I do not normally watch scary movies, nor do I ever attend Halloween events at any of the major theme parks, but I do enjoy going to the All Saints Lunatic Asylum in Apple Valley. Even my cousins from Los Angeles will drive-up to the high desert to visit me just to want to visit All Saints. I have attended at least once every year for the past 6yrs (not counting quarantine, of course) and just when I THINK I know the maze, something always changes, and that's what keeps me coming back: the curiosity of change with the excitement of fear. I don't know, maybe it is a weird psychological thing, but whatever it is, I know All Saints is fun. Last year, an Asylum patient escaped and she was one creepy little girl. The year before that, some big bloody dude in overalls followed me outside. I am telling you, you never know what Halloween will give you. Inside the building you are greeted by what looks like a vintage office greeted by wicked nurses, but that's not where it begins. It begins when the nurse opens the door for you. In previous years, we entered an elevator. This year we entered the bathroom (stay the right, just saying). With just flickering lights and shadows between areas to guide you through the maze, you get greeted by someone, or something, in every room, sometimes. See! That's what I mean, this place keeps you guessing. A screeching sound, a pounding on the wall, sometimes a doll room, sometimes an empty room, the rooms are different every year. It is insane. And just when you think you are safe in the Giftshop, someone is breathing beside you (I am short and it seems every masked doctor, butcher, patient, witch, are taller than me). Happy Haunting...which doesn't only take place on Halloween. Apparently they have events during Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter. read more

Can a haunt be charming? The All Saints Lunatic Asylum is designed with such love and attention to detail that I wanted to linger and see everything. Located at the edge of desert in a small strip mall, The All Saints Lunatic Asylum does a great job of providing Halloween fun for the whole family. This is not hard core maniacs chasing you, this is walking through an intricate maze and experiencing various well designed environments and actors portraying different storylines. Make-ups and costuming is very good. It costs 10$ if you purchase online, 13$ if you pay at the door. They accept credit cards with a 30 cent charge extra. read more

Mr. Smiley is definitely not all smiles and that mofo got me good. After searching for a good haunt close to the Inland Empire (where I call home), All Saints seemed the obvious choice with all its fantastic reviews. I was a little skeptical given that this place is located in the middle of a strip mall. When I think of Halloween Haunts with "asylum" in the title, I'm thinking it will take place in an actual asylum, like some of the ones I've been to on the east coast (my former home). Let me tell y'all something, I've been to many, many, MANY mazes/haunts over the years. It is one of my yearly traditions for about 11 years now, and All Saints just nabbed the title for the best one! This was an AWESOME experience from start to finish. Without giving too much away, I will say that the folks behind All Saints really know what they're doing and that's obvious. The entire walk through felt like a trick on the senses at times which just contributed to the eeriness of the whole ordeal. What I absolutely loved about this place is that they do not rush you through nor do they put people through in herds. Although there was a very long line (we went on Halloween night), my husband and I were sent through the maze absolutely alone which was a little terrifying! This place is a gem. Let's get this out there right now. I don't scare easily. I jump a little at horror movies when Freddy jumps out on the screen, but that's shock reaction. It's the truly disturbing, creepy, gruesome, and under-your-skin horror that leaves me terrified. And I apply the same rules to haunted houses; sure, there are things that jump out at you from nowhere (even when you expect them to do it) but it's the other haunts going on that add up to make me want to empty my bladder all over the floor. This event changes a bit every year so it's no use saying what I've seen; but suffice to say, there are creepy women with babies coming at me,spooky noises and out of sight voices, bags of bodies hanging you have to get through, hidden things hiding along the walls coming after you... this is a haunted asylum, after all. It's worth the admission to get the dickens scared out of you, is what I'm sayin'. Speaking of asylums, after reading Erin's review below, I find it hilarious anyone would come to a haunted house thinking it's a real asylum that also apparently can't read the fine print. Maybe I'm not as gullible as some, but I love how much I feel like I might be inside a real asylum that has just gone crazy and is filled with the living dead. It's like a really good spooky movie that wants to get under your skin, just like the people scaring you do here. I hope you're as terrified as I am. It's also just a lot of fun, too. I don't have a heart condition but I'd really say, anyone who does... stay home and watch Netflix instead. read more

The actors are committed to their characters and scares, all rooms have extreme attention to detail, and you are transported to a terrifying experience inside an abandoned asylum with forgotten patients and experiments that were never meant to see the light of day. Had a blast visiting this Asylum! It was super scary LOVED everything about it. I must add how creative they were when putting this together. From beginning to end we had a blast A VERY SCARY BLAST! I didn't know that there was a year round haunted attraction in the high desert! This is a very ambitious project. You can tell they put some thought into the decorations and the effects. The acting was good in most of the haunted house and lacking in some parts of it. I have worked in multiple stage projects and film projects. I instantly know when the actors are not giving everything they got. The actors just stood there in the polka dot room. The story was non existent, other than the overall theme of a haunted asylum. I'd give it a storyline with a good strong scary ending; make it interactive. Give the actors compelling lines other than "I kill people. bwahahaaha (scream)!" Some of the male performers spoke in their falsetto which didn't scare me. It actually made me laugh. Perhaps have multiple paths that the guests could follow. That way, they will want to enter the attraction more than once. There could be puzzles to solve, items to give actors, or something similar. Once I went to a haunted house where Bloody Mary was chasing me throughout the entire maze, which was themed as layers of hell. I even had to give Charon a gold coin to escape her. See, something like that would have made this experience stand out more. They had good jump scares, and they did scare me. But the attraction didn't take advantage of every situation. There was a long, dark hallway where all I did was traverse it to the next room. They would have killed me in that room had they had a jump scare there. I was hoping that would happen. Overall it was well worth the $10, and I will come back again. I plan on returning for their escape room. I am very much impressed with this attraction's production value. This competes, rather well, with companies that spend millions to get your Halloween dollars: HHN and Knott's. So, go and get scared. You won't be sorry. Best part is you don't have to drive down the hill to experience a good quality haunted attraction. I give this attraction a solid B. Good job! read more

Just the most amazing Haunted Attraction I have ever been in. I've been going to Universal Studios for years and I have never been this scared or impressed in my life. It really focuses on the physiological more than jumps scares. For 10 dollars it is totally worth your time. You can tell there is a lot of passion put into this, from the set design to the acting. Everything has a purpose and reason for being there. I know for a fact that every season it is changing or expanding, so soon every time will be a little different. read more
