come thru. Was immediately greeted and seated upon entering. Manager and Hostess who greeted me were great. After being seated, was given a menu, and within a minute, a member of the service staff brought chips and two types of salsa Unfortunately I did have to wait more then ten minutes for my waitress to come by and ask for my drink. I had to actually flag down my hostess as she was seating another family and asked if she could find my waitress and send her my way. The salsa was hot and by that time my mouth was on fire. After another five minutes the waitress, Veronica, finally shows face. By then I made sure I was ready to order as I was afraid how long it would take for her to return post drink order. Once she engaged, I will say she was very pleasant to interact with and provided good recommendations as I had never eaten at any Doneraki location. She and a team mate brought out the food and it was delicious. Had shrimp quesadilla for the appetizer and beef fajitas for my meal. Both items were great and I would absolutely recommend these to others looking for something. Their menu can be intimidating and hard to follow along and focus while reading. There is a lot on it in different fonts and sizes. Your usual faves are there buried in the menu, but it never hurts to ask what specials are. I watched some neighbors orders get delivered and it gave me ideas on what to try next time I am there, and there will be a next time! I got over that initial wait and had a great experience.
