In June 2024, my family drove two hours for an appointment to view (what we thought were) tables at Alive Edge Designs. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a facility that felt much more like an art studio than a workshop. The owner and his family greeted us warmly and took the time to explain their entire process. After exploring their stunning selection, we chose a beautiful wood slab for a custom dining table for our new home. We specified the dimensions, finish, and leg design - placed a deposit, and within a couple of months, had the table delivered to our home. It was everything we had hoped for--far better to any table we considered purchasing (for months) from traditional furniture stores. This table is not just furniture; it is a true work of art. Every person who sees the table asks the same question: "Where did you get this table?" As a special touch, the owner even carved each of our names and the year on the underside of the table. Without a doubt, we would make this purchase 10/10 times. We are already planning to order more pieces from Alive Edge in the future. Thank you for helping make our new home so special. If you are considering a custom piece, do not hesitate! 10 stars!

Great energy and unbelievable product! We are in LOVE with our new table! Erica and Larin are so passionate about what they do, we had a great experience and will be recommending everyone to go through them! Custom work is worth the wait - especially when the outcome is even better than you could imagine. Larin took exactly what we asked and made it even better!

WOW such an amazing experience working with Erica. She is Super sweet and very responsive with emails, texts and answered all of my 10,000 questions, lol. Ive been looking for a dining table with a live edge within my budget but no luck until i stumbled upon Alive edge online. In the beginning i wasnt sure how it was going to work since this is an online company and me being 400 miles away but Erica was such a pro at this and guided me thru the entire process with Picture updates and texts. She was also very accommodating with my requests and made every effort to make sure i am happy with my decisions. When my custom table was finally ready, Erica made freight arrangements to best work with my delivery schedule. When it arrived, It was no joke moving the table from the freight box into our home but good thing we were forewarned by Erica about having at least 2-3 muscle guys around for that part... The table itself is absolutely GORGEOUS and beautifully crafted. I could not be any more happier with the end result. So thank you Erica for making this such an easy and wonderful experience. 10 stars all the way and a bag of chips...

I shopped for a table for my new place for a few months. I went to all the stores that offer great tables (West Elm, CB2, Crate and Barrel, Room and Board) and I thought they made okay tables. A lot of them would shake if you just put your hand down on them and moved it from side to side - which I thought was a little weird for a table so pricey to be so unstable. I took my friends recommendation to go to a local woodworker in town and to explore that as an option. I went to a few places in the Arts District (like Parkman Woodworks) and other places and found everyone to be so friendly and amazing. It was truly fantastic to find a plethora of people in Los Angeles offering great work. Lots of places used reclaimed wood from buildings in Los Angeles and had awesome work on display. A few people asked for my specs and they quoted me a price - it was expensive but this custom work always is, so I knew what I was getting myself into. One of the businesses I asked tried to sell me a table they were just finishing that was 66 inches in length but it was a bit too small for my place. It was beautiful and they said they'd work with me on going larger but it'd take longer for them to obtain the correct inventory. I kept searching and eventually found Erica and Larin through Etsy. I then did some research and found their Yelp reviews to be very positive. I called and spoke to Erica and set up a time to come by (they were VERY responsive). I traveled to Sherman Oaks to visit their shop (which is really a large storage unit) with lots of teak boards from India/Indonesia/Asia that were absolutely beautiful. Larin and Erica showed me around and it was honestly the best experience I've had searching for a table. They were SO friendly and Larin showed me (I really mean "muscled" here because the boards are 100+lbs and he kept moving them from side to side to show me more because they were stacked vertically to save space) all the inventory he had. He encouraged me to find a board I liked and told me that he'd take that and make the table and bench set out of that for me to the exact dimensions and specs I wanted. I appreciated this fact the most as some of the other places weren't so receptive either because of their inventory or trying to sell tables they already had on hand. I don't think most people have such an incredible or personal experience while buying a table! They were so patient with me and just kept reminding me that I should select a teak board that speaks to me and they tried to tell me which attributes would shine through when the stain and clear coat were applied. I finally selected a board that I loved that had natural long grey elements running through it. It had enough of an alive edge but not one that was too extreme - as it was important I could sit and write or work at the table and it not just be for show. Larin and Erica delivered the table themselves roughly 3 weeks after the initial order and they were really good sports about it - I have 46 steps to the front door of my home and they didn't complain once about it. Larin and his cousin muscled it up the stairs with no problems at all. I think Larin and Erica are wonderful people and you will be very lucky to do business with them. Larin is a very skilled craftsman and I think he'll make a table that you will be very happy with! Every guest that has come over has complimented my table and it's great knowing the people behind the art - they're really amazing people and I think they deserve your business! -- I think it's important to note that the clear coat that was applied to protect against moisture damage seems to be the only minor downside. It is great against water but it seems to be wearing off at points, it's hard to say from what. Larin noted that keys or hard metals can scratch it off but I've been conscious of that, although, not too conscious. I have some knicks that have chipped away the clear coat after a few months. I waited a few months to post it to see how it'd hold up. I'd say it's held up okay overall but it seems I need to baby it more than I'd like. I will say it's small marks but they are visible.

