Never ever ever ever ever use All Custom Woodworks. The owner is a 100% crook. I can't believe he asked me to review them on Houzz, does he not remember messing up the designs, agreeing to things that he didn't remember agreeing to, charging me to fix things that were his mistakes, threatening to throw my cabinets in the "ocean" multiple times, making me pay upfront before we even finalized the designs, doing the worst paint job of all time, claiming he doesn't use crappy materials but actually using low quality materials, holding our things hostage and making us pay extra for things that were in the contract, claiming he makes everything in shop but then actually buying the doors elsewhere, having almost nothing done upon the inspection he told us to come for and then claiming we signed off on it (how could we sign off when 50% wasn't even painted or done yet?!) oh and by the way this happened twice because the first time the quality was so bad after getting it we had to send it back.... Okay I know I'm ranting here, but going through ACW and Troy was by far the worst decision I think I have ever made in my life. I highly recommend that you head my warning. We read a few bad reviews but they all looked like it was about construction and thought the cabinets would be good... turns out nope, cabinets through him are the worst experience ever! I promise that Troy will try and respond to this review and say we did this or we did that, I promise you everything he says is a lie! He lies and lies and lies! I literally have text messages from him threatening me and the cabinets. We have multiple emails proving we sent him a specific design for a hood cover, he built the wrong one, then made us pay to build the one we had originally sent. We literally sent him an email with proof and he said that he doesn't accept it, but how Troy how!? I'm telling you these ARE NOT QUALITY! The corners on all the doors are crap, not crisp. The paint job also horrible! I mean I'm telling you it scratches so easily and also came scratched all over. Troy works 4 days a week which means he doesn't answer anything on Friday through Sunday. His helper Doreen is sweet, but Troy literally introduces us to her and says work with her, but then nothing makes its way to Troy, either that or he ignores it or is so unorganized he doesn't even know. One time he said "Nothing written here is viable" Do our cabinets look good in our house now, yes, but no thanks to Troy! Oh I forgot, we talked to him 4 times specifically about a spice rack exactly where it should go in our cabinets. We thought he would forget so we had him write it in just above it. Then when we saw the cabinets it was missing the spice rack. Turns out he forgot what him writing it there meant and so he built some random spice rack to go above where we wanted it instead of actually where we wanted it. Yep, you guessed it, in order to get it right he charges us even more. We 100% plan on taking Troy to small claims court. Our cabinets are under a lifetime warranty with him and yep of course its in writing, but I know for a fact he will never honor it. We also would have to remove the cabinet and bring them to him (how the F do we do that), so I don't mind telling the truth about his fraud, because its exactly that, fraud. I'm sorry if his kids read this and get angry I'm talking this way about their dad, but maybe this will be a wake up call to him, you cannot act like a psycho bully! This guy has bad karma coming so I'll leave it there, but if you have any sense you will stay away from Troy. Again, Troy feel free to say whatever you want in response to this, but we know the truth and that truth is you are a fraud, a bully, a jerk, and a crap cabinet maker! Side note, we consulted with a lawyer and he 100% agreed everything Troy did was unethical and we have a good chance to win in court, however it would cost us money up front and we just wanted to forget troy ever existed. So I plan on going through small claims. If anyone is even thinking of using Troy message me directly and I can give you more hard examples! read more

All Custom Woodworks (ACW) does do beautiful cabinetry. The reason for my low rating is the experience I had getting there. I had three bathrooms remodeled. I drew up detailed drawings of the cabinets I wanted. But I didn't want anyone to rely on my drawings. I assume Troy would come out and do his own measuring. He was here 15 minutes for the measuring three bathroom. Two of the bathrooms he only glanced at and took no measurements. When their actual drawings were submitted to me for approval, I found multiple mistakes which required numerous phone calls and emails. NEVER did Troy return any my calls or my contractor's calls. Most of the time when we actually got through to him, Troy was curt and unprofessional. One time he actually hung up on me! One of the drawings I got back from Troy actually had asymmetrical sinks. That is one cabinet was significantly wider than the other. I had ACW installed the cabinets in one particular bathroom because of the problems we had with the drawings. My contractor did not want to have to deal with it if the cabinets did not fit perfectly. Troy charged me $1,200 for the installation, saying he would need to send out two guys at $600/man because it would take all day for them to do the work. It took them three hours and I was charged the full $1,200. Would I use ACW again? Would I recommend them? Absolutely not on both counts. read more

