Mr. Buendia and his team planned out the job, gave us a reasonable estimate, told us from when to when the job was going to be done, emailed us job proposal, we agreed and signed contract, and the the job started. They covered floors and stairs to prevent any damage, while we made sure they had access to an empty bathroom. In the middle of job we discovered that we needed to reinstall 'all walls, which we did not know when we started. Mr. Buendia and I went to the Tile store on Eisenhower Ave., and we chose together a tile that would fit and look great, and align with remaining ceramic floor. The team worked in coordinated way, and the end result is truly terrific! We are very satisfied and very much recommend Mr. Buendia's team to others. Prior to this job we had also hired Mr. Buendia for other jobs, redoing siding and trim on a townhouse, replacing basement foor with tile, replacing ceiling tiles with a true ceiling, painting, installing storm doors. I hired this company to redo a shower stall. Because they were already going to be doing concrete…read morework in the shower stall, I pointed out two, small, hand-sized areas of concrete that needed patching on my balcony. The owner Chris, said he would not charge me because it was negligible. I was happy that they were a good faith company who wouldn't nickel and dime me. Boy, I turned out to be wrong on that! Their work in the shower was just alright. It required a second pass to fix some lines that were not quite straight and they offered to fix it. The shower was substantially less work than initially scoped. The estimate was for a much larger job than needed to be done to fix the shower. I expected to get a discount on the initial estimate. Chris discounted me $200. I agree to pay him the full estimate minus $200 for services not rendered in the initial estimate. After the job is complete, Chris suddenly springs me with an additional charge of $100. He wants to charge me for the balcony patches, which were two child's hand-sized areas. This was quite irritating because not only did they not have to do as much of a job on the shower as they initially thought, but he was going to flip-flop on his initial word that he wouldn't charge me for patching the balcony concrete. He began harassing me via e-mail, using adjectives like "ridiculous" and questioning my character. This was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. Within a couple of emails he began threatening to take out a lien on my property. That sounded odd to me, like he was bullying and on an anger trip rather than negotiating like a regular contractor. A lien on my property for a dispute over $100? Sounded unreasonable. I would have gladly paid the $100 if he had been honest with the charge up-front, or if he had sent me a change order in writing saying that the balcony patching would take more effort and he wanted to charge for the balcony. It was neither. The patches were tiny and he did much less work in the shower than he initially expected to have to do. It seemed like he was extorting me for additional money after the work was complete because he felt he could get away with threatening me, or because he didn't really like the fact that he had to do a second pass on the shower floor to get it right. I began talking to my condo building manager about this contractor. I learned that he fired one of his workers who was known for doing outstanding work on bathrooms, then threatened him physically if he ever worked on remodeling any of our building units. In short, this guy is trouble. Like the other reviewer also noted, he changes price quotes in the middle of a job or after the job is done, and gets nasty and short-tempered. There are a ton of contractors out there, save yourself a headache.

Alan quickly responded through Yelp and I sent him additional photos/information about what we were looking to fix. He provided me with a detailed and reasonable estimate via email that covered the drywall repair and painting. Once I approved of the estimate, I spoke with Alan on the phone and we picked out a couple consecutive days for the repair. (He explained that certain drywall repairs need additional time to dry/cure before they can be painted.) Alan said they would confirm the evening before and Giovanni would be the one making the repairs. The project got pushed back by a day due to another big job they had to complete. (It wasn't a big deal, since I had blocked out the two days anyway.) Giovanni and an apprentice came to the house in the morning to look at each project area before loading in their equipment. It was amazing how quickly they worked and patched up the drywall. They were just about to take a break for lunch and let the repairs dry when we realized we had an issue with the paint. At the beginning of the repairs, I said I would be responsible for providing the paint. The former owners of the home left labeled cans of all the house paints for us, so I thought everything would be fine. Unfortunately, the ceiling paint for the largest drywall area was nowhere to be found! Giovanni was fantastic and cut out a small section for a color match, even offering to pick up the paint. He went above and beyond for something that was 100% my fault. When they returned, they painted everything carefully. Giovanni is so professional and a perfectionist! Also, any re-work that would need to resolve this issue would really be to tear out most of the nails, screws, etc and start over. I cannot go without a fence at this point. So for me, there is no "mutual" resolution. I would never ask for a refund or discount since I do feel the company did work hard! I just expected first time quality with better materials. I definitely shop at big name stores but try to use local businesses when I can. Full disclosure. I was desperate and AZHI was the first company that could build a fence for me in such a short amount of time. I told Varinia that while I didn't want a gold plated fence, I would accept the estimate and didn't give them much of my expectations. In hindsight, I should've asked for my fence to be much higher because all my neighbors can see into my patio which is very awkward. But I don't blame AZHI. My fault and I only noticed it after it was built. I did ask AZHI to do a few other odd jobs for me which they did and I didn't have any issues with those but the fence... yeah very disappointing. I posted my photos to show what I'm talking about. The lock on one gate still doesn't work properly. Varinia also stated that and said she would change it out since it seemed defective. However, that never happened and now I'm going to go with a different company to do that change out and one other job. Some of the slats are so far apart that people can see into my patio. The wood rot holes are BIG. People just peer in to see if I'm home. Very awkward and scary. Nails and screws protruding out and smashed down. Very unprofessional looking. Sorry. It is!! Please understand that this is my experience and I'm sure that AZHI does a great job on other home improvement areas but my personal opinion is that fencing isn't exactly their expertise.
