The owner John is a good old guy. The pastry shop is a top tier dessert location. Get what you'll want which is pretty much the entire shop.

Everyone loves this bakery and I can see why. Aliotta's is legendary and people come from all over the city to patronize them. I personally love their cookies and their ice cream cakes. They sell cookie plates great to bring to people. I prefer bringing cookies to people rather than a cake because they're more communal. Plus, I love cookies. Their cannolis are also widely loved by my in laws. I tell them they should lay off them a little. They place is MOBBED at holidays so go early. Be prepared to pay, its not cheap but you get what you pay for. read more

This is seriously the most legit bakery in town. Their Italian pastries are the best - recommend the cannolis and cheesecake!! Besides that the shop has an awesome old school charm. The staff are also super friendly. I walked in one night with some friends and they had just closed, but the stayed open for a few minutes and let us get our stuff, and even gave us some freebies!! Ordered a chocolate cake, rainbow cookies, mini cakes that looked like Easter eggs, and some pignoli cookies. Chocolate cake had no taste to it that stood out and we couldn't tell if the middle was supposed to be pudding or a mouse. The rainbow cookies left an weird after taste and that wasn't just from my mouth but my guest's mouth too. Pignoli cookies were great! The .99 Easter mini cakes were absolutely horrible, we bought 5 and they were hard as a rock and tasted stale. Customer service was fantastic. Next time I will try other cookies and cakes. read more

I have eaten various pastries and the like from here so decided to order my husband's birthday cake. I went in one week ago, placed an order. I work in the 911 emergency services system in the area and received a call while ordering. The woman I spoke with said to come back. The day got away so I called, and spoke with a female who answered the phone. I explained I couldn't get back today before the shop closed (being that it was busy). She said that was fine, she would still place the order and just to pick it up on the date agreed. I explained that I hadn't left a deposit though, she said that was fine that she had my number and that if anything changed she would call to arrange another time to drop it off before the day I needed the cake. Having not heard anything, I go in about 10 minutes ago to discover the cake was never ordered. To make it worse, it would appear the lady I spoke to and dealt with, would not come out of the back to explain and had the poor counter staff girl do it instead. I have until 4pm to find a cake. I'm a paramedic working until 3pm. I hate to, but can honestly say, thank you for ruining a fairly large part of my husband's birthday. I really appreciate it. read more

Ahhh the great debate in my family: which is better, Aliotta or its Ave N rival. They both have their strong points, but heres where I draw the line. Aliotta wins when it comes to pastries, if for no other reason than their much more modern facilities which help keep the goods fresh. That isn't to say the cookies aren't bad, however, but their rival beats them decisively there. I'd rate Aliotta four and a half stars. My family has been coming to this Italian bakery for years for birthdays and holidays. We usually pick up assorted cookies while picking up whole cakes on occasion. I'd recommend anything from the shop. I LOVE this magical Bakery. I'm old school (well at least about manners, respecting your elders, and BAKERIES!) I grew up in Manhattan, across the street from "Cake Masters". Baked goods were a huge part of my childhood memories, reminding me of my grandmother that seemed to only live off sweets. When I moved to Brooklyn, I longed for an old fashion bakery, the kind you walk into and are greeted as if you're family (Layla and Michelle are my faves! They're so nice and friendly), you are overcome by the delicious smell of beautiful baked goodies, and you are brought back to being a child, and like a kid in a candy shop. You want everything! !! And I need to tell you, that everything there, is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, AND FRESH!! I would give this place zero stars if I could. I went in there one day while they were training this young lady. They were screaming at her, berating her to the point that she looked like she was on the verge of tears. On top of that the half dozen chocolate croissants I ordered weren't fresh and damn near stale. read more

Cakes and pies are hit and miss if you get one make sure it's a popular seller , looks don't guarantee freshness or taste. I came in this store Monday June 15th craving a sweet. I decided to buy the chocolate chip cookies thinking they can't go wrong with this. I bought a strawberry shortcake a few days ago. The cake was tasteless, too much frosting. The only good thing about the cake was the strawberries on top of it other than that straight garbage. I love this place, they have delicious pastries, cakes, & cookies. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is because they do not accept debit/credit. They do however have an atm on site. Unfortunately the day I went, the machine was down, so I had to go elsewhere. If you're a person who always carries cash on you, you will not be disappointed. read more

1 of my humble, beautiful down to earth customers graced me with her presence yesterday. Uncovered that she is a Baker and has a shop.  Stopped by after work to pick up a cake for yet another special individual and I must say, I was blown away the moment I pulled up and saw her beautifully decorated window display.  Inside was so warm and welcoming with some of the  yummiest pastries,  cakes and cookies I've ever seen. We were so disappointed in our last order from here. We ordered the 12 assorted pastries as well as some other treats to pick up, however they ran out of 2 of the pastries in our assorted box but did not tell us. I totally get running out of things in the morning rush (even though I placed my order over a week ago) but just let me know so we can figure out what to substitute. Instead they just added 2 pastries that were honestly gross which we did not discover until we were home. We called them about the substitute but they rushed me off the phone and told me they would call me back but never did. Terrible customer service. So disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE .. I've been going here for years and it was great but recently the service is horrible, the sales girls has NO CLUE of the products. I ordered a cake and it was horrible.. 90% of the cake was buttercream from the frosting to the 2 fillings. I ordered and paid extra for fruit filling and they mixed the fruit with buttercream. It was the most disappointing cake ever for over $30.00 .. the cookies are good, carrot cake is good but other than that .. Service Knowledge, Birthday Cake and Salesgirls ... HORRIBLE! read more
