We first went to see Dr. Gary for my daughter who had a stubborn knee pain, Dr. Gary was genuinely searching to find the root cause, did some test and gave her a serious of home exercises which helped tremendously and eventually no more pain. My other daughter also went and because she has a bit of flat feet, he helped recommended some great shoes which were subtle, but important and helped tremendously as we had gone through many shoes that were unfitting in her life. During each session, he would do a through test, and lead some exercises with you and make sure you do them correctly which was unlike other PT places. Dr. Gary is the closest to an actual wizard you will ever meet in your life. You know in Dr. Strange where that one dude was paralyzed and went to Kamartaj to find healing? I bet he actually went to Dr. Gary. I was also lost and in need of healing. I tore my calf from muay thai and also considered going to Nepal to find mystic healing, but I don't have surgeon-level money. So instead, I found Dr. Gary on yelp. This guy is extremely thorough. Before him, I would use online videos to try to PT myself, but in one evaluation, he told me the root cause of my issue, steps to get it better, and a great exercise list that helped strengthen the calf, rehabilitate it, and address the underlying issues that caused it. I did 5 sessions with Dr. Gary and my calf feels amazing. I also on passing asked about wrist injuries that I had for years because of hitting the heavy bag too hard and he gave me one workout that really fixed that up. How does he do that? One exercise? I'm sure there's a lot more to do to actually rehabilitate and fix it, but the pain went away, and that is insane. This man has an exercise for anything. You got back pains? Try this exercise. I found Dr. Gary on social media and went in for a consultation. After the first hour I decided to commit to his recommended number of sessions. First of all, Having a BACK PAIN is not fun at all. I have the problem most likely over 10years. (I am 42years old, no chronic health issue pretty healthy. No over or underweight) Some times it was worse or worst.. family Drs gave me muscle relaxants pain killers and steroids. And referred to physical therapy. This time about 3weeks ago I was just picking up my pants and my back had 10/10 pressure pain. Worst pain I ever had this time. Family Dr gave me same medications again. Also, Tried all kinds of patches (lidocaine patches, pain patches ..) Pain was not getting better, Still having pain, limited range of motion and so irritated everything due to the back pain. TODAY, I MET DR CHEN!! He was very kind, nice, very knowledgeable and professional. Caring the patient so WELL. I was a patient earlier this year at LPI Orange County and worked with Dr. Gary Chen. The experience was a 100% positive and I cannot recommend him enough. I had been plagued by sharp shoulder and arm pain for well over a year. I consulted other professionals and everyone misdiagnosed my condition or gave me recommendations that made no difference. My primary care doctor eventually referred me to an Orthopedic surgeon (which frankly scared me) and convinced me to reach out to Gary and LPI. Within the first session Gary had pinpointed the root cause of my pain and within a couple of sessions (and at home exercises) my pain was completely resolved. I met with Gary for five sessions and after we had taken care of the shoulder and arm pain he helped me proactively identify some other issues and work on those (e.g. ankle, feet, hip, etc). I've been dealing with some lower back pain and slight discomfort in my hamstring area. I initially thought it would go away on its own, but after a couple of months, it didn't seem to get any better. I was advised by some friends to get physical therapy, so I came here based on their recommendation. From the first consultation, I saw that Gary is the real deal. His office shares the same building as a Crossfit gym, so there was plenty of space and tools to work with. He was very thorough in examining my posture and lifestyle to figure out the source of my pain. Then, he prescribed some exercises and stretches that have been incredibly helpful. There are many things in life that require a professional analysis from someone who has done extensive study and practice. This is one of them. My months of online diagnoses and remedies haven't worked. Google told me I had proximal hamstring tendinopathy and then a herniated disc, but it was all just speculation. Gary helped accurately identify the issues, which allowed him to offer the proper exercises to alleviate the pain. I would have never stumbled upon these exercises on my own! He is incredibly thoughtful when it comes to programming, organized, data led, patient, does whatever is necessary to get you back into the activities you enjoy most. I spent close to 6 months with him and can say as of today -- back to normal. I came in for an ambiguous discomfort in my knee from running -- a numbing sensation right below the knee cap. No true injury involved, however to diagnose and treat a "sensation" with no actual structural or muscular damage is not easy. Dr Gary went to work, constantly measuring progress, looking for ways to provoke, and integrating different methods training. At first the movements were small -- and shockingly hard -- then we worked up and he was able to get my body into a position that no longer would create the tension in my legs which ultimately was causing the sensation I was feeling.
