My cat had an injured tail and my good friend highly recommended Dr Pease so I thought I would give him a try. When we went into the exam room, the doctor brought his two big dogs in the room too, " to comfort " my cat. But it freaked him out instead. So Dr Pease said he would give my cat a sedative to help calm him down. Dr Pease finished a complete exam and exclaimed that his weight was smaller than he thought when he administered the sedative. He said my cat would wake up after a few hours and to let him sleep in his carrier. My cat never woke up. I informed the vet. They expressed no concern or remorse. They charged me a few hundred dollars for this! As if this wasn't bad enough. The following year the office sent me a reminder card to schedule an appointment for my cats annual check up! I had to call them to remind them that they had murdered my cat the prior year! After that they sent a condolence card. This vet is so totally out of touch. He should not be in practice. read more

This vet is not our regular vet, but was on call for after hours.. husband took our dog in with a lump on her side that seemed to get huge over night.. he called back and sounded irritated, he answered with "what's the problem" like we were a bother.. we took her in and he looked at the lump, felt it and said "she needs to go to your regular dr, she won't die and it doesn't look like cancer... here's the bill" $209.00 that's it!! No meds, no nothing... During the exam, my husband brought up that we just took our other dog to the vet for allergies, and told him what our vet put him on. He mentioned that the medicine wasn't good, and there is a really good drug, but it cost $600.00, my husband was like that's expensive, his reply was "you don't love your dog" WTH!!! I really appreciate Dr. Pease. His office in town is set up in a way that he helps one animal at a time. Terrific for animals who get anxious at vet offices. Other veterinary offices don't even begin to compare in this way. Right from when you walk in the door, your animal is with the Dr. and only the Dr. the entire time. He's been doing this work a long time, and it shows. He is compassionate in his work with all animals, and even when animals (like my dog) are less than pleased to be there, he is kind and gentle with them. I also really appreciate Dr Pease's straightforward nature. I'm an adult, and I don't need other adults to sugarcoat bad news, or find nice, sweet, "the customer is always right" ways of saying no to my requests. The guy's trying to run a business, and I understand that my dog is his patient, not me. He doesn't owe me a scratch behind the ears when I'm being good, or a consoling pat on the head when things are hard. He owes that to my dog, and he gives it freely. My dog is a collosal pain in the butt at the vet, and Pease takes on the challenge with grace and professionalism. I can't say the same for many other veterinary offices in town. I have been talking to Dr. Pease for a few months. It seems this guy will absolutely do anything to NOT see your dog. My dog has been having seizures. When I first called him I was told that it could be exposure to a toad. Then later on probably a brain tumor This is only over the phone and never in person. My dog had a rough night of seizing three or four times. I tried calling Dr. Pease and leaving a message. He never got back to me so I called again. I got him on the phone and he was saying that it was most likely a brain tumor again. He told me to take him to a "place I've taken him to before" and I told him he was the only doctor my dog's ever seen. When I asked him the phone number of this place he just said "Waiamea" and couldn't elaborate with an address or phone number. I tried calling other vets, but I got really vexed that Dr. Pease wouldn't see him. I called up Dr. Pease and I asked him how he could be so sure it was a brain tumor without even seeing him. That there was a toad in his food the other night. He started reading from a clinical book. Since the book was saying the most likely thing was a brain tumor then that's obviously what it was to him. That's great for a one size fits all approach but I at least think a dog should be seen. He was saying the only thing that could be done was the send him to Oahu and get him an MRI. Once again there was nothing he could do and no place he could refer me. He made it very clear that I could not bring him in and he could not be bothered to see him. It's amazing this guy has a practice, someone should really look at revoking his license. I just hung up frustrated. TLDR Dr. Pease is someone who can not be bothered to see your dog and will give any reason NOT to see him in person. If you truly love your dog, TAKE HIM TO A DIFFERENT VETERINARIAN. read more

