The freezer stopped working and we lost a ton of frozen food. Since the fridge is cooled from the freezer, we lost all that food too. Plus all the water we had to clean up,,, yuck. Mike showed up on time. He did an inspection and stated it could be one of two things, both equal in cost but still less than the $2500 for a new fridge/freezer. He installed the one part and bam, it worked. So he puts a bottle of water in the freezer, says if it's frozen in the morning there shouldn't be any problems. If not give him a call and he'll get the other part and install it for a deal. That wasn't necessary cause that bottle was frozen in 5 hours and is still frozen days later. Stay away unless you have deep pockets and don't mind sarcastic and belittling remarks. Called All City Refrigeration on Sunday afternoon. Spoke with Mike and told him that the water dispenser on our refrigerator stopped working. He stated that he could come on Monday, I asked about a ballpark charge but was told it would depend on the issue. I was informed that he could come by on Monday between 11:00 and 1:00 PM. Mike called and stated he would arrive just after 11:00 AM. When he arrived he asked where the patient was, I directed him to the Kitchen. Mike noticed the refrigerator is not far from the sink and made the comment "are you sure you want this fixed, the sink has water just steps away". I stated that I called because I want it fixed as it is our drinking filtered water. As he removed the cover on the water/ice dispenser he made the comment "bet you didn't know the drip tray was removal, most people don't know that". I told him that I have removed it previously to drain and clean. Mike found the plastic mount for the switch was broken and stated he needed to check if he could get the part. Again he asked if I wanted it fixed, I replied "YES". He went outside to get information on the replacement part. When Mike returned he stated that he could get the part the next day and he could replace it on Wednesday. I stated that both my wife and I work and would not be home until 2:30 - 3:00 PM. He stated that he only does work in our area in the mornings. Not much for customer service on his part! He gave me the quote for the part and again asked if I wanted it fixed. It appeared that this was an inconvenience to him, but at this point I just wanted it fixed. He called his office to get the part ordered then stated "the job is mostly labor, at that point I was informed that the labor cost was 600% more than the cost of the part. At this point I'm frustrated, the water from the refrigerator is our filtered drinking water and we use it a lot. I decided to pay the high charges and get it done. I told him that I wanted it repaired on Wednesday and that my teenage son would be here. He wanted a number to call and I gave him mine, he complained that he wanted my son's number instead. I explained that he can call me then I would contact my son. He stated that he would call between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, guess this is his hours of service. Mike called on Wednesday before noon and stated he would arrive in about 20 minutes. My son called me about 20 minutes after Mikes arrival to let me know it was done. So a total of about an hour of work from Mike and $$$ spent, the repair was completed. Conclusion: I will never call this repair service again. With his sarcastic and belittling remarks to me I wonder what he would say to a female. He seems as if this is an inconvenience to him. read more

I called All city after hours expecting to leave a message for the next day, Mike answered the phone and took my info and got me in the next day between 12-3 (I called a couple other places before and its 4-5 days) he showed up at 12 sharp...not 3 not 4 like so many others. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This will be the first negative review I've done of a company. Mike was extremely short with me over the phone, and interrupted me multiple times. He hung up before he got my full address or the full description of the problem. When he showed up the next day, he made a comment about my lack of furniture, and then opened the refrigerator door. "Ah you see that frost? That's a gas leak. I can fix it if you want but it'll be about $1100" (this fridge is $900 new) "...and it's not likely to work, you have to do fixes like that in the factory. You need a new refrigerator... welp, that'll be 70 bones." He said picking his toolbox back up. The "70 bones" he was referring to was a "diagnostic fee" for opening the door and seeing frost. I was outraged, this guy was in my house for about 3 minutes. I got robbed. Furthermore, if he would have stopped interrupting me on the phone and listened to the problem, he would have known what he would have seen opening up the door. I ended up calling Frigidaire direct, who contracted out to Service Pro's. The refrigerator was just out of warranty but they fixed it for free due to the nature of the problem and how new the refrigerator was. The Service Pro tech was phenomenal, and couldn't believe my experience with All City Refrigeration (though he was polite and didn't say anything negative). I asked the technician how much it would have been if I had to pay out of pocket, he said about $400. Mike's outrageously priced "diagnosis" wasn't even accurate. CALL SOMEONE ELSE! Mike came out to the house and was very rude and condensing. He told me that I needed to replace the starter on the refrigerator but when I looked up the part online, there is no starter. He also said that if he replacement didn't work, I should replace my frig because it was a problem with the condenser. From the reviews, this seems to be a common statement that he makes. I wonder if he is has some models to sale you? He literally spent 15 min in my house and charged me $315 for a part that doesn't even exist. He didn't show me the part he replaced and the invoice is not legible. My refrigerator is working but from my research, it looks like a cheap temperate sensor was the issue. When we moved into our new house, our ice maker didn't work. After about 5 months, I got sick of buying ice from the grocery store and called both our home warranty and KitchenAid (the make of the fridge) to get some recommendations for refrigerator repair. Between those two companies, I was given 4 names for repair places. I spent about an hour searching and reviewing all four companies on Google. 