I had high hopes for the All Set restaurant. It is in a great location and great place to grab food and drinks before seeing a show at the Fillmore. Which is what we did a few nights ago. This restaurant has a nice bar and plenty of seating. It also has outdoor seating where we sat. It was not a big outdoor area but they also had heat lamps which was a plus for colder months. My friends and I had some of the happy hour drinks which came in cute smaller size glasses. We thought the drinks were good. My friends had the chickpea fries which they said were good and the caesar salad. The restaurant was nice enough to split that into two bowls for them, and they also shared the crab mac and cheese. Which they said was not hot or warm really. I had the cornbread to start which was very good and the grilled chicken sandwich which was not that tasty sorry to say. I would come back here for the drinks but the food not so much. Also, our waiter was nice but service was kinda slow and we were kinda in a rush as we were going to see a show after. All Set is a beautiful restaurant. The staff were accommodating to our party. Our server was attentive and nice. We went for our sister annual galentines brunch. It was their stage brunch and they're there every 3rd Saturday of the month I believe. The show was worth the money. The ladies were great they took photos with everyone. Now the food was a 10/10 spectacular. My slow cooked wings were the star of the show. Those greens and Mac baby I was a little hesitant but they did great. My sisters enjoyed their food as well. So this review is only for restaurant week food. We came by on a snowy Friday night for dinner, deciding to do the restaurant week menu (pictured, $55 per person, three courses each) intending to share. Everything was lovely. I can see us getting All Set (we'd had thier food at Denizens before) to 5 stars, but we want to try more from the regular menu. We had the charred octopus and the White Bean Hummus to start, loving both. My only nitpick is that I wanted a slightly larger portion of the octopus. Then followed the Schnitzel and seafood risotto (with no cheese per request) and the only minor thing missing from the latter was a little spice. Sure the cheese would've added a bit of that, but a pass of red pepper flakes would be perfect. The fondue style sauce on the Schnitzel was great and it was made perfectly. Our desserts were lovely too! We also really liked our cocktails, but were simultaneously reminded of DC area prices at nicer restaurants for cocktails. We'll for sure be back. read more

I've been to All Set once before and remember having a good experience. Food/Service etc... This time things were a bit different. We stopped in around 3pm on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The bartender was nice and attentive. It was the food that was disappointing. Two out of the three items lacked salt and flavor. The clam chowder lacked so much flavor, I had to send it back. It had potential and was served in a cute mug with yummy old bay oyster crackers. Coming from New England and having had my fair share of chowda, this one missed the mark. The Mac and cheese was another disappointment for me. It needed SALT. The cheese mixture was lacking as well. I get that not all Mac's are gonna taste the same and I'm open to different styles of Mac. However, this was just flat out bland. The shining star was the order of wings. We ordered the smoked dry rubbed wings. Those were good. Love a good smoked wing. The overall vibe of the restaurant gets two thumbs up, I'd definitely try them out again, but would stay away from the chowder and mac. read more

I got food poisoning from eating raw oysters at the restaurant on Friday, June 20, for dinner. I should have known better not to eat them in June. Avoid ordering oysters. Drinks are smaller than a non happy hour drink-- fyi. But they are tasty-- I had Boston tea party! We wanted to order another round, however service was slow and our waiter didn't get to us until happy hour was over. My friend and I split the chickpea fries with yummy aioli and the mussels. I enjoyed the fries, they weren't my friends' favorite. Mussels were tasty and a great $11 for happy hour. For our meal my friend and I split the Ceasar salad and crab Mac and cheese. The Caesar salad was fair and the crab mac & cheese, unfortunately came out lukewarm. Probably would have tasted better if it came out hot. All set is a New England style restaurant with a wide variety of menu options. They have HH Monday - Saturday 3-6 pm in the dining room and 3- close in the bar and lounge area. Pretty great place with good food and drink options. It was a great option before going t to Fillmore, since it was right around the corner. There's