The best! I've been coming here since 2015. Not only is it a super convenient location for me that pleasantly reminds me of the Tupac song of the same name, you couldn't find a more caring, charming, and thorough optician than Dr. Thornton. His ability to remember little personal details as well as medical/eye history details over the past 9 years is astonishing and shows that he really cares about his patients. He's fast and efficient but will take extra time to show me lens options ("take a few moments for your eye to adjust....ok: one....or two?"). While I know I could probably buy my contact lenses cheaper online--and the doctor was kind and honest by telling me so--I still order through them for the support and convenience. The receptionists have been there for a long time and are always very cheery and pleasant to work with (scheduling appointments, billing, etc.), which is important too. Highly recommended! I want to add that I first found this place when I didn't have eye insurance and his exam prices were very reasonable! Also, when I was having eye issues in 2020 due to Covid, Dr. T was available and easy to reach by phone and email to help me. Can't say enough good things about this practice. Dr Aaron is extremely skilled and professional, whilst being kind and friendly. He has partnered with me to find the optimal corrective solution for my needs and I actually really enjoy my sessions with him. We're trying different combinations of contact lens (bifocal and fixed) so I can see what works best amongst all the options. Dr Aaron really wants to make sure I am happy with the solution. He was very engaging during my appointment & made sure that everything was clean, safe, & comfortable. Each station was sanitized prior to its use & there are precautions in place to ensure that everything is COVID safe. I didn't feel super comfortable with the doctor, kind of invasive past the point of lifestyle questions that influence your eye health. To be honest, he's a bit creepy. The team at All Eyes on Me is the best. I grew up in the neighborhood and was back to help my folks with some appointments and turns out my dad was having trouble with his prescription. He has glasses through both Kaiser, since he's on my moms insurance, and has his own insurance so I took him to All Eyes on Me as well. There is no comparison...the experience at All Eyes on Me was 1,000x better. First of all Dr Thornton and Helen were able to find time even though they were all booked up. They knew I was only there for a short time and I was driving my father around. Second, Dr Thornton was incredibly patient and understanding and made my dad feel relaxed during the appt. Helen took care of all the paperwork and was extremely helpful and accommodating. They're taking care of everything. AWESOME! I know I wasn't going to say anything bad about the other experience but this is in direct contrast to the doctor at Kaiser who had no patience and was getting irritated with my father and their receptionist who didn't even look up at us when we were checking in. I've been coming here for many years...dare I say a decade...maybe longer. Dr.Thornton and his staff are the best. It's a small office and they are great with scheduling. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor, and he is very thorough and I never feel rushed. He's very personable and makes you feel comfortable immediately. When I first started wearing contacts I was not comfortable with them. I had an optometrist prior to this one who would just reach in to my eyes and take them in and out, which was very uncomfortable. Dr. Thornton always asks if I want to take them out myself or if I want him to do so. He explains all the tests beforehand so you're not worried if a test will hurt. He has had me try different contact brands and types to make sure I have the best fit. They have a nice selection of glasses, and I was impressed by the selection I had that was completely covered by my (basic) plan. When ordering contacts, they are usually available to pick up within a week. I just had an appointment during COVID and was happy with all the precautions they take. I like that it's a small office and they only schedule one patient at a time so you'll be the only one in the waiting room. This was my first visit to All Eyes On Me. I had such a great experience. Helen and Sameerah helped me find the perfect pair of glasses. Helen pulled at least 25 pairs of glasses down for me to try on. I apologized for doing that, as I knew, that they had to disinfect every pair that I touched. I was a patient for about 10 years because I live in the neighborhood. I overlooked the dirty, disorganized office and hot waiting room. I finally gave up when they neglected to perform a glaucoma pressure test during my annual exam for the second year in a row. it also took nearly a month to receive my sample contacts. Brought my daughter here and she's on my vsp insurance plan and she picked a nice pair of ray ban clubmasters. With my insurance coverage it costed me zero dollars. Ironically I had taken the day off to fly up from LA to take my mom to her Dr. Appt. I woke up with a right eye, swollen and closed shut with crustiness. I had these symptoms before and pretty much knew what it was and needed a prescription. I knew this place was still in business after 34 years of growing up the street from the Dimond District. I had never been there, but it was convenient as I was boarding a plane back the same day. After I took my mom to her appt, which she is in better shape than me, we head over here. I walked in and asked if they had same day appts and if there were any available. The lovely receptionist was kind enough to check my insurance to see if I was covered for this type of exam. My crappy VSP didn't cover it, but the office visit wasn't bad. $40. I hadn't even complete the necessary paperwork when Dr. Thornton called me in, less than 5 mins of walking in the door. Very sharp and perceptive. After asking why I was there, recognized that I had something else going on. I was actually suffering from fantastic cold. He asked questions and was chatty as well; confirmed my suspicions of my eye condition. He wanted to knock this thing out before it got out of hand and also because he knew I was boarding a plane. He asked if I had insurance because the prescription he wanted to give me was name brand and didn't want to take a chance with generic, but he gave me fair warning that it would be expensive. He wrote out a schedule for me for the week how take the drops. And said if there any issues to call him, even if I get home and see my ophthalmologist. I'm trying to move back to the Bay and if I do, I think I have already found my eye doc. Turns out the receptionist and I went to high school together so we spent a few minutes chatting. So I started wearing glasses in the 10th grade, horrible right???? But Dr. Thornton and his lovely ladies made it a pleasurable experience. However once I graduated college and started working in the city it wasn't the most convenient thing to do, go see Dr. Thornton. So I ventured off to Len Crafters in the FiDi in Sf and was greatly disappointed. I left there with a terrible pair of frames and an even worst prescription. Needless to say I returned them thanks to their 90 day guarantee but I had already burned through my insurance for the exam. You would think I learned my lesson but I tried again in FiDi and ended up with a pounding head ache, blurry vision and ridiculously expensive frames. Luckily I landed a new job on the other side of the bay and will be returning to my old neighborhood gem Dr. Thornton. 3 things I know All Eyes On Me will give me: an inexpensive visit, friendly-caring staff and most importantly my sight! The receptionist at this office is professional and hospitable, she does a great job in answering patient's questions about billing and scheduling, and even goes out of her way to help patients register and fill out paperwork with ease. I've had some poor experiences with optometrists in the past, but with Dr.Thornton I feel completely comfortable in allowing him to exam my eyes, as well as my son's. He is the true definition of professionalism with his practices, he explains in full detail everything that he will be doing and he is one of the few eye doctors around that opts out from using the terrifying air puff on your eyes. read more
