If you've been to a laundromat, you know what to expect. C'mon, it's a laundromat. You'll see…read moredifferent-sizes machines, a few having "out of order" signs. Muddy's gets 4 of my stars because they have really nice people & the place is usually quite clean. It's not a really big place & it'll get crowded during peak time. The small plaza's parking lot sucks. Obviously, the building was constructed when the street was half as wide. Park on the side. One wall of dryers. 25¢ in a dryer yields a 10-minute spin. They are hot but the last 2 minutes or so are a "cooling down" (no heat) period. Best to check your stuff when there's 5-6 minutes remaining so if you need more time, you can insert another quarter & skip the useless cooling down. They have one row of top-loader washers and three perhaps four different sized front-loaders. A much better deal when you're stuck doing the family wash, like I was. But it provided a great excuse to get outta attending a birthday party at the in-law's. Minus one star because the underside of the detergent flap had mildew (gotta keep them washer doors open when not in use). I wouldn't have used that machine with mildew if I hadn't already stuffed it full of clothes. Minus another star because the hot water wasn't really hot. I can't imagine how a laundromat could maintain hot water without a boiler the size of the USS Augusta. It wouldn't matter anyway, as every machine sold in the US since Clinton was eyeing the female interns in The White House has had to obey gubmint energy regulations so we could enjoy a life free of energy and climate concerns. Add a star for having clean counters & very nice staff.

Also, there were no "chemical" smell that happens when going to the cleaners. They were bagged separately allowing me to store them in each room for the next season. Thank you for your professional service. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because my cellphone number was now entered correctly so I did not get a text when they were ready. I called a couple days after drop off to see if they were done and the young lady said they had been done the day I'd dropped them off. We got the number corrected in the system, so when I come back there won't be a delay in me picking my items up.

Clothes tables and 1 washing sink. The Cons: 1. Washing machines are a bit pricey. $9 charged to my pay card to use the 7 loads capacity washing machine. To make the most of this I was able to fit all of my clothes. 2. To wash separate clothes I used a smaller machine that still charged an extra $6.09 to the card. It adds up quick. 3. The dryers I used only went up to 10 minutes at a time . The first drying cycle was not enough to dry my clothes. 4. The holes inside the dryer are a bit large. One of the metal tips to one of my drawstrings got caught and damaged when pulling the clothes out of the dryer. 5. The pay card screen to load your card is a bit old so it's tricky to get the reader to read your card. It will take a few tries. Over all decent experience. The place is kind of small with limited waiting hairs.

It's major competition is farther to the west, Davis Imperial (which is excellent for a much higher price). Although I never asked, the young man and older women manning the counter seem to be of the same family. And they are both friendly and cordial. I read on this page complaints about price, particularly for alterations. I disagree that Biltmore's is higher than the norm. And you usually choose a cleaner based on its convenience for you. One thing to understand about the prices, since Biltmore has its own plant on the premises, its dry cleaning prices reflect what it wants to pay its staff and keep the good ones from jumping ship. There is not much mark-up possible on the dry cleaning prices, so the hand labor of alterations is where they tend to make their profits. If it's convenience you are after, have Biltmore make those alterations. If, on the other hand, the work might be more exacting, there is a great tailor just across the street (see my review for "Ji's Tailor"). The only plausible option on this page for the parking at Biltmore is "Street," but the actual situation is better than that: there is a 2-car reserved space at the sidewalk outside of Biltmore. You can park there free for 15 minutes by leaving your emergency flashers on. So you can ignore the Daley/Emanuel meter system, if you are quick about it.

The person who took the initial order seemed at a loss and also had some challenges with English. He also kept asking if I also wanted to have the dresses dry cleaned which I did not as they are washable and were clean. When I went to pick up the second person immediately wanted the hangers back as I hadn't gotten the dresses dry cleaned. When I noted that I would have brought a bag to take the dresses home if I had known they would 't stay on the hangers he finally backed off. He then made a big push for a positive google review which left a bad taste in my mouth. Again, I would stress the actual work of altering the dresses was done well. They just need to work a bit on their customer service.
