What happened to this place? I moved away for a few years and the place has gone to the birds. The selection is nowhere near what it used to be and the people working there seemed miserable or just really tired and wanted to go home. The place has no soul left. The pricing was very high, especially on singles. I'm talking near $100 higher than what I paid online just last week for last years product for a hobby box. They selection wasn't there either. They seemed to have a bunch of flagship though if you like lower end stuff. I used to love the selection most about this place. I was going to ask if they had anything in the back because you used to be able to get just about anything there and if it wasn't in stock they would order it for you but no one even bothered to welcome or pay attention to me. I attempted to approach them but it seemed like they were trying to go out of their way to not make eye contact with me. I'm hoping they weren't being rude on purpose for some unknown reason... but when I decided to leave because I could not get any assistance I said you guys have a nice day. They looked up at me briefly and said nothing and went back to doing what they were doing. No you too or nothing. It was like they didn't want me there and was not welcome which is not a problem because the value was not there To make me want to return. What a bummer, El Cajon lost a true gem. read more

This place is horrendous. I called to ask a simple question and nobody answered, so I went in person and called again while I was there. The phone was literally ringing while the employees just stood in the back talking and ignored it, even though they weren't busy at all. Both people working there seemed miserable and acted like they didn't care. They were also pretty rude. I may be a teenager, but I still have manners and know right from wrong, and the way they treated me made me feel like I was just some annoying customer instead of someone they should respect. I brought in a rare card and they valued it ridiculously low. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same people scalping products from nearby Target and Walmart. Very sketchy dealers. Beware of scalper pricing. New Pokemon blister pack came out today that was $16.99 on release, and less than 12 hours it's for sale here for $45. My 6 yo loves cute starter pokemon but I don't have the ability to wake up at oh dark hundred to stand in line for something like this. I wish stores would stop trying to gouge people who are just trying to let their children have a hobby . You don't have to raise your prices just to make a premium. Wow! This card shop has taken a massive dive. When I say I was treated rudely I mean I was treated with absolute disrespect. We asked a question and were completely ignored by all the workers. As a person with a disability and in a wheelchair I couldn't get any prices after trying to draw the employees attention multiple times. Then when finally getting their attention they said we didn't ask them the question directly in front of their face and with the proper eye contact. I guess you need to follow a special protocol to have the absolute honor to talk to any of these guys. Maybe if you are lucky, they will even sell you some of their outrageously priced blaster boxes or a box off their wall of series 1 hobby boxes. These guys even laid into my caregiver for sticking up for me. Then as I was already on my way out the door they muttered under their breath that I could just roll my a** outside and not come back. I've been coming and visiting Jerry, Michelle and Scruff for 10-15 years. I've always been treated as family. This time I was berated and talked down to probably because I was in a chair and they were called out for not being able to do their jobs and it hurt their egos. I have also read a review that the owner denied access to a disabled veteran and his service dog because he questioned the legality of them denying his dog entrance. Apparently whoever denied them access gets the sniffles around dogs and made sure to tell the disabled veteran that his safety was more important than following ADA law and honoring his service (this is from a google review 7 months ago). So this may be a pattern on how they handle accessibility issues. It's a shame because I had a $5k budget to buy a case of Bowmam today and now I have to go locate a new LCS to visit frequently. I'll never be spending another dollar here again and I truly hope that they figure out how to interact with customers before they fail miserably but the damage is probably already done. PS: There is a wonderful new shop off the 125 called Supreme Card Shop and it's only a few minutes away. I was able to pick up a case of 25 Bowman Jumbo and some 24 Bowman draft. Many have expressed to us that we weren't the only people that have had "interesting" stories about the new owner of this shop. *This is all entirely my own opinion of the shop and in no way to be treated as anything other than that. I am entitled to write and tell about my experience from my own perspective. The shop contacting Yelp to try to silence my review will not bully me into taking it down. I have removed the part of the review about the shop smelling like MJ because it is possible that it could have come from a customer. If the owner wants to message me on yelp to talk civilly about the interaction in the shop I'm open to it. Walked in and they had a "Rip it " day sponsored by Topps! Gave away four free packs, raffle tickets for special drawings and discounted cards, packs. They also had free drinks, chips, pizza, bread sticks. This shop has been around a very long time. Took my son there when he was little and now get the joy of taking my grandson! Went to this location a few days ago with my siblings. We're into Pokemon and OnePiece, so we wanted to check it out. While their selection is small for our hobbies, it was still a really great experience! Prices vary but our purchases were well reasonable! I didn't get his name, but the man who helped us was very nice and gifted us a few Pokemon packs, most likely due to Christmas time. Best employee there!!! read more