Dr. Is very rude, had a difficult decision to make, my dear buddy Stanley, a 20 yr old cat is seriously ill with tumors. Was too old to do surgery as my regular vet 6 months ago said it would likely end his life then. 6 months later, today, I called All Pets Mobile. The doctor said this, "euthanizing is the least favorite thing we do" and since I was not a patient, he wouldn't come out. He then said, "So, you are not a patient of ours and you want us to come out and do this"??? In such a rude tone. Stanley has been my best friend for 7 years when I adopted him, and this DR. has no compassion. I only recently moved to Hawaii, and was hoping to find a mobile vet. This is not the one. He made me feel like a piece of shit for calling him, at a time when I was searching for a compassionate Dr to come and relieve my buddy from the pain. :( read more

Dr. Pease is a great vet. I have been to many other vets in Hilo and now I go only to him. He can be a little short on the phone but don't let that put you off- give him a try. In person with the dogs he is wonderful. He spends a lot of time with my dogs, and they all love him. He takes the time to explain to me what is going on. He is an old school type vet, no staff, just him, but I love that, because there is never a wait like some vets. He is always on time and you never feel rushed- highly recommended. read more

I called all pet mobile, I asked "my dog has a lump in her mouth and wanted he to come and check it because it had gotten bigger and our vet won't take her til next month, right away rudely he say sorry I can't see her, take her to your regular vet". As soon I said that he was so rude and hang up with me. I'm sorry I love my pet but I called and you wouldn't help us. It was an emergency, I was taught that all veterinary doctors are the that show compassion for all animals and suppose to be bias on if a pet has a regular vet or not. Mr. Pease was on call for Hilo Veterinarian Services on a Sunday. We do not know him. Our dog was sick so we went to see him on emergent basis with a charge $200. We were sent home with the understanding that there was nothing wrong with our dog. Later in the afternoon, our dog had a seizure. Our dog was suffering, unable to get up, salivating with severely watery eyes. We called the services again. Mr. Pease came on the phone and rudely told me, "There is nothing wrong with your dog. Wait till the morning and you can bring him in to Dr. Castro." Unbelievable! Thankfully, a friend gave me the number of Dr. Agnes Horvath. She called and ran through an assessment. She prescribed an aspirin immediately to be followed by prednisone if not better. We followed her advice, and 6 hours later, our dog was able to get up. It turned out he was allergic to his new flea collar. But a doctor who cared got us through a very scary time. As for Mr. Pease (he does not deserve to be called a doctor), he is a dangerous practitioner, one who doesn't care and just rude. If you love your pet, DO NOT take it to Mr. Pease. I would give him zero starts if I could. I had the worst experience I have ever had with a vet. His office is a hole in wall type place in an industrial area. It is also nearly impossible to find with no address numbers on the building that I could find. The office is not visible from the parking area and no sign directing you to the right place. Dealing with Skip Pease was difficult. He didn't seem to care, and was extremely rude. If you need a vet, please find someone else. I would not trust this man with my pets. read more

Our dog Bishop was misdiagnosed as having arthritis, by a different veterinarian in town. We went back when he kept getting worse. They took several xrays, and gave us the recommendation to let it heal by itself. It might be just a sprain. Bishop's "arthritis" however, turned out to be a very acute and rapidly developing "bone cancer". To our dismay, Bishop went downhill quickly, and his deterioration was difficult to endure. At the point where we felt Bishop's recovery was no longer an option, and his pain was intolerable, we called every veterinarian in town and got the response that we had to bring Bishop in. This would have made the end of his life frightening and stressful. Dr. Pease was the only veterinarian that would come to our home, and his expertise, and professional skill was enhanced by his compassion, and gentle care. The relief Dr. Pease provided for Bishop and ourselves was overwhelming. The fact that he was willing to help us in an unknown environment and without ever having seen our Rottweiller, was testament to his years of experience and genuine caring. Dr. Pease even shared genuine tears with my husband when Bishop breathed his last. We will highly recommend Dr. Pease to anyone who truly loves their pet. His service is priceless~ read more

