They dropped off a few samples along with an explanation sheet explaining the benefits of each. I was rather surprised by the price which I consider to be more than fair. Lucas answered while on an existing job. He was very honest saying he can't drop by to make an assessment. Knowing the importance of the situation, he said he'll have his father drop by to take a look. The father (was it Joe?) came by as promised and saw that the previous roofer didn't put flashing around a portion of the chimney. He gave a couple of possible fixes and I picked the more expensive one. He gave me a break on price if i went with the more expensive fix which i appreciated. Before showing up for the work due to budgeting issues i changed to the lower price solution. He didn't have any problems with this change. He and his other son (not Lucas) came on the day as promised. The funny thing was I didn't know they were there until i heard banging outside! They ripped some of the old roof tiles, installed new flashing and overlay them with some leftover tiles I had laying around. They also caulked around other parts of the chimney. They cleaned up their mess. There were aome storms afterwards and no leak! Thx to Lucas for knowing the importance of the problem and having your father and brother fit me into their schedule. And thx to father and son (was it Joe and Ezekiel?!) for fixing the leak! I would definitely consider them to put in a new roof when the time comes!

A1 Gutter and Roofing in Garfield, NJ is no exception. So too have we heard and, perhaps, experienced some dishonesty among this lot. So it is significant when one discovers a contractor who is legit, trustworthy, and highly professional. Having to replace an entire roof including structural repairs of its wooden beams, new insulation, and re-bricking of the upper portion of the chimney was a major undertaking. Quote was emailed and signed electronically after questions promptly answered by phone. Was told skylights (2) might take a week or two to arrive. 10 days later got a call that they were in and said they could install next day if that worked for me. On job day, I was concerned when they discovered rotten plywood, thinking this is where the price skyrockets, but it went up only $225 to replace the sheet, which I thought very fair knowing it added a couple of hours to the job. They started at 8am and after extensive cleanup were gone by 3pm. Project Mgr stopped in several time during that day, and helped us connect the solar power shades and remotes to our home WIFI network. The crew were respectful all day. Overall extremely pleased with the solar powered shades/skylights and vendor. Would definitely recommend both to anyone in the future. If one regret. We deciding on light filtering shades and wish we had decided on room darkening instead. One last comment. A week after the job complete I went up to the roof for my annual gutter cleaning. I was shocked to find this gutter was completely cleaned out by the crew during the job! Who does that? And they didn't even tell me to try to score bonus points with me - they just did it because it needed to be cleaned and they had handy access to do so!