plenty of parking in the area, both street and garage, but you do have to pay. If there's an event in the area, then definitely plan ahead. We sat outside, and the weather was perfect. Seating was covered, which was a bonus. Our server, Oz, was pretty good and attentive. I ordered the fish tacos, which were pretty delicious. My husband and I FINALLY got to try All Set and we were not disappointed! This place has a lunchtime deli feel and location but it's in downtown Silver Spring and half a block from a garage with a huge patio. The inside is WAY nicer than we thought it would be. The vibe is definitely understated and classy. The service was efficient and helpful, and they offer a prixe fixe menu from time to time. This time, we passed because my husband doesn't do seafood and this place is DEFINITELY a seafood joint with 1/3 of the menu dedicated to NC style BBQ. Odd combination, but it works. We tried the Old Bay wings first because people said they were good. They were right. Double fried, and triple seasoned, and served with blue cheese AND ranch for the win, this is an epic appetizer that you'll want to make your entree! I went for a Caesar with salmon and my husband tried the grilled chicken sandwich. Honestly, the Caesar was phenomenal but it had a TEENSE too much cheese for ME (I know that's blasphemy for many Caesar lovers but there it is). My husband said his sandwich was delicious as well and we ordered a specialty dessert that we hope wil become a summer staple: scones with whipping cream and blackberry compote. Absolutely tremendous. I'll cop to wishing the portion was bigger but it was all the perfect size and amount and we left full and happy. The menu itself is expansive and I want to try the Ribeye and some seafood next time but this was a LATE night nosh so we wanted to eat light. Ready, (All) Set, Go! We stopped by All Set because it was the closest restaurant to where we were running errands. Overall, All Set was a great place to stop by for a quick and easy lunch. For my meal, I went with a Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich, which was AMAZING. The sandwich was delicious and JAMMED PACKED with shrimp. A friend was visiting town and we were looking for places close to her hotel. The menu immediately caught our eye with the clam chowder, lobster roll and crab cakes. We decided to give it a try and are soooo glad we did. From the host who greeted us, our server and the multiple staff who brought our food, refilled our water and took away dishes when we were done--the customer service was on point. The food and drinks--everything we had was tasty. I had the oysters for appetizers and she had the clam chowder. The oysters were fresh and came with a variety of garnishes. The clam chowder came in a clear cup and was topped with old bay crackers. We also ordered the mussels which came with a decent amount and some bread to soak up the white wine butter sauce. For our entrees, I had the trout topped with butter crab which came with cauliflower and potatoes. She had the lobster roll hot with butter and a side of sweet potato fries. We both would go back to order these dishes. The skin of my trout was crispy, the butter crab was a nice way to finish the dish and the vegetables were cooked but not mushy. For drinks, she got the frozen passion fruit margarita and I got the Paloma picante. The margarita was delicious, you could really taste the passion fruit flavor, it was sweet and a little tart. The Paloma was prepared with jalapeño infused tequila and had a nice kick though it wasn't too hot. Both drinks happen to also be on the happy hour menu (along with the oysters and mussels we ordered). I ordered a second drink. Lastly, we ordered cookies for dessert which honestly we couldn't eat at the restaurant because we were too full but even later they were good. I arrived here with a party of 4 about 2 hours before a concert at the Fillmore. Our server Oz was nice and very respectful. As our visit went on it they got slammed with people. I felt like they didn't have enough staff, but this wasn't any fault of Oz, in my opinion. The food was good and came out the correct temperature and texture. I also got to try my husband's Texas brisket hash, which was $29. I liked the flavors better than my dish but still, think it was pretty standard breakfast food. It had been a few years since I had dined at All-Set but it was a great return! I had plans to catch up with friend and knew that All-Set provided a central location and has maintained a solid reputation for years, so figured it would be hard to go wrong. To our surprise (and pleasure) we walked in during their drag brunch, which apparently only takes place on every 3rd Saturday of the month. Although we caught the tail