Sadly, this is completely true. I called the police and actually got part on video. Five cruisers arrived as I maintained a distance. I researched the business and owner after the attack. There were several instanced reported where the owner held client's projects hostage for more money after the contract amount was paid. We paid in advance and he never delivered. Look on CSLB and you sill see several occasions when the owner tried to cheat people out of their money. The CSLB gives contractors every chance to resolve issues before making a permanent memorialization on the site. See for yourself. If it is no longer there after this recent crime, perhaps some re-jiggering has been done to cloud the previous transgressions. In this case the current owner is only a "partial" owner, and the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. (I.e., they're still in it together.) read more

All Custom Woodworks is remodeling our kitchen, painting and laying new floors. We are only on week 2 and the kitchen is nearly complete (waiting for the countertops, but that needed to be ordered from another company) the cabinets are beautiful! Everything installed perfectly. There was a retexturing issue on one wall that looked a little wonky after it was done, but the staff knew it right away and it's being redone-I didn't even have to ask. I am picky about feeling comfortable with workers in my house, but with Tyler, Tito, Luke and Tony coming in and out, I am very comfortable. I have a million questions and everyone is knowledgeable and answers them patiently. Doreen in the office is a great resource too! I can't wait to see the finished product. It's been 3 weeks since All Custom Woodworks finishes our kitchen and floors. All in 5 weeks total. It's beautiful. All works well. I'm very pleased with the results. The remodel was stressful for me at times just because I've never done this before. But 5 weeks seems like some kind of a record!! First off, we were never pleased with the final kitchen remodel! No term "beyond beautiful" was ever used by my wife or myself. The court found you (ACW) guilty of over-charging and double-charging. The judge ruled in our favor. There was never any judgment in your favor. Troy was able to talk his way out of a single item on the list (earthquake valve). This resulted in not even close to splitting the requested judgment. We also tried to settle out of court. Troy never showed up to either meeting! Doreen, the secretary, was confrontational, accusatory, and very rude, and made numerous mistakes with accounting! We replaced the kitchen floor, because you stated the person that was originally going to refinish the hardwood on our existing floor could no longer do the job and you left it in our laps to find someone at the last minute. I still have two and 1/2 boxes of extra material I paid you for which wasn't used. The counter tops are not 'custom countertops'. They are quartz counter tops that we purchased from All Natural Stone with a simple pencil edge! You stated that there were delays in appliances. We had sent all appliance specs to ACW prior to them constructing the cabinets. You are well aware that the new appliances were sitting in our garage long before you even began the remodel process. We NEVER had any changes in appliances! We were shown a one-dimensional view of our kitchen and had assumed that the cabinet that houses the microwave was the same depth as the other upper cabinets. When we went to purchase the appliances we were told that this microwave would protrude out from the other cabinets. We brought this to Troy's attention. You then showed us a three dimensional view that validated what Friedman's Appliance told us. We agreed that we would split the price with you to redo the cabinets. When the cabinets were to be installed, the sub-contractors noticed that these cabinets were off by 5 inches. They were thrown out and had to be remade (which caused further delays). We asked to be reimbursed by Troy, but you refused. Your subcontractors were never at our house at 8am every morning. The earliest they showed up was 9:30 and they would leave at 4:20. We never knew when they were going to be at our house. We would sometimes be told that they were going to be here, and then not show up because you would send them to another job. Also, you are closed on Friday. We didn't sign off on the job stating that we were pleased with the end result. We asked that the doors to the cabinets that had the visible nail marks, and the cabinets that had paint already chipping be brought back to the shop to be sanded, repainted and stained. The cabinet painter advised that it would be very difficult to match the colors, and because of the cheap way that Troy paints the cabinets, the doors again would contain the nail hole marks. We said to fix them as best as he could and that we would just have to live with it. ACW mis-measured on many things in our kitchen (area of cabinets by support beam, center island, refrigerator cabinet, vent-a-hood, microwave, wine cabinet, doors above refrigerator, one wall off by 5 inches caused entire wall of cabinets to be remade). YOU made this complicated causing the delays, not us! The wine cabinet area was reconstructed because ACW mis-measured the entire wall by 5 inches. When these cabinets were finally ready to be installed, the wine cabinet was off by 3 inches from the ceiling and had to be 'jury-rigged'. The additional paint and stain do not match the rest of the cabinets. The microwave opening was cut too big. This area also had to be 'jury-rigged' to make the microwave fit properly. Now, we contact you because we have a screw coming through one of our cabinets. You originally stated "no". You stated that we caused trauma to the cabinet. This screw coming out was not caused by us; it was caused from the installation when you attached the two cabinets. The screw was not placed far enough back and is now coming through the front of the cabinet. We threatened to take you to court again. You then said that you would 'try' to fix the problem, but this came with a list of unacceptable conditions. You NEVER went above and beyond. You were consistently rude and argumentative. There were multiple delays that were caused by YOU. This entire kitchen remodel was a comedy of errors. There were additional add-ons because YOU didn't include them in the original contract and low-balled us on the original estimate. The 'add-ons' such as the earthquake valve, should have been included in the original contract as suggested by the judge in small claims court. As you can see, based upon our experience, All Custom Woodworks is not worth your time, money, problems, or headaches. We have filed a claim with the State Contractors Licensing Board. All Custom Woodworks has two citations against their company already. There are many negative reviews on Yelp, some similar to ours. read more

