TL:DR: They're awesome, honest & easy to work with. Long Review: It's been more than a few weeks since I have last interned here as a service writer. I know from an inside point of view, how they are & I'm confident to say, I will come here when I need to get my car serviced, even if I live all the way in SLC. Never at one point did I feel guilty about cheating a customer or being dishonest. This company is nothing but honest, & they truly try their best to please each & every one of their customers. I loved the atmosphere, never did they make me feel less of a human, like my last internship. They valued me & did their best to teach me & let me learn the ropes of the business. Constantly I observed how they dealt with their customers & it was amazing. Ernie & Alex make every single one of them feel like a family. Alex (service advisor) is extremely good at helping the customers understand what the problem is with their car & even taking them to their car & pointing out the issues instead of letting you just take their word for it. Ernie (the owner), is one of the most honest business owners I've ever dealt with. One of his selling points as an owner, is his service advisor history & how that makes him different from a typical-run shop. And from working with him, it's not all talk. He constantly proved it with how he dealt with customers. His prior experience as a service advisor has given him the ability to see from the view of the customer, not the mechanics, which is rare in an automotive shop. Mechanic-minded shops are thinking all $$, but Ernie is actually thinking from the customers view point. That to me, made him extremely respectable. Multiple times, I've seen them save customers $100s off what they would originally have paid at a dealership or other shop. They don't try to upsell you unneeded parts, only what you absolutely need. If they see an issue other than what your car came in for, of course they will tell you about it, but they didn't pressure you into buying, just more so as giving you a heads up. Also, not to forget the mechanics - they were very fun to work with. They are very proficient in their field, & quick to share their knowledge. Quite a few times, they'd let me watch & ask questions (kind of like a 2-3 year old asks about every little detail in the world) & every time, I got a thorough & easy to understand explanation. They really do know what they're doing, & their mistakes are very far & few in-between. It was very sad for me finishing my internship there, but I do appreciate having the chance to work with them, & hope nothing but the best for them. They treat their customers & employees with the utmost respect & bend over backwards to take care of them, & I don't think you can ask more from a small shop like this. Even though I live in Sandy, I drive to All Repair in Layton even for an Oil Change. I think it is very rare to be able to find an auto repair shop that is so honest and so ready to do whatever it takes to provide great customer service, that the long drive is well worth it! The team has done multiple maintenance and repair jobs for me and I should have written a review way before this. However, after my experience today, I know more than I ever that I have to let people know what a great place this is! Ernie and his team replaced my timing belt a little over a year ago. I decided to get this done before my belt broke since my car was over the 100,00 mile mark. I shopped around and could not find anyone that came close to beating the price quoted to me by Ernie. Not only that, he arranged for my car to be picked up in the morning and brought back to me the same evening! When I went recently for a regular oil change, they found that an oil leak from a valve cover had been leaking onto my timing belt. This could cause the belt to fail. The oil had gummed up on the belt and it needed to be replaced again. Sadly, my warranty had just expired less than two months ago. I could have been looking at hundreds of dollars to have it repaired. Ernie went to work immediately on how he could get at least the parts still covered under warranty. Not only was he able to do that he also threw in the labor! Try and find another shop that would do that. Even though this is a major job that can take hours, I decided to wait there since it was a long drive back to Sandy. Ernie of course offered me his own car to drive back home and bring back later if I wanted. I thought it was very nice of them to fit me in when I had only scheduled a lube and decided to just wait. The waiting room area is roomy and comfortable. Two large couches, a nice television and free Wi-Fi access. Not to mention a nice coffee machine. It is the new kind where you select a pod with the coffee or hot chocolate of your choice and it brews you an individual cup. There is a also a very clean bathroom. I had my Kindle Fire with me and just watched Netflix while I waited. The job was done in even less time than Ernie had estimated, and they had fixed a noisy problem caused by my exhaust heat shield at no charge. Ernie is a great host, he frequently checks in to see if there is anything you need while you are waiting & letting you know the progress being made on your repair. He makes you feel like a guest. I am so happy I found All Repair and can't say enough nice things about the whole team! Do yourself a favor and check them out! read more

