New players feel welcomed and there are experienced judges and staff who can coach and give advice. I'm an MTG player and I have looked at most of the card shops in the area and I have to say that this place has the best prices I've seen hands down for packs and singles. It's the only spot I go to make purchases at this point and the selection is great. Has a huge option for precons as well. The gentleman I see behind the counter is always friendly as well. Awesome selection and generally fair pricing for items, considering the state of buying trading cards for retail currently. Store is stocked and has access to pre orders sometimes from what I've seen so that's nice. Someone who seemed like the manager or owner answered all my questions about new Pokemon and DBZ tcg sets but seemed somewhat annoyed with the questions, but maybe it was just an off-day that day. THEY DO NOT UPDATE THEIR HOURS! It seems like they haven't claimed their business on yelp. Current hours from what I remember is 11:00am - 4:00pm NOT 7:00pm! One of the few places that still sell Yugioh cards. Prices aren't terrible for them, but quality control isn't the greatest. Bought a $50 box, didn't really get to look at it as it was shoved into a bag, and after going back to my car, I noticed it was dented (luckily the cards inside were perfectly fine.) Very extensive collection of different TCGs, funko pops, and other various bits/figurines/game accessories. Owners seem a bit uncaring of much going on. Overall would recommend if you're planning on buying for card/funko collections, but not much on playing there. read more

Good place to buy your trading cards, I go here often to buy MTG stuff with a friend. An extensive collection of Pokemon, Magic, and Yu-Gi-Oh as well as some other TCGs with great selection and their pricing is already including taxes. Has a lot of stuff that I haven't seen in some other card stores and is less rude than some others I had gone to. It's only a bit hot in the store so I wouldn't recommend playing (at least during the time of this review, which is summer) and the parking can be a hit or miss. Only downside is that their hours are a bit strange and close fairly early. read more

I have no words I'm a premier player. YCS,WCQ,Reg tops and I haven't been there since like 8 years. Because I don't live in that state. I was going there with a friend of mine called Mario. He worked there for a long time. IDk about right now Always treated me well. I went there and the owner was extremely rude. I was just looking to buy really expensive cards. +$2,000.00 But since they didn't know my face , the lady was treating me worst than a homeless. She told me: look for the cards that yo want here in our displays or write a minimum of 10 cards on a piece of paper that I had to get and give it to me so we can sell you something. MINIMUM OF 10 cards !!!? What's their problem? Really needed for money ? This is insane. Close your store if you don't want to sell cards to people that you don't know. read more

Walked into Gamezone today looking for video games and discovered that this place is for all types of games. If you are a football paraphernalia person this place is for you! If you like old school Star Trek stuff and card game stuff or my little pony collections this place is for you. I recently started playing YuGiOh again, and some guy at walmart where I was buying all the latest packs told me about this place. Me and my friend went to check it out, and WOW! We were blown away on how awesome this place is. Tons of YuGiOh, Magic and other random nerdy or sporty things. They have tons of older boosters and tins, and single cards all at a fare price. They also pay tax on everything, so if you see something that is $12 that's all you pay. They also have tables in the back set up to duel other opponents that you meet there. Between me and my friend we've probably already bought the family a new car with all the money we've spent. I highly recommend checking this place out if you enjoy card games. read more

There are flashier stores; there are bigger stores; there are stores with a much bigger inventory of cards or depth of older/hard to find cards, but the thing that keeps me loyal to GameZone is fairness. Yes, fairness. This store, more than others I often browse has the best price on boosters, fat packs, clash packs, duel decks, and even collector releases (only here was I able to buy a Modern Masters event deck at MSRP rather than the $80-120 it was being sold for elsewhere). The family that runs the place seems genuinely interested in making sure kids and younger folks without deep pockets still have access to these cards rather than letting them be scooped up by speculators or investors. It's a great thing at the end of the week when my son and I can cash in his recycles and take the ~$10 or so he earns and pick up three boosters on our way home. Best prices for Magic supplies in San Diego. Seriously