On 3/18/12, Troy sent me another message stating: Feelings "I am really sorry you feel the way you do. I hope your cabinet is serving its purpose for you without any problems." Troy if you had just said something like, "I am sorry you had such a bad experience with ACW. You deserved better customer service than what you received," it might have helped a little. Instead, you shifted the "blame" to me for my "feelings." You have yet to accept responsibility for your words, actions and lack of customer service. All Custom Woodworks was a huge disappointment!!! Troy senior seemed experienced and trustworthy when he came out to bid for some built-in bookshelves and closet redo. He seemed eager to have the work and the price was pretty good - but by no means cheap. He had many ideas and sold us with his pictures and promises. All promises he did not keep. Apparently after taking our first deposit (not a small sum) he got more work and put us way down on the list. He kept putting us off - I should say me - because only after my husband started making the calls did we ever get any action. After two trips to his office to work on the plan and paying each time another hefty chuck (boy did I learn some hard lessons) he then lost the plan and had to come out and remeasure. FINALLY when the day came to install, it is Troy Jr. who arrives and we find out HE built the unit and would install it. I don't know what kind of information was even passed on to him or if he ever saw any of the original plans (if they were ever really remade) because some of it was quite different - and not at all what was promised. The closet and it's disappointments are too numerous and frustrating to explain. The bookshelves were 6 inches shorter than the height of the wall and we insisted they remake them (he said the computer accidentally defaulted to 90inches instead of the 96inch wall in that room). So we waited another week for that redo (BTW - the workweek for All Custom Cabinets is mon thru thurs. and if they have to work on memorial day because they screwed up, the complain about it!) My mistake was putting too much down before the installation. And when they came to finally finish, it was a slipshod job. Even tho' Troy Jr. did apologize for the extra time it took - it didn't mean too much. They wouldn't even caulk between the cabinets and the wall. They didn't float out the ceiling in the closet after removing the popcorn - there's so much more, but this is too long as it is. In the end, we just wanted them gone. All Custom Woodwork's (ACW) and Cabinets is, by far, the best contractor that I've ever hired. I have dealt with a lot of different contractors over the years and it has always been a bad experience (poor workmanship, not showing up as planned, cost overruns, etc.). We hired ACW to reface our kitchen cabinets, install canned lighting, counter tops and back splash. They also replaced an old vanity in our master bedroom. The quality of their refaced cabinets was top notch. They do not use veneer, but instead, they remove the entire cabinet frames and replace them with new frames. We went with white shaker cabinets and drawers with brushed nickel handles. The cabinets were painted beautifully and they installed quiet-close cabinet doors and drawers. Our kitchen looks amazing. They kept us informed every step of the way and were always on time. Their workers were polite and professional and always took their time to do an outstanding job instead of rushing to get done. Their prices are very competitive and they work with you to purchase the appropriate materials including offering you their contractors discounts at various material outlets. The work went very well, as planned, and his crew were professional and very pleasant. Electrical work was done all throughout the kitchen, and all appliances taken care of. Here's the situation with this company. When it comes to woodwork and cabinetry I would give them 5 stars. Pricing was 5 stars. Time frame/deadlines and overall customer service thats the part that I feel really needs to become better. The owner knows cabinetry theres, no doubt about that. We put granite in our kitchen and redid the bathrooms 10 years ago but did not do anything with the cabinets at that time. Now, we were faced with wanting to update our cabinets but not wanting to take out the granite. We talked to several different contractors about everything from "restaining" to "refacing". None of the options were acceptable to us. Troy spent quite a bit of time with us, asking what we wanted, giving us options and making sure we thoroughly understood his process. He would replace our Oak with Cherrywood, making new drawers and cabinet doors not only for our kitchen but for the three bathrooms and hallway linen closet. We felt so confident with our conversation, that we ended up contracting with him to replace all the Oak within our house to the Cherrywood, replace all the Oak baseboard in the house to Whie baseboards, replace the doors and change 2 closet doors to mirrored sliding doors. We are estatic with the outcome! Everything was cut and hand-stained according to our plans. The workers are meticulous, professional, considerate and they are careful to clean up after themselves. The house has not only lost the "80's look" and has a new and modern look, but the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations. Not only would we use ACW again, we will definitely refer anyone we know to them with confidence. read more

