He did some test areas on my first visit, in addition to my Brazilian, so that I could get an idea of the results for those areas. My arms will be next and then I'll be done. The first one was OK, but I'd waited 29 minutes on hold before I was able to get a person to make an appointment. When I called the next day about a follow-up issue, I was on hold 10 minutes before I hung up and just drove over and demanded to see the doctor (they let me in to see herabout 15 minutes later). I never went back. The second one I went to see a few months later wanted to charge an additional $50 for removing a small spot. Each additional spot was only $15 extra and of course this wasn't covered by insurance. I didn't bother getting the small spots removed and never went back. It took a while to get an appointment with Dr. Rasmussen but it was worth the wait. The first thing he did was apologize for being a few minutes late. He did a thorough exam and prescribed a few items that I'll be using. He also took enough time to discuss the issues I went to see him about. I love the fact that he gave me his own extension as well as a direct line to the scheduling department. He also has a secure portal, which is my favorite (and easiest) way to to contact the doctor directly. I'm very pleased and will be using him as my Dermatologist from now on.

In 2024 I went to him because of a lesion on my leg and I asked specifically whether it could be a Leiomyosarcoma. He looked at it and said it was benign, and didn't spend very much time with me. He may have been busy that day. Fast forward to this summer and I went to another Austin Regional Clinic dermatologist, Dr. Campa, because the lesion was throbbing. She immediately did a biopsy and it was, indeed, a Leiomyosarcoma. In the 15 months between when Dr. Rasmussen told me the lesion was benign and when it was diagnosed as a Leiomyosarcoma, the lesion grew and metastasized. Surgery at MD Anderson was on Nov 4, 2025. They had to take out an 8cm x 8cm chunk out of my leg. I've been told the tumor will likely return in a couple years. If it comes back in my lungs or kidneys, I will be facing chemotherapy and major cancer treatment.

I already knew going in that I would need 10-12 sessions to remove it. After three sessions the laser at the Bee Cave location broke, and I had to cancel my appointment. I intended to reschedule once they got a new machine, but life happens and I never did. After not rescheduling COVID happened and I lost track of time. Yesterday, 4/28/21 I went to the north location for my fourth laser removal session. Portcia (sorry not sure on spelling) was great! She had me ice my wrist for 5 minutes prior to the laser session. This caused vasoconstriction effectively reducing my swelling and under the skin bleeding. It's one day later and I have almost no discomfort. Highly recommend going here for tattoo removal. I can't wait for my next session!

Up until recently, I never had any issues when receiving my Trezepited shots in person. Nurse Practitioner Ashley Johnson and Dr. Paydon Newman both provided excellent care and really helped me achieve my goals--this review does not reflect on them at all. However, after switching to semiglutide, the first shipment arrived without a problem, but the second one never showed up. The UPS delivery photo was just a black screen, even though I was home all day. I filed a missing package claim with UPS and also contacted The Medspa Austin and the fulfillment company in Dallas. Everyone was polite and tried to help, but ultimately referred me back to The Medspa Austin because they needed to complete a form UPS had provided. Despite my efforts, The Medspa Austin would not replace the missing shipment, citing the "delivered" tracking information, and asked me to pay an additional $200 for a new shipment. I wasn't asking for a discount or a refund--I just wanted the shipment I had already paid for. This has been extremely frustrating, especially given the amount of money I've already spent and my previously positive experiences with their team. Until this missing shipment issue is resolved, I cannot recommend The Medspa Austin. However, I do want to emphasize that my negative experience does not reflect on Ashley Johnson or Dr. Paydon Newman, who both provided wonderful care.
