Some of the worst boho braids ever. 1) You may pay for small or medium. The braids that you can see at the front will be what you paid for; the braids b the back are LARGER. 2) The boho braids slip out. 3) The installation left many straight ends sticking out. 4) The braider does what *she* wants rather than what is requested... and paid for. 5) The braider gets done quickly because she puts VERY large braids (rather than what client pays for) from just under the crown of the head to just above the nape of the neck. read more

Her prices are a little steep, but she does very good work. She sells hair at her shop, but I have always brought my own hair. She is very friendly and tries to give her clients what they ask for. I have gone to get a crochet hairstyle from her, and she always does it the way that I like it. She has the tendency to get busy during the day so I try to get in as early as I can so I can also get out ASAP. I used to receive services from Fatima/Alimah 2020-2021. Initially, she was kind, professional, and welcoming. I thought she was the best of the best and recommended my friends and family members to use her services. I will state she does an excellent job with styling. Unfortunately, The last time I received services, she showed a side of her no customer should ever have to witness. She talked trash about other customers whose hair she completed throughout the same day as my appointment. Her attitude was completely rude, condescending, and disrespectful. She kept complaining about being too tired to do hair yet she booked all of her appointments herself. She also had the audacity to stop during the middle of my appointment to wash and style her OWN hair. Which further delayed my time of being in her presence with such a shitty attitude. If you're that tired, don't overbook yourself and perhaps complete your customer's hair before doing your own so that way you can get out of your shop sooner. Furthermore, Alimah/Fatima had the audacity to state, " My attitude does not affect my work. I can be in a bad mood and still do your hair the way you want it." No ma'am that is completely false. Getting your hair done is an experience. Your attitude affects your customer service. I have not returned in 3 years and will never do so. I do not recommend this place of business to anyone especially when the stylist talks trash about other customers whose hair she completed right before doing yours. Not worth the negative energy and bad vibes. Find another place that appreciates their customers and can maintain a professional attitude. read more

Alimahs beauty salon is run and owned by the most professional, efficient and nice lady named Fatmatah. She is one of the few places in the bay area that works with my natural hair. I'm black and my fro is like a lion now. I followed her business from San Jose to Lathrop because she is so good. She braids a full thick head of hair in singles in under 3.5hrs!!! Come on people, if you are a braider you know that's amazing. I only come here from the Bay for my braids. Salon has braiding hair and hair products to buy. Clean, tv, eating shops all around. I can call one day and get my hair done usually within 48hrs if her schedule is open. Check her out. You won't regret it. read more

I always review a business from beginning to end and the beginning always starts with the first conversation. I've seen recent reviews here talking about the poor communication, I personally am not overly sensitive, I can tell between somebody who's very straightforward and direct versus somebody who is straight up rude. My initial conversation with the owner was very straightforward for the most part, respectful and I was able to schedule quickly. The days leading up to my appointment I did see a little bit of a shift towards disorganization, confusion, change of price and a tad bit of an attitude. I didn't get a chance to get my hair braided here but I was able to converse with the owner and in my years of getting my hair done it is the salon owner's job to deliver excellent customer service and help the client get the desired look without rushing the client and having a frustrated tone. It's a no for me, I will continue my search for another hair braider. Poor customer service is a deal breaker for me. When I pay for a service, I pay for the entire package. read more

I wanted to find a new spot to get my hair done regularly, so bad...but ...the price changed once I got there, then the outcome is nothing like the picture I showed. The 1st test braid that I approved, is the smallest braid in my head, the rest are considerably larger. Then she tried to convince me thats what I asked for, instead of just saying, I did them larger because you wouldn't agree to pay the higher price that I made up once you got here. I was running late to an appointment due to school testing, and since my mom couldn't take me she showed her true colors. She was like " your late this is not how you run business" even though i sincerely apologized. And even before, there have been times she has been late due to family events. I asked if she could still do my hair and she kept on coming back at me with "do you not want me to do your hair" and when my dad came in the room she agreed to do it. Later she had another appointment but she canceled on them and when the customer was angry, she used me being late as an excuse. she over exaggerated and said "it's not my fault my customer was 2 hours late" when i was only 30-45 minutes late. when she was done going back and forth with him and got off the phone, she relayed to a fellow friend that she didn't want to deal with the client that day. I found it very rude that she used me as an excuse, and was extremely rude to me in the absence of my mother because she knew i couldn't do anything. this is how you lose customers, I stopped going to her after many years of her doing my hair. read more
