It's been years since I've been here, and it was nice to be back. Parking is still difficult to find, but you'll find one after driving through the neighborhood streets a couple of times. Beautiful day, many people with families of all types, yet plenty of space for settling in to a sandy spot. Other areas has lots of rocks to checkout the marine life. If you get hungry, there are many cute restaurants along the beach. There is Starbucks and Tullys, as well. Get out and enjoy! read more

What do you do when you are surprised with a nice bright sunny day in Seattle during January-well you pretend it is summer and hit the beach. It was gorgeous on Saturday so packed up the kids and met up with a friend to stroll Alki. Kids on their bikes while the adults pushed the strollers was just what mother nature ordered. Even though it was nice, you get fooled into believing we have slipped into the Seattle Spring Thaw. How soon you forget that no matter what the weather that the waterfront is always cold as the wind blows in over the deep blue beach. Lots of people were out strolling with the same idea with rosy cheeks peeking out over the collars of their zipped up coats. I suggest always bringing a windbreaker here just in case no matter the season. It seems like everyone was appreciative over the winter pardon that people were smiling and nodding as others walked by. We stopped for fish and chips to warm up and then continued our walk back to the car. While I love this beach and it has been a long time favorite of mine a caution must accompany this review ****DO NOT park under a street light. The birds must have been running some sort of drill exercise/training because they used my car for target practice. One of the birds must have ate something rotten because the bird cool-whip might have left a dent in my hood. I'm surprised my car alarm didn't go off. Next stop brown bear to wash off all the cool-whip. read more

I liked the bike path around the beach - we rented and rode bikes for about an hour. We stayed at Alki beach for a while to see the annual storming of the beach by pirates. It was a cute little festival event with kids' activities, food, vendors, and music, but the pirates really didn't ham it up like I expected them too. (day or night) 2. great for peoplewatching all year round 3. nice selection of restaurants 4. great location for jogging/skating/boarding/biking 5. west seattle shopping/dining nearby but be careful... 1. during the "on" season... parking is tough if you come after 11. prepare to take a small hike or drive back-and-forth for a while. 2. no dogs on the beach. 3. you'd be better off trying to look at yourself on the matte side of aluminum foil than using the "mirror" in the women's restroom. read more

As dad and a husband in a wheelchair, I'm ecstatic to find a beachfront so wheelchair accessible, even the bathrooms ON the beach!

beautiful beach, lovely vibe and wonderful views. on a summer's day, i'm sure this is the place to be. really easy to get to from downtown seattle too - just take the water taxi over from pier 50. when you arrive across the water a shuttle can take you to alki beach, but we walked it, and it was an awesome walk along the waterfront - maybe just under 2 miles in total. read more

A trip to Alki Beach ALWAYS brings back teenage memories of cruising on a Friday or Saturday night. There wasn't a better pickup spot in the city. The coolest kids, the coolest cars... Taking the rose colored glasses off, it's still a great place to hang out and watch the roller bladers, beach volleyball games and lots of people. Grab some fish & chips from Spuds, say hello to the Statue of Liberty and go sit on the beach and watch the ferries in the bay. If you have a naturalist bent, go at low tide and check out all the sea critters under the rocks. read more

No playground here (unless you walk to nearby Whale Tail Park) but this is always a favorite for our kids. They love to play in the sand, throw rocks in the water and get all wet. Going to Alki Beach is always a hit! read more

I love the beach and was really looking forward to going to Alki while on my Seattle vacation. However, I was pretty disappointed. There is a sandy stretch of beach, but pretty small, perhaps only about half a mile long. The rest of the area is covered with pebbly shores. I didn't even realize that I beach could have so many rocks. It's not to say this area isn't beautiful. I was here around sunset and the views are gorgeous. I did appreciate the free shuttle that travels to and from the marina. read more

Just visited this beach, and the first thing that totally impressed me, was that I was able to find a parking spot across from the beach on the main stretch of land without any problem, and I'm an awful parker!! I found it as soon as I got there, and pulled right in, oh so good. At first I was not too impressed with the beach, because people were just sitting on the grass, but then I saw the view, and that was amazing. We ate at this place there, and the food was alright, but it had a very good atmosphere. All in all it's a cool place to go to, you can't go in the water, so that's why my review was a little lower, but the view is totally worth checking it out. read more

ahh... so many memories at this beach. from teenage drunken debauchery, bbq's, just to smoke a few cigs, a place to meet up 60 of your friends, after parties, summer stroll around the strip, ride in the car and yell at cute guys or friends, a place to show off your new outfit to strangers, watch biker (harleys or suzuki's) boys, skateboarders, roller bladers, etc. if you're cool, you're at Alki during the summer. i've been there at all times. morning, afternoon, evening, midnight, 6, 7, or 8am standing on tables and flashing morning joggers (umm yeah) as a result of some alcoholic beverages and substances... ANYWAY... it's quite relaxing before all the teens, booty shorts wearing rollerbladers, and wife beater wearing womaniziners start over populating the spot. so go there early... or really late. i like to sit by the docks at night w/ buddies and let the waves rock us back and forth. it's right after you pass the Salty's. read more

Awesome place to run, walk, bike ride, roller blade or take the dog for a walk. You will take in the breath taking views of the Olympic mountains and Seattle on your way down to the beach. Alki beach gets really busy in the summer time and all the parking gets filled up really fast, so I would advise anyone to get here really early. If you want to go for a nice cruise this is the place to do it with the amazing view and the restaurants near the beach. On the beach they have BBQ pits, volleyball nets and there always seems to be something fun going on during the weekends. It doesn't matter if you have lived here for years or it's your first time the epic views will blow your mind. read more