This man is the most unsympathetic, mean spirited, selfish "vet" I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. TWICE we had to call him for help with our cats. Once we had an emergency but he refused to help because it was a weekend, even though he was the one on call for our regular vet. I called our regular vet answering service to tell them and then got a call back from Dr. Pease begrudgingly agreeing to see our cat at his clinic "in a few hours", after he was done "watching football". The second time we had to call him was for end of life support for our cat who has been suffering from progressive kidney disease. Though I was on the verge of tears, as I explained our need, he was rude, insensitive, refused to help in any way, and then hung up on me. Before I could even finish my first sentence he interrupted me and demanded to know if we were one of his clients. When I said no, but I was referred to you by another vet, he became even more short tempered and implied I was wasting his time, then flat out refused to help us, even as he admitted that he did provide the services we were asking for - he just did not want to help us. I tried to explain we are grieving for our very frail baby girl, Delilah, who is at the end of her 20 years of life - she is too weak to stand or walk anymore, and that we just wanted to have her last care provided at home because we don't want her final experience on this earth to be a cold exam room in a pet hospital - but he then said in a loud, terse tone - NO! I am not going to help you - go somewhere else! Then he hung up on me. I sincerely feel this man should not be a vet. He does not have any sympathy. Even if he did not want to help us and our Delilah with what she needs, he could have been kind and sympathetic. He chose not to be, which has only added to our grief and pain today, as we desperately search for a way to provide our Delilah the comfort and compassion she deserves. read more

My vet is currently out on an emergency leave and don't know when they can start booking. It's not the first time they have been unaccommodating, however I couldn't wait around this time for them to figure it out and get my baby's DHLPP Vaccine. Dr. Pease was referred to me by a friend. I called him and left a message regarding my requests. To my dismay he called me within the next hour and was able to accommodate me two days later. I was so excited and couldn't have felt more relieved. You can read the negative comments all you want, but let me tell you, Dr. Pease is a very caring and patient kind man. He truly has a true love for all furbabies. He even gave me a Health Record sheet to keep track of my furbabies vaccines. Surprised my vet couldn't even give me that. Wow so initially I was glad to have a conversation over the phone about making a appointment to have a puppy of mine looked at for her hernia. He said he could do the surgery next week. I was not sure if see needed the surgery or not so I asked if we make a appointment to just see if she needed it. He sprung the next morning or afternoon on me as a option to check which though nice was very spontaneous and close without planing.. in the last 24 hrs we have been dealing with dramatic shift in our family as we had to randomly prepare to receive my father in law from the main land. He is old and scared of the virus outbreak and we have been is a crazy rush to adjust everything in our life and rearrange our house all in the last 20 or so hours since making this Appointment for our puppy. I wrote down the number down for the dr office after having called several places and lost it when moving and preparing things for my wife's dad coming... in the craziness of everything happening and changing around us I spaced we even had made a appointment... when called by the doctor I immediately realized Id lost the number and even the time due to the crisis my family is dealing with. I apologized profusely and he promptly told me good luck and hung up... I called back and said I still would like the surgery and always had wanted that surgery appointment and only had made this pre appointment without prior planning at his offer. He said to me he didn't know if the job interested him anymore since I "blew off his appointment"... that he felt very disrespected and put off.... are you kidding me bro... even after I explained what has been going on you took a smug tone and attitude about being forgotten due to family emergency. I don't even think this is a real company. My pet was very sick and I was looking for someone to come to put her down. The "doctor" called me back and couldn't hear me (I guess bad connection) and was incredibly rude and in the end said to me "this is crazy, just forget it" and hung up in my ear. Unbelievable. When I called back, they avoided my phone call. There has to be something better out there. My strong advice is if this is the way the handle a simple phone call, I certainly wouldn't let them handle my pet. read more

While it may not be traditional office, you are not going to wait an hour, sit in a lobby of stressed dogs, or feel pressed for time. The few times I have been here my visits were at least 30 min and Dr Pease took the time to explain what was going on with my dog, and how to treat, along with the different options. read more

I like the fact that this is a small operation, virtually no wait time, and dr. Pease is never in a rush, takes time to explain things and bring out charts and med. books to show you stuff so you see what he's talking about. I haven't had any severe crises he has helped me with, but for all the more routine or minor trouble stuff with a couple of my dogs he has been just fine and seems to know what he's doing.