We dont usually post things online but thought we would given what a great experience we had. Many of our comments would be similar to what Cindy C said. We also required our table to be shipped 1,500 miles to get here. Bottom line, with Erica's knowledge and help guiding us through with pictures, suggestions, etc. it came out exactly as we hoped. I'll try to post pictures if I can figure it out! OK we figured it out. As you can see the table is awesome, and it came very well packaged in a giant crate they built. Beware - it is VERY heavy and took 4 of us to get it out of the crate and into the house!

I'm so happy I came across this business on yelp. We had been looking for a live edge table for over a month and didn't come across something that was a perfect fit. Erica was able to schedule an appointment to look at the slabs and we selected the perfect slab at their onsite location. A reasonable turnaround was quoted and the team at live edge delivered our custom pieces to our home. Such a smooth transaction. We have one of a kind pieces and the quality is priceless!

Alive Edge did an amazing job building an awesome table that totally enhanced the interior of our home. I searched high and low for a couple of weeks until I stumbled across this company on the internet. The value you get from the quality of the slabs to the amazing craftsmanship put in to developing the table is why 5 stars is a no brainer. Everyone wants this table for their own. We could have paid twice as much for a lesser result easily. If you are anxious about working with them sight unseen don't be. They provide pictures and samples of various stains making the development of the piece enjoyable and exciting. But be patient, something this amazing takes time don't expect it right away, each piece is custom made.

Erica was absolutely fantastic to work with! We love our table and were so happy with the process. It took four weeks to start with the slab until the finished product and they keep me apprised if the status the entire way. Just

