I'm glad I listened to my intuition because when I looked up, I saw a sign.. literally. In red and white letters it read "NY Music Garage" and below it a window decal which exclaimed "A Different Kind of Music Store." As soon as I walked in it was clear that those words were true. I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. I had initially planned to just scope out their collection and perhaps jam, while getting to know the store, but with so many affordable goodies around, I just had to shop. The awesome fellas there helped me pick up a perfectly fitting guitar slide, a strap lock and even a homemade guitar-shaped cutting board!! It's made of walnut, shaped like a Les Paul and sealed in food-grade sealant... how cool is that?! They even had two other variations, a tele and and a strat. After all that shopping, I was ready to try some guitars. They kindly guided me to a private practice room, which had plenty of space to move around, several fun amps and phenomenal acoustics. Looking around the store, it was clear they carried an awesome collection of new, used and vintage axes... all at fair & reasonable prices too! This place is not like it used to be since they changed owners. I'm very disappointed with how I've been treated. I'm just very appalled that the owner treats his customers this way. The owner wouldn't let me rebook my time since I was unable to cancel within the 48 hour period. I was willing to rebook for any day, but he wouldn't budge. So I was charged 84 dollars and didn't recieve any service. I was going there every week for the past month, and tried to rebook any day for next week. He refused... He talked down to me, belittled me over the phone and took 84 dollars for no service. He was inflexible and lost my business permanently. I've been coming here consistently for many years, this happens to be the first time i had to cancel. I was willing to reschedule any day within the week, but he was unwilling to work with me. Each week he greets us and sets up the mics and sound in of his 4 studios. The place is fantastic. The sound doesn't leak out from one studio to the next. It is a great vibe as many musicians in Long Island rehearse here. The studios are well equipped with stools, mics, drum sets, keyboard stands, amps and a digital equalizer for the vocals. There have been times when I have forgotten a chord or power supply and Mike has gone out of his way to help me and literally "save the day"! I have to say the place is perfect for our needs and many of the working musical stage groups of Long Island. Congrats to Mike and his professional staff for a well run operation!!

I've also never enjoyed the recording process more than at MEI Studio. Conveniently located just blocks from the Westbury stop on the LIRR Engineer Anthony makes you feel comfortable and at ease and is truly interested in helping you complete your project and will work hard until you get the best possible product.