Please take your vehicles to All Repair Auto Care! I looked up a place that was close to my home and Ernie and his guys have some well earned reviews! Ernie was so great to us. I called him about 12pm and he told me to come right in. I couldn't get there for a little while, but when I did get there he took care of me IMMEDIATELY. He had my repair done that day. 4 hours tops, and they gave me a ride home, so I didn't have to wait in the waiting area. When I got my oiled changed at my usual spot, they told me my front differential was leaking and that I should get it checked out. So I called All Repair and Ernie called me back within the hour after dropping off my car and told me what was really wrong! It was my power steering pump which I KNEW I had been having trouble with. He had it replaced and back to me in no time. The price I paid was more than fair, for the service and speed of what I needed done. It turns out my oil gasket has a small leak too, one that I can keep an eye on and wait to have done after I've used the oil I had just gotten replaced. Ernie could have just told me it needed replacing and charged me for all the new oil, (It was synthetic and I would have been out about $60) but he was honest with me, and had my best interest's in mind. My power steering runs BEAUTIFULLY. Please, give Ernie and his guys the opportunity take care of your vehicles. They will earn your respect and trust without a doubt. Lets be frank here, if I could give Ernie and Alex ten stars, I'd still want to give them eleven at least. I stumbled across this shop tucked away near the Smiths grocery DC in Layton when I was in desperate need of upper and lower ball joints on my '00 Dodge Ram and being new to Utah, I didn't have anyone to ask for recommendations. Calling around to price the work, I received one quote of $900, another for $950, and the one from Ernie that totaled....$600. Plus a five star review on Google? Sold. My truck gave the technician headaches through the whole process, and they had to stay past closing to finish the repairs. No complaints, no extra charges, just a smile and a "sorry it took so long!" Each time we've been back it's been the same. On par or much lower pricing, great service, and always greeted warmly. Since my husband and I both drive older vehicles (mid 90s and early '00s) we are in the shop a little more often than I care to admit, but this crew always treats us wonderfully. In fact, I just bought a new vehicle for a song that needed some TLC to get it up to par, and from the dealer lot brought it straight to Ernie for more than $3,000 in repair work. How is that for putting your money where you mouth is? I'll be sad when we leave Davis County and it will be hard to schedule my repairs with these guys....but I'll probably drive down from Logan anyway because they are frankly THAT good. read more

July 29, 2017 I contacted All Repair Auto Care regarding somewhat of an emergency in that my truck was overheating, this occurred while embarking on a family camp trip that morning while towing my trailer. The truck had exhibited higher than normal operating temps about three weeks prior to this without pulling the trailer. I had a brand specific dealer look at the problem and was told everything looked ok. Upon calling All Repair Auto Care and explaining my situation, Ernie stated that he could look at the truck and possibly get me back on the road with the family. Within an hour of leaving the truck, Ernie called and stated the radiator core was partially plugged with not enough pressure. With the truck now 20 years old without radiator problems and the fluctuating temp gauge I thought it might be the radiator or the thermostat. Ernie advised he could have a new radiator installed before the end of the day. Upon completion of the work, I proceeded on the planned camping trip without problems. All Auto Care saved me delaying the camping trip for several days while the truck was repaired. The communication with me and the work performed by All Repair Auto Care exceeded my expectations. I was test driving a car and brought it here for a check-up. Alex was super cool and told me the price was $50. Since another mechanic in the area had done it for me (with another car) for only $30, I told Alex. He said that he would make me a deal: that if there was nothing wrong with the car, he wouldn't charge me at all. Sounded good to me! He was kind and chatty while I waited and we discussed the pros of having a timing chain over a timing belt. I hate timing belts! I wondered aloud if this new car had a chain or belt. Good news! The car was clean as a whistle so they didn't charge me. And after I drove away, I saw that I had a missed call and a voicemail from Alex. He checked, the car had a timing chain, he just thought I would like to know. Also, another lady came in and I saw how gracious and honest Alex was with her, as well. That was nice to see. This place was rad and I loved it. My only teeny weeny addendum to the greatness is that I bought that car and the next day it wouldn't start. Turns out the battery was totally dead. So while they checked the whole engine (I hope!), they missed that the battery was a dud. read more