I called and spoke briefly with Troy about a kitchen renovation. He told me that he would need to come out to give me an initial quote. We scheduled for the next day between 1 and 3. I took a half day off from work and waited but Troy never showed up or called. When I called him at 4pm, he had no idea that he had even missed our meeting. After giving him my name and information, he admitted that he did not write the meeting down in his appointment book but asked me what he could do. I told him how unacceptable it was for him to just not show up to a meeting that I had taken the time off of work to attend. He then apologized by saying, "I am sorry I am not as perfect as you." I would never do business with Troy. He spoke to me in such a condescending tone and showed no remorse for his poor business management. Addition on 7/29 at 6pm Troy called me this evening to sarcastically thank me for posting this review on Yelp. We remodeled two bathrooms in 2010 and this company built the cabinets. They are GORGEOUS. The workmanship is superb. Last month, we broke one of the drawers--totally our fault. My husband took it in and Troy, the owner, repaired it on the spot. He wouldn't take any payment, saying their work is guaranteed for as long as you own the product. We highly recommend this company. They really took the time to give us their educated advice about all the little details I wouldn't have even thought about, even went it meant our cost going down. I will say it was a long process, but honestly we were not punching to get anything done quickly (because of other projects going on in the house, floors & bathroom remodel) so that really isn't their fault, besides you want this done right! Also, they were so patient with us picking the cabinet color. I am very picky about color, it has to be just right, they were very accommodating to this. I could not be more satisfied with the craftsmanship of our cabinetry from All Custom Woodworks (ACW). ACW's work is excellent! This is our third time working with Troy the owner. We have hired ACW for our Master Bathroom Vanity and large walk in Closet, guest bath, and hallway linen cabinet. They also did a perfect paint match to our existing crown molding and trim in our house to the white cabinets we had made. He was a little late in finishing the job but most craftsman and contractors are! Something about Troy, I had to make changes after signing off on cabinet design, (changed drawer size) and he did not charge me extra. Troy has worked well with us. The vanity ACW built was acceptable. Their service following completion was a horror show. It took five separate deliveries to finally receive everything we had ordered. During the course of one delivery, their crew damaged a decorative brick wall. Of course, they denied any responsibility. Some of the work we paid for was never completed. Towards the end, when I emailed Troy that I was now demanding receipt of the four custom door handles, that we'd already paid for but had yet to be delivered, he replied, "have a nice day." It goes on and on but as a retired business executive, I've never witnessed such complete incompetence. Work with them at your own peril. read more

It has been a year since ACW finished working on my kitchen. I am still upset and regretful about my ever having contracted with the company to redo my kitchen, but I have calmed down enough to give a very brief review of their work. It was determined that the kitchen needed a new sub-floor after the tile was removed. My suggestion to look at the existing sub-floor from the large crawl space below prior to removing the existing one was ignored. The owners verbal estimate (my bad) to replace the 150SqFt sub-floor was $2,500-4,000. Mid January the floor was removed, leaving nothing but a hole on the kitchen and nighttime temperatures in the low 30's. It was then that I was advised the replacement sub-floor would cost $6,000. I had no alternatives. I was assured the completed sub-floor would be finished to perfection for the wood floor, and require no further work. The expert floor installer who had done beautiful work on our home before needed to do an additional $1,500 preparation work on the sub-floor before he could install the white oak planks. So, we spent $7,500 for a sub-floor. Included in the contract were electrical work, plumbing, sheet rock work and the installation of lighting inside the cabinets with glass fronts and underneath the cabinets on the wall. After having worked with the owner for months trying to get the remodel finished, I was able to determine the quality of work I was to be left with, and I wisely advised him that he would not be doing any of it. Having the cabinets and paneling completed in a professional was another nightmare. And, it still doesn't look very professional. I will say that the refacing done on the original cabinets is good. That's all I can say. Anyone who contracts with the company for work to be done had better cover all the details in writing, to include all materials and dimensions, and not make any changes. If there are changes in anything they should also be detailed and include a price. Getting money back for work not performed or done poorly will probably not be forthcoming. Lastly, take plenty of pictures before, during and after, of all phases of the work. I have hundreds ! read more

