Called Steve yesterday afternoon because my garage door spring broke. He called back last night and came out first thing this morning to replace the spring. He needed a different spring than I explained on the phone. He had that on his truck and was able to fix our door in less than an hour. I have used Steve before for a spring replacement and he recommended a higher cycle spring as we use our garage door like a front door given our townhouse set up. I think his pricing is very fair and his recommendation to go with a higher cycle spring has saved us a lot of money. read more

Some of the positive reviews below appear to be fake from Yelp Users with suspiciously few reviews if you know what I mean... So the saga starts with trying to get Steve/Alight to even come after several phone calls. Then we got an appointment at 7AM. At around 7:40 we had to call him (yes, we had to call him) and he nonchalantly says he's had a busy day and forgot. I mean, we have to take off work for this sort of stuff. Garbage. He said he'd come by later and finally came around 10AM. Here, he proceeds to give us a song and dance about how our attempts to fix it had ruined the whole garage door and he'd have to do the job for $750 minimum, and suggested we replace the whole garage door instead of the broken spring for over $850. Pretty disparaging, since it's not like we mangled the door when we worked on it. So... late, rude, and ripoff. Not the best business model IMHO. Anyhow, there's a happy ending. We ended up paying $235 from All Star Garage Door Inc in Thousand Oaks, CA which I will write a positive Yelp review shortly after I publish this debacle. While Steve was replacing the garage door springs last June, he had mentioned that the opener probably has less than a year left on it. I could also tell the 1/2HP motor is just too small for the weight of the solid wood door. Wouldn't you know...the opener broke last Friday. Since I had such great experience with Steve when he replaced the spring last year, I called him again on a Monday afternoon and he was over the following day installing a new opener. He said I could have gone with the same opener, but since I knew the old was was pretty weak, I opted for his recommendation...the larger 3/4HP with the heavier duty track. Now the opener doesn't sound strained like the old one did opening the heavy door. Again, honest guy, great service and fair prices definitely has me recommending Steve to anyone needing garage door work! read more