I am new to Utah and found a great review on All Repair Auto. I needed to have someone look at my Subaru, which was making this clicking sound from the suspension. I was met by Ernie at the front desk. Ernie asked me how he could help and I explained my situation. On the spot, I was asked to drive the car around back and someone would like to the noise. Of course, I could not repeat the sound in the garage, so we took a quick drive. During the drive, the noise did come back. When we got back, the technician looked under the car as I bounced it. The problem was obvious, a loose stabilizer bar bolt, which I tightened up at home. It is not common to get somebody to even look at your car without handing them a credit card first. I offered to pay for their time, which they refused. For their time and expertise, I am writing this positive review. Wow! what a great experience! Ernie was totally honest and helpful. I have an older Toyota 4Runner that I was considering selling because of several issues related to wear and tear. I took my car to All Repair Auto Care because I just purchased new tires, and it needed an alignment. I talked with Ernie about my thoughts regarding selling this car. He offered to give my vehicle a complete look over. After discussing my options, Ernie offered to complete several needed repairs for an EXTREMELY reasonable price. I am not from Utah, so not knowing someone who works on cars, I turned to Google. I researched car repair shops and one of the places that came up was "All Repair Auto". I looked over their reviews, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. My Alternator was going out and was still under warranty. I have a Volkswagen and it's a 14.9 hour job so my car was expected to take 2 days. The guys at the shop stayed late into the night and went in at 5am just to get my car finished. It was done in less then 24 hours. I had to have my car looked at by an adjuster to make sure the Alternator was actually going out and All Repair Auto took me to my appointment and picked me up since I had to leave my car at the shop. They even picked up lunch for me. I would recommend them to anyone. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home. read more

We've been taking our vehicles to All Repair for a few years now, and we haven't had any trouble at all. Ernie's always helpful (as are the rest of the folks at the shop). You know how sometimes you feel like maybe your mechanic is fixing stuff that doesn't really need fixing? I've never felt that way with All Repair. They'll tell you what's broken, or what's close to broken. They'll give you options for repair, and quickly and skillfully get the repairs done. Your car will even come back freshly washed. Their prices are fair, and I'll say again: I've never felt like they've fixed anything that didn't need fixing. Ernie saved my car! Before I came to this shop, I had given up on my vehicle. It wouldn't pass emissions, mpg had gone terribly low, performance all messed up. I was fed up. Took it to Ernie for a fix on the air intake, and it was done quickly, effectively, and at a fantastic price. Through the life of my car another problem arose with cylinders mis-firing and mileage going down, and awful performance. I thought surely I would have to trade it in. But this shop fixed everything in the course of an afternoon, now it feels like its purring brand new. All Repair is without a doubt my go-to and my only recommended shop to anyone in the Utah area. I took our cars in for safety and emissions and to get them registered at All Repair Auto Care and I was floored by the way I was treated this morning! I have never been treated so respectfully and politely at a car place. Not once did I feel like I was getting the runaround because I'm a girl who doesn't know about cars. The waiting room was clean and comfortable with a large play area for my daughter. And they had lotion in the bathroom! The workers fixed our car horn and windshield wipers at no cost so our old car would pass safety and emissions. And they let my daughter take home a book that she was admiring. I've been going to Ernie for years now and always found him to be honest. They've even managed to nail down the problem with my air-conditioning when no one else seemed able to. They also go out of their way to accommodate my needs and don't try to sell me on things I don't need. Ernie has even given me basic maintenance warnings which are extremely helpful. They've managed to get me to trust them, something I don't do easily. I would definitely recommend All Repair Auto Care. Ernie and his shop are as accommodating as anyone gets. Honest, upfront, courteous and professional. We don't live in Salt Lake but bought a car on the way home (Jackson, WY). We needed a timing belt job and Ernie went above and beyond to make it happen, even having a mechanic work over some, not the norm for any shop (probably shouldn't expect it either, but it shows how far he'll go to satisfy a customer). This is hands down the most ethical mechanic I have found in my 28 years of looking (38 now). I can do nearly ANY repair to my Audi's or BMW's myself but choose to bring my cars here when time does not permit me doing it myself, or the job requires special tools or patients than I may not currently have. I do a lot of repairs for my friend, family, church members etc. but again send them here when I cannot do it for one reason or another. Honest diagnosis of car issues and they try to help you keep cost down by looking for least expensive repair option. Instead of telling me I needed a whole new electric window motor, they found out it was just the clips that broke off the window. A much less expensive option than what I anticipated!