3 of those companies had a host of terrible reviews, and 2 of them had an F rating from the BB. Only 1 of the companies had mediocre reviews, and an A from the BBB. During my research however, I stumbled upon "The Refrigerator Specialist." I was a little skeptical at first, due to the same name and number popping up on multiple websites, without much other information. Despite this, there seemed to be a host of glowing comments. So, since the first 4 people recommended to me all looked pretty terrible, I took a chance and called this place. Mike (the owner?) answered the phone. I get the feeling this is just one guy running his own refrigerator repair business. Mike comes across a little gruff (think East Coast type of attitude) but got straight to the point. I called late on a Friday afternoon and he was here early Saturday morning. He took a look at my fridge, told me exactly what was wrong with it and what it would cost to fix. He didn't play games. He didn't try to up sell me. He didn't add on any crazy fees. His prices were very reasonable. Once we agreed on the price, he fixed it then and there (he had extra parts in his truck). It was honestly quite refreshing to deal with someone who is prompt, honest, and does quality work. My bottom freezer refrigerator froze up and the top wasn't cooling at all. After 2 days of praying, I called The Refrigerator Specialist. My wife told me last week that her sodas aren't as cold as they normally are. I didn't think much of it until my freshly made gimchee started ripening faster than normal. This Korean dude kicked in to EMERGENCY MODE, rescuing my big jar of gimchee and tossing it a life preserver (I put it in an ice chest). I looked at my options on Yelp. To my horror, pretty much everyone had a 1 star except All City. He had no reviews. After calling around various places and never getting to talk to an actual technician (only dispatch operators). I called Mike back at All City because he's the ONLY one I was able to talk to directly. He was even very honest about how he couldn't give me a quote unless he saw it in person $70. I have to admit, the $70 was about average. Some were $40. But since he was the ONLY ONE I actually talked to in person. I called him back. He showed up within 20 min, told me what the problem was, and the cost. It was fixed in 10 min. He told me my 10 year old Kenmore (Whirlpool) is better than LGs and Samsungs (was hesitant to tell me since I'm Korean), because he said their parts have to be special ordered. It can take 1-2 weeks, which can be a long time if you have food going bad today. He gave me tips on how to keep my two Kenmores in good working order and what to look for to see if something isn't right (like closing the freezer to see if the fridge door opens to check for tight door seal). I was extremely pleased with Mike's service and his expertise. I'm Yelping about him because he deserves it. read more

Two weeks ago i decided to finally call a repair company to learn if the 7+ year old maytag was worth repairing instead of buying a new refrigerator. Bottom freezer constantly filled with a sheet of ice that required an ice pick to remove the large chunks of ice monthly and the fridge would periodically freeze lettuce and other items no matter what the temperature was. During the search for the right repair service, read numerous reviews and made several calls, but found that none of the companies had glowing reviews. This was the only repair service that answered with a human voice named Mike-which was a big plus for me and he said he could come out the same day, which was another big plus for me since i was already home made it very convenient. Mike was very specific with a few instructions to do before he arrived. After he arrived the repairs went like smooth clockwork and fast - although i was not timing the repairs seemed he was in and out in less than an hour. I really appreciated his direct, no nonsense approach to communicate what was causing both problems and he did not try to upsell anything. the 2nd problem required a special order expensive part, which he said i could avoid for the short term if i wanted to because we could try a work around for now. I decided this was a viable solution for the 2nd problem and my pocketbook so he repaired the first problem. The repair cost was fair and reasonable. I am exceptionally pleased that after two weeks have past that there have been no more problems with the refrigerator or freezer. My repairs were successful! And should the workaround for the 2nd problem eventually fail Mike has already educated me what the problem is and the corrective action needed to repair it. Mike will be the guy I will call! This guy is A FRAUD. i called him to fix my fridge, he drives a dark green Jeep with no signs or anything. he does tell you upfront will charge $70 to come out & if he does fix the problem $70 will be waived. then he shows up with a small tool box ( no gages or equipments) and makes up with an excuse that compressor is bad and it's cheaper to get a new fridge, here is a $70 invoice and gone in a flash. i believe he knows nothing about appliances and he makes his money circling around collecting $70 service calls. i say that because after he left my apartment, another repair man that i had called before him showed up with gages and said nothing is wrong with compressor and put freon in and all fixed. Got to my fridge at about noon to find water on my floor. Turns out my freezer was defrosting and the ice in my ice maker had meted. I called a few places, only to be told that I'd have to wait until the following afternoon. I then called All City and talked to Mike. He said he was on a job, but that he'd call me back before he got on the road so he could get my exact address. He'd be there by 2pm. He asked me to empty my freezer, and make sure I didn't turn off the fridge. He showed up right on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as being a burned out main board (he showed me the scorched board). He gave me a price, and told me straight that it was a simple fix. He is very direct and honest, which I appreciate. He was done within 30 minutes total, and my fridge ran great after that. Anyway, we called and gave some information on what the problem was. We called right at 7, he said he would be at my house between 11 to 1. He called a little after 11 to confirm, and was at our house by 11:30. (Sorry, can't remember his name). He was friendly and pretty much knew what the issue was right away. He replaced a part (saw him took it out) and was out of my house within 20 minutes. The repair cost $280. He was honest in the fact that the part was probably only $30 bucks. My 10 year old KitchenAid fridge had stopped cooling so I went online to try to find help. Found All City Refrigeration so I called Thursday night and talked to Mike who scheduled a next day repair.