Great Job - house looks great, feeling cooler temps in the garage thru the last heat wave - glab I upgraded to the 3ply with the insul. It's also quieter operation and the the kids rooms don't shake when the doors opening. Great professional advice on whether to go with 1 ply cheapo up to mock hinge carriage doors was great. All the options (including typical brands you'll see at Home Depot/Sears/Costco) were offered at no noticeable price difference, which was surprising. Web site was also great - was able to pull up picture of my own house and throw different looks for buy-in on final product from the wife. Steve handled pretty much all the details over emails and texts at non-traditional business hours (a little 4th of July work - sorry dude). Also really appreciated fitting us in on a tight schedule - couple days from 1st call to installed, no hassles, showed up when he said he would. Happy to recommend any time. Would reccomend anyone to contact them: affordable, quick, and local. I just purchased my home and had complications with the garage door. I made arragnments so my Mother could be there when Alight Overhead Door could come over. They came over qucikly and assessed the situation. Apparently I did not have the garage door openers, so Alight Overhead Door not only had the universal remotes with them but they also programed them to my garage and the gate garage! I was just in shock when my mother was telling me all that Alight Overhead Door did. A five star total recommendation! We had our springs fixed six months ago by a different company and we were already needing service again. We called Alight Overhead Door. Steve contacted us right away, he came out ON TIME! And he in totally setup is up with new springs and wheels and explained everything he was doing and why. I have to say, I called Steve after reading the last two reviews. One being from Steve himself. I called this afternoon with a broken roll-up garage door. The upper spring was broken. Steve was at my house within 20 minutes of my call for the repair. I just was very lucky with the timing. He was very professional and his charge for the repair was very fair. My garage door had been rewired, replaced spring twice, replaced opener during our 16 years residence.(The house was newly constructed when we moved in) I used to call whoever available and usually got repair person from other county. Since I had no clue about the garage door problems, I had to accept whatever they charged me:( The last two times I called Alight, a local company in NP. The owner Steve is nice to work with. I googled and knew what the service need to be done, then I called Steve of Alight. He returned the call within an hour and told me the time frame(1 hour) and quoted price. He showed up on time. Work fast and did a great job. His price is more reasonable than the person I got from valley 5 years ago.(for the same job of replacing spring). The part looks bigger and longer than the previous valley guy had, I hope it will last longer than 5 years. I called Steve because my 1964 vintage wooden Garage Door was on it's last legs and was only good for leaving dents in the hood of my car. In fact, I am fairly certain the door was starting to think on it's own and was hell bent on causing as much damage as possible. Steve was great, honest, and affordable. His service was great and he wouldn't accept payment until I had the opportunity to inspect his work. Overall a very satisfying experience. Steve Williams, the owner, has handled my family's garage door needs for over 6 years now and we wouldn't trust our home to anyone else! A recent example of this is where one of the springs over the door broke after only 6 years, trapping the car inside. It was late in the day and Steve responded quickly, realized he had a spring that would work on another truck and brought that worker over to help him install it right then and there! I have been sitting on this review for awhile as I wanted it to be my 500th review. As you can read from the other reviews, Steve is amazing! He is super friendly and professional, a kind man charging a fair price but doing excellent work. He replaced our garage door opener and springs. He explained every bit in detail and made the whole process very inviting. He started with, "let me come over and take a look at things, then I can tell you what you need." I appreciated that way more than just "here's what you need and it will cost..." The garage was clean and even more organized when he left, he put everything back in place and I didn't have to come back and clean up or change anything. Four months later our door is working great, smooth and quiet!! 499 other reviews I've written and this one is one of the most important I've written. Steve is great and I can't promote him and his company enough. He's one of those guys where you wished he did more or other things as you are happy to to give him money. Needed doors replaced that was rotting away. Called a couple places several never called back these guys did gave me a price which was reasonable I thought. To dbl check pricing called places that never called back the first time and finally got a quote from two of them. These guys were much more reasonable than I thought initially. They came out measured and checked my doors and price stayed the same as originally quoted. Couple weeks later I got them installed. They did a very good job and cleaned up after it was all done. Love the belt drive openers. Super quiet!!!! I now don't wake my family up when I leave early in the morning. I would definitely recommend these guys to a friend in the future. read more

My garage door was making a lot of noise when it would roll up and roll down so I called Alight to come repair the problem. The owner offered to come out immediately the next day. I asked him to come in the afternoon and I regrettably was not home as I promised, when he arrived. He had no problem coming back later in the afternoon. I was really pleased that he was still willing to come that same day and without hassle. The cables were replaced on my door and I was previously quoted by another company $200 for the repair. Alight came out and replaced them for FREE and didn't even charge me any labor. I was shocked at his generosity. If you need a new door or a repair, call this man! My garage door was not closing - the opener would open door but not always be ale to close the door. I called Steve to come take a look. The opener was old and noisy and needed to be replaced. We used Alight Overhead Door to replace our non-standard sized garage doors about ten years ago. Steve, the owner, is a consummate professional, and our doors look amazing. We have had no trouble with them at all. When our Genie exterior door opener (outside mount,) decided to act up (some ten years later,) we contacted Steve, and he was on it immediately. One of the support struts that gives the garage door its integrity broke making one of the panels that makes up the door sag and unable to open. Ed from Alight came out and attached a support strut. He also tighten the bolts on all the other panels. The garage door now works great and sounds more solid and secure. Alight Overhead Door was quick, thorough and did a great job at a fair price. Steve and Sherrie are excellent! We broke a decorative window insert on our Marathon garage door. Unfortunately Marathon has gone out of business and finding a replacement piece is nearly impossible. I called 3 other garage door companies with no help at all. Sherrie called me back quickly and was more than helpful. While on the phone with me, she climbed her shelves in her garage to see if she had one laying around! She went above and beyond to try and find one but came up short.