This place has no parking in the summer and is getting to populated. People are getting snobby. Do not let your dog off leash. People are jerks about it and the animal control is out there in nice weather issuing tickets. The roller bladers almost ran over my dog. It was too crowded and not fun at all. Pretty views of the city and a nice path to walk on! Parking was super easy as well which is always a plus. I don't really see what all the fuss is about concerning the beach itself but this may have to do with the fact that I'm from California and sandy beaches are nothing unusual. read more

would not go out of the way to visit this beach if in Seattle for a few days only. i did grow up in a beach community and Alki did not impress. it is sleepy. hot. air is not moving. the water ice cold. looks like a beautiful lake that pretends to be a sea. no open ocean shore, pleasant breeze or splashing waves. maybe just not today. read more

I thought this place was dog friendly per the reviews.... Parking was impossible too. Beach was littered and not well maintained.

The view from here (of the Seattle Skyline) is one of the top two best views in all Seatlle (next to Kerry Park). Come here for a run along the water and stay for the sunset. To your left is an amazing sunset with the mountains in the background. To your right is the Seattle skyline with all lights. If you come at the right time and on a clear day, it's absolutely amazing. Enjoy. read more

This is one of the few most popular beaches in the Seattle area. Spectacular view of downtown Seattle, nearby restaurants along the strip, beach volleyball players during the warmer months and everyone of all ages hanging out in one location. Wow I can't believe it took me this long to finally make it to Alki Beach. I never go to West Seattle. I still haven't seen it during the day, but the breathtaking view of Seattle at night was enough to sell me on it! I like this view better than Gasworks and I think it rivals Kerry Park for one of the best views of Seattle actually. The area around it is super cute and I'll have to come back during the day...or at night...or just come back in general! read more

My wife and I come here 2-3 times a week to walk n jog our dogs. We live 5 min away. It's usually beautiful and peaceful. (At certain times.) I actually prefer it when it's colder n rainy because less crowds n people to put up with. During summer it's crazy busy. Forget riding a bike because no one moves for you even in the "bike lane" people are jus people I guess only worried about themselves n selfish. So that's why 4 stars because I stay clear during summer. read more

We came to Alki Beach late at night to view the city lights from downtown Seattle. It was beautiful but cold! This is the perfect place to take photos of downtown Seattle during the night or day. read more

Not much required to say here. Sand, Surf, Volleyball and Seattle. A great running path for walkers, joggers and doggies too. Shopping, and great people watching location. What a wonderful place to be when the weather is Hot like the view. read more

If you're debating whether to go to golden gardens or alki I would say alki is a must! Better view, food near by and decent parking

Alki is amazing!! The beach is fun to hang out at and there are lots of restaurants to enjoy! You can walk, ride, skate, drive, kayak, etc. And the sunsets from this location are stunning! This is definitely a place I like to visit on a frequent basis!! read more

So beautiful and such a relaxing place to be love taking my dogsitting clients that live near for walks there though they can't go on the beach anymore it's still incredible and great exercise! For someone who lived in Florida for quite a while, I had to laugh at Seattle's version of a beach. No waves, people. A redeeming quality is the NW-take on the beach, as there are plenty of logs to perch on and a few fire pits for those who want to bbq. Very cool. I really like the area in general, but it seems like there's always too many people/traffic here. The views at sunset of the Olympics are quite amazing though. Oh yeah, wierdest thing: radio reception is reduced to nothing for 89.5 once you go around the bend at the northernmost point of West Seattle. Do get some fish-n-chips from Spuds and take it to the beach. read more

A gorgeous view of the downtown seattle skyline. The walkway is nice. It's very peaceful. There is a beachy area is fairly active, but fun lookin'. It would be fun to play volleyball over there. When you look out into the water, you can see fish jump out. :D read more

I love Alki Beach! I'm from Texas, and each time I come to Seattle, I visit Alki Beach. If you're a rock lover, this is the place to be! There are so many beautiful rocks along the shore. Visiting the Starbucks along the shore is a must! Very cute and cozy! read more

This place is truly great on a sunny day. Nice breezes and great views. I think it is the only sandy beach in Seattle, which accounts for the large crowds on good days. Lots of good restaurants and a few nice shops nearby. Parking is never easy so if you can find another way here (bike, bus, water taxi) I would recommend that. read more

Ahh history, about nine months out of the year its the only thing to com to mind as you walk against the slightly brisk wind coming off the water and into a cafe or Starbucks across the street. It has history brr. The other four months are usually spent watching teenagers play volleyball and rip up the road in their parents cars playing the top 100 music they think will best find them the opposite sex from about noon until dusk. At night apparently grown ups have been seen here. But being caught in between OMG he looks great in swim trunks and the legal age to get Hammered the beach itself really holds no charm for me unless I'm with a really sweet child relative who wants to see it. Also on weekdays in the summer quiet couples and families are also seen here, that's when those tasseled bike-carts make their rounds. read more

This place was kinda crowded but what can you expect for a holiday weekend? Lots of people hanging out and having fun. My recommendation is to grab lunch and use the restroom at a nearby restaurant because the public bathrooms were pretty gnarly. read more