end of the show, I definitely want to return intentionally to enjoy the experience from beginning to end. Our servers were high energy, fun and all so incredibly friendly. It was hard not to smile while interacting with them. We kept our orders pretty simple, both ordering a glass of champagne and the crab benedicts. They were delicious and came with a side of home fries that were also very tasty. We also ordered some coffee and the ricotta donuts for dessert. I wasn't the biggest fan of these but my friend seemed to enjoy them. My visit reminded me though what a great option All-Set is for a brunch destination in downtown Silver Spring and plan on coming back soon in the months to come to check out the drag brunch from start to finish! read more

There's underground parking lol yes please! And finally the food was just so tasty. I had the clam chowder soup and it came in a glass which was so cute. Then I had a fish dish. I think it was trout and it came with a bed of cauliflower which also tasted so good. I don't think I have had vegetables taste so delicious!!!! Lovely mature crowd as well. Be sure to make reservations because if you don't want to have to wait. Oh one more thing...I wish our waiter paid more attention to us. The mood is set with statement chandeliers, and soul-touching music like R&B, Afrobeats, or a Caribbean vibe depending on the day. They have a large drink menu with plenty options for food too. The Queen Bee cocktail has not disappointed me. I highly recommend their cornbread which was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. I also had the pulled pork and collard greens and enjoyed all of it. I love this place. I'm always surprised with how good the food is. The service is extremely chaotic. I've come here with clients for lunch meetings and a few times sat outside. We have no idea who our servier was. It wasn't really a big deal as we got our food and drinks (kind of difficult to get a refill) but we felt bad asking random staff for drinks/napkins/boxes but we got all the things we wanted. Our server was super knowledgeable and gave us recommendations for what to try! We started out with the cornbread and I had the brisket hash! The cornbread was not dry like the typical cornbread and the butter that accompanies it was an amazing added touch! But let's talk about this brisket hash! Hands down one of the best hashes I have ever had. Everything was so tender and flavorful! It comes with a runny egg but I got it with a scrambled egg! The food and the service were both amazing. The Valentines menu came across my email so we decided to give it a try. The staff were so welcoming. You could order from the regular menu or the Valentines menu and it was nice to have that option. My husband and I ordered from the 3 course Valentines menu and every course we had was absolutely delicious. The duck l'orange was amazing. The crab stuffed lobster was also excellent. We Went at 4:20pm & the establishment was almost empty with maybe 2 tables and 2 people at the bar. *bartender greeted us at the bar promptly and was very engaging and pleasant. He spent some time recommending popular drinks. I went with the "Pretty in Pink" and it was light, sweet & bubbly. *Decor in the establishment is cute, elegant, nautical. * Well fleet oysters were Ordered at 4:29 and we received them in under 10 minutes. They were delightful. *Salmon Jerk Skewers were a recommendation from our bartender (he raved about most of the food & his recommendations were spot on). *Teeniest HH lobster portion on earth for $18. I understand that happy hour portions are smaller but I kid you not this was a portion that equaled Maybe a tablespoon. Was it delicious? It was incredible tasting but had I known I was getting less than a Costco sample size on an $18 roll I would not have ordered that. I hope management can take this into account because what in the world!! That was messed up. Our Bartender let us know that ordering the full size one has a better portion. He was wonderful so if I could give the review on service it would be 5/5 but I am knocking a star down for the crazy portion size. These bad boys were piping hot. Very well seasoned and DELCIOUS! Crab Mac & Cheese - Also piping hot. I loved that I could taste the crab meat which is not usually the case. We were visiting our friend who lives a mile away from here, and he recommended this spot. I got the seafood pasta, which was delicious! The (not so) secret ingredient is the tomato brown butter. It rendered this nutty, toasty flavor to the dish that was scrumptious. I was also impressed by the amount of mussels and shrimp in the dish. The restaurant was packed on a Friday evening so I definitely recommend making reservations. Service was slooooow though.