Unlike the reviewers here, I used ACW for a custom furniture project, providing drawings, measurements and even a working model. The result? Troy and I just may go into the manufacturing business--a great idea had I not modified my design from one already existing! The project turned out great and I could not be happier! I guess negative reviews are more common due to the fact that people like to complain more than praise. My experience is a positive story. I needed to have new cabinets made for a pantry being constructed adjacent to my kitchen. The room has a sloping ceiling, and the cabinetry needed to be built custom to fit in the limited space. We had a design in mind, and passed the "napkin sketch" on to AC Woodworks to get a quote. Our desire was to match our kitchen cabinets which are about 20 years old. Nearly all of the cabinet shops we contacted would only do cabinet doors selected from a catalog. And ours were not there. ACW was able to construct the cabinets exactly as we wanted them, and did a nearly perfect match of the existing. The cabinetry came out beautifully, the construction sound and very clean. Hardware is top quality, with features I wish were in our old cabinets. Installation went like a breeze, the crew had the job finished in a day and a half. In my opinion, ACW provided a quality product, in a reasonable time frame, and most of all for a very attractive price. There are shops who charge a lot more for their work, but our budget did not allow for this. ACW made our pantry happen completely to our expectations, and we are very pleased with the job. Can I give this company a lower rating than 1 star. Our kitchen went from a 4 week job to over 2 months. Many excuses sometimes not even showing up. I will never get over this experience. When the sink was going to be installed it was a bathroom sink. I have at least 20 pages of notes on excuses from Troy. I waited a couple of years to post this, because it was so hard on us to get over the whole ordeal. read more

I had some custom cabinets made from my house and the whole experience was amazing. Everyone was so friendly, they were very clean, no mess just loved it. Definitely would strongly recommend them for anyone who wants quality home improvements. read more

As stated in our review of All Custom Woodworks (dated 3/4/16), following a terrible experience when this company was hired to redo the cabinets in our two bathrooms, we filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. In mid-June, we were advised by the Board that they found cause and All Custom Woodworks would, indeed be cited. The company was given until 7/13/16 to contest these citations. To the best of our knowledge, there was no contest and the citation became final on 7/13/16. The violations listed were: 1- no written change orders; 2-no description of project, materials or equipment to be used; 3-no date as to beginning of work and; 4-contractor requested and received more money than work performed or material delivered. Again, to the best of our knowledge, a civil penalty was assessed and payment due by July 13, 2016. read more

Recently we had a kitchen re-face done with All Custom Woodworks. Now that it is finished....it looks like a Brand New Kitchen...not just a re-face. What beautiful cherry wood cabinets they built for us. What a difference in these and 1983 cabinets with NO storage at all. Without making the kitchen bigger....I have 3 times the storage due to roll outs, big drawers that hold 100 lbs. and slide outs....we have increased our storage by 3 fold. I cannot believe the difference and the quality of construction. My friends are amazed and so was our Realtor. She estimated the price of our job at twice what it cost us. Yes....it looks THAT GOOD. I added glass to the new cab- inets.....Troy had a LOT of samples. I am so happy with our choice of glass which partially covers what is inside - but makes the room so light and bigger at the same time. Everyone that comes here....thinks our kitchen looks bigger. Same space!!! The woodworking crew was terrific and helpful and careful. All very talented men. If you want to spend a LOT of money for a mediocre job....do it. If you want to spend the amount of money it takes to re-face your kitchen in a BIG WAY.....call Troy at All Custom Woodworks. We are so happy that we did. Luke, Daniel and Mike are really skilled woodworkers. The malt brown stain is beautiful on our cherry wood doors. They gave me a sample of a door with our wood and our stain first. WOW!!!! These guys ripped me off on a project as well as my mom and dad. Dishonest is all I can say.

I used all custom woodworks to build a kitchen for a house i was remodeling. i was under a time frame and from troy coming in and measuring and giving him the plans from the remodel job. he finish the cabinets 2 weeks ahead of schedule. when i was ready for the install his crew came in and installed the cabinets in time and ready for the plumber to come in and install the water and drain lines. when the kitchen was com pleated it was beautiful, a showplace the cost of the cabinets was about 13,000 dollars and other quotes were between 18-22,000 dollars the quality of the maple cabinets were superb and the pull out draws and custom bar type counter with drawers was fabulous. ever thing fit perfect. i recommend this company to anyone they do great work despite a couple of other reviews i see in yelp. read more