You'll be inspired to switch up your whole decor aesthetic after just one visit! A friend recommended we check them out when we moved into a new house and our beloved couch that we'd literally had for decades... like while we were just dating... was not working in our new space. We needed a custom size and wanted the L shape to create a scenario where our family of four could curl up together and make key memories before the kids head off to college in a few years. We had never designed a couch before but definitely had some thoughts and ideas. The staff were there for it and vibed with us on it over multiple visits, calls, and emails. It was a BIG step for us and they held our hands the whole way. We must have sat on every couch there over the course of 3 visits and in the end, designed with them the PERFECT couch. Everyone was completely lovely. But here's where it gets really good. My husband wanted a low, deep, lounge style but I felt like I needed a little more stucture so we combined the styles of two couches, keeping it low and loungey but adding a second row of cushions so you or a guest can choose if you want to be laid back or more upright. It's the best of wboth worlds and completely flexible for older guests who would be swallowed up in a couch this deep. It's gorgeous... we sat down with them (on that couch!) and plotted it all out, with the L facing the right way in our house to make sense and bring the space to life. Mady hand-sketched it all up right then and there. The delivery team was so nice and lovingly unpacked the whole thing and were so sweet when I had a major brain fog moment and freaked out that they had made a mistake and designed the L facing the WRONG WAY! In quite a panic, I called the shop and reached Noa, who calmly dealt with my extreme freak out. The delivery team patiently waited for the whole thing and consoled me as I shed a few tears. Noa offered to come take a look at it IN MY HOME to assess the situation. A few days later, I'm walking through my home with them (Noa and her mom, the owner!) and we are all chatting about how it actually looks awesome in the orientation that it's in. I still had sworn that I didn't design it that way but agreed that it actually felt like I should have. They were calm, poised, creative, open, and completely invested in making sure their handmade piece felt perfect in my space. They were not aggressive nor accusatory... just there to see how best to resolve the issue, knowing that it was a custom-built piece. And they were lovely humans as well. We talked about art and design, building a business from the ground up, and the challenges with keeping a small business afloat during economic downturns and worldwide pandemics. Months later, I realized that no one made any mistakes and we actually designed it just like this, and it's been my absolute favorite thing in my home ever since. I think about this experience often, and I'm so grateful for their graceful reaction and approach. The couch itself is a standout in the space and sets the tone for the rest of our decor. It's comfortable beyond belief. It's easy to maintain, has held its shape for years now, and is easy to clean. We got it in a cream fabric, so that was a worry, but they taught us how to care for it easily! Not only does it hold our whole family, but a lot more people when the kids have friends over. It has helped shape not only our space from a design perspective but in how we interact within the space and with each other. And we get so many compliments on it. The quality and craftsmanship are unmatched. We couldn't be happier. THANK YOU! But what really stands out is that in this age of faster, cheaper, AI, and automation, this company is a family business of artisans that care deeply for the products they craft and the impact on their customers and clients. They want you to love the pieces you bring home, and they care to work with you until you do. They love art and design, so definitely take their suggestions!! Their pieces show that love and care and offer you a heightened level of quality and comfort. They are well worth the price, and I hope that you will pop your head in the shop and judge for yourself. You may just bring home a new piece that feels like an extension of your own family. You won't regret it!! I recommend them to all my friends and anyone looking for new furniture. They are the BEST!

But when LUIS, one of the family owners, got word and took over... I could not be happier with the outcome. As a business owner I KNOW beyond ALL DOUBT that you CANNOT have a flawless experience every time NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WANT IT. The truth of a great business is HOW you handle the bad experiences and make good on your commitment. Not everyone can be made happy but the important part is that you know you did what was right. They DID WHAT WAS RIGHT and THEN SOME MORE and for that they get all the respect and appreciation I can share with another business owner. Short version of the long story IF you are still reading. They sent me a GLORIOUS art piece for my office. It ended up TOO BIG to get down the hall despite all my planning (entirely my fault) so I had to hire a contractor to take a window out, get it through the window and reinstall. That took weeks after delivery. BUT a few weeks later I am sitting on my couch and my friend declares "shit, it's already torn!". Not quite right, it had an unseen seam, hidden in the pleat. Every time you sat on it, it spread and showed the batting. For WEEKS I fought with staff about it being addressed. They offered solutions then retracted them as not being achievable. Each time we discussed one thing the employee ghosted me for weeks. When the owner took over, he accepted no excuses, owned the problem and dealt with the employee. Then he arranges to ENTIRELY REMAKE the couch to an EVEN BETTER OUTCOME (and I am sure at some significant expense). I had to hire a contractor again to get the old one out (my expense agreeably because THAT was my error not theirs), but he covered all the return shipping, REDESIGNED the entire couch to better specs both for my own staure (made it a bit shorter and a bit less deep, NOT and easy redesign for a mid-century piece like this), made the fusion removable to ensure heirloom longevity and the ability to reupholster in the future, gave me a batting/fill upgrade, changed out the leather to an upgrade, AND stayed on top of communication with me the whole time. 100% satisfied and then some. Many thanks guys. In terms of spending money with a company... I would do it again for sure when I am ready.
