By the time I got out from my truck they ( 3-5people ) unloaded my trailer without my permission and this happened the second time even though I complained the first time .I was there with a friend , we did not need any help . It is our stuff, we put it on the scale not their five people rushing to unload without our permission . I am not sure if their workers are legitimate workers and they are aggressive , nasty talking people. Rushing one through the process only has the purpose of cheating on the pay, making one go with three aluminum cans bags on the steel scale ( with the truck and trailer on the scale ) has the same purpose., cheating the customers. I called earlier before arriving to see what the price of bare bright was and when I got there they said the price changed and can't do anything about it. Was 15 cents cheaper when I arrived so they basically just tell you a better price to get you there then when you go to cash register you find out they taking more. Do not go here I was cheated out of $207 dollars. I have been scrapping for a long time and can say the woman running the scale and pay outs belongs in jail. She made a deduction and made up a B/S story that there was something else on the scale with my scrap. they re weighed it and I got the same number I wrote down the first time they put it on the scale. I know she was not telling the true the numbers did not add up. What she said they deducted was less than what they actually deducted. You have to wonder how much does she skim everyday. I could not take my scrap back because it was mixed in with other scrap in a big box on a pallet. I will go back to another place I use that pays a little less and still come out ahead. I would give them no stars if possible. The Joliet location is the worst Scrap Yard I have ever dealt with, and I have dealt with many over the years. The currently closed Ford Heights location was good. The Joliet employees are generally rude, do not answer questions, do not tell the truth, try to rush the process and cause confusion in order to cheat you out of your true scrap value earnings. They certainly do not inspire confidence. They seem to try to cheat you in any way possible. Case in point, I brought a container of copper to the Joliet location that would be classified as copper one with Big Daddy, Got Scrap, Gaby, Berlinsky or even the former All American Ford Heights location. They immediately grabbed the container and dumped the entire contents without my permission and then deducted the weight of the container without even weighing it. When I went to the scale with the container to weigh it, the employee tried to stop me. I was not sure of his motivation until I weighed the container and found out it was much less than he had estimated, by 3 pounds. Multiply that by the approximate $4 price per pound of copper one and that is an $12 loss to the customer for either the workers laziness or intent to cheat. They even tried, unsuccessfully, to classify the contents as copper three, which I had never heard of previously at any scrap yard before this incident. I had previously called management to point out their employees rude behaviors in previous incidents, but to no avail. They simply did not care. Read the detailed reviews, not the 5 star reviews made by company plants, and you will be shocked, in a bad way. All American should have closed the Joliet location, not the Ford Heights location. The employees that deal with customers are generally rude and ignorant. Management should care but it appears they do not. The prices are good but be aware of the tactics they use to cheat the customers. Hopefully management will do something positive. I would like to be able to work with them on a fair and equitable basis. read more

I usually have a good experience here. My preferred yard in the area. Today was different. I took my load in as usual. Separated by grades. Weighed it all. And cashed out. I was greeted nicely and had help uploading. During my cash out the power went out. I was waiting of course till power resumed. Cashed out. REALLY low. Like low low. Almost 1/3 of what I expected. Did a double take at the window. She had said yeah thats your ticket. I left. No way in hell I only had the 150lbs. I loaded a trailer, by grades. Same size load as previous years but only about 30% of the pay. I was stunned and confused and I left. Compared last years reciecpt and obviously the price is better, but that does no good when the miss weight. The math didn't add up. Something happened when the power went out. There was a person who hit it on head about this place. They rush you through pay less than they say and when you bring it up the stuff you brought in has already been removed and gone. This place is a scam ! One time maybe a mistake to happen exact same way again and hear other people say same thing, go somewhere else and get what your stuff is worth, avoid this place ! I have to step in here and defend this operation, as with a lot on people, plastic and extra soil sand water is not paid for, yet when you see the scale you forget you must deduct waste... the owner and management and staff here do try there best to let some stuff slide and just pay you for it. but when you bring in items that are not recycle ready they must pay there team to make it ready. so yes you will have waste deducted. most scrap yards will refuse all together unclean items, washers and dryers and dish washers all have plastic that must be removed. and remember scrap price can and will change anytime. i ONLY use this company because there fair and the staff is friendly. want top price clean your scrap and be free of all added waste like plastic..sand..water..oils and cloth. read more