Where to begin? Went in about a month ago and wasn't acknowledged until I went to check out. Was a little put off by it, but went back in today to give it another shot, same same but different. Having visited multiple times to All Star Cards. The family owned collectable card store has won us over for everything sports cards and Pokémon. The father and son duo are awesome. These guys know their stuff. They carry all the great new stuff as well as have great if not the best vintage cards for sale. Spent a long time looking through this huge collection of products that ranged from Sports cards, Pokemon, Kpop, Yui-Gi-Oh! and so much more. I was amazed with the variety of products they had and couldn't help but buy the newest Yui-Gi-Oh set Justice Hunters. The prices of their products were super fair and it was nice seeing that. Tim and Sam were super patient and knowledgeable. They answered many of my questions and kept nice banter. Staff is lackluster, they don't really care, seem to be too busy stocking to help customers or busy moping around. Waited around for over 15 minutes to have no employees even come over to check in when I was trying to get product. Prices are tough on sealed product, very steep and out of touch with market or reality. Shame because it used to be a decent place back in the day. They have a great selection of baseball cards that are priced right. My boys, 9,7,5 years of age find a great selection of Padre players within their price range of 25 cents to $5. The service has been ok, they seem to get nervous when young kids are shuffling through multiple boxes of cards. Which I totally understand. This place has really gone downhill in recent months. They used to have a section of really cool wax pack era cards that you could look through. Now it's covered up as the owner looks to discourage it. Also they are extremely unfriendly and act as if you're bothering them if you ask to see any cards in their showcases. ITS REALLY BAD. All Star Cards is an excellent little sports memorabilia shop. I stopped in here for a baseball bat display sleeve for an autographed bat and some baseball display cubes for signed baseballs. Great prices! The display sleeve is great quality for about $12. The cubes are great quality as well and only $2.50 each. All Star Cards is tucked away in a little strip mall just off the main drag (Cuyamaca) in Santee. Also the sign on the front of the building is sun faded so the place won't jump out at you if you're casually driving by. They carry damn near anything sports related and they know their shit too! Very knowledgeable staff working here. Just a really cool little mom-and-pop shop. All Star Cards is the kind of store that makes it easy to support local, family owned businesses. read more

They have lots of what I'm looking for to go along with lots of all kinds of other cards and supplies that any card hobbyist would be interested in. This is my favorite card shop. I've been coming here for years. It induces the same fun feeling I got when I was little kid in a similar hometown shop I went to in my youth in WI. The shop is a for-profit business that carefully controls their inventory, so they're aren't necessarily eager to buy or trade your cards unless it's worth their time and space. But if you're looking for a shop to enjoy your hobby as a collector, it's an absolute gem. The selection is awesome! And prices are so much more fair than other shops, especially newer ones. I now bring my own younger kids to introduce them to the hobby and help them start their collections. The days we stop by the shop are some of the most fun we have together. That's the point! Even though the hobby can add up to a highly valuable collection worth very real money, it's meant to be a source of fun. Approach it that way and you'll see this is the best shop around. Customer service is horrible. I went in to trade some cards and the MVP buyback card program. My son and I and one more customer were in the store. My son was excited but no one greeted us and no one asked if they can help us with anything. We carried around our little box of cards waiting to be asked, "can I help you with anything?" The man (owner assuming) was by the register sorting cards. Here's what I would say if this was my store..."Hi, I am sorting some cards but feel free to interrupt me and I will help you". How hard is that? Both him and the young man had a look on their face like they were having a bad day. Really!! Let me have a card store and I will be so grateful to all my customers by welcoming them and asking trade, buy, sell. How may I help you? Needless to say they lost my business and any future business from me and my peeps. However, this place has been in existence for so long that they are complacent and couldn't care less if they lose customers. Jerry and Michelle are the best. This family owned business is amazing, and I am glad they were able to make it through the pandemic as we need more family owned small businesses like theirs in this world. Their practices through the pandemic have been nothing short of stellar. Always wearing masks, and hand sanitizer at every showcase in the shop. Every visit, they allow me to take my dog into the store, and even know my dog by name and are quick to offer her treats. These two are very knowledgeable about sports cards and collectibles, and if they are unsure about something, they are quick to research or find out for any/all customers. It is quite disturbing to read some of the reviews, that attempt to slander their name due to the location of their shop. And to even imply that these fine business owners are even remotely racist because you weren't greeted, or tended to hand and foot is absurd. Yes, they won't buy your retail wax that just came out that week at Target or Walmart or commons at the crazy prices YOU think they are worth. Their prices are right along with the NEW hobby standard, and plenty of times even better than market price!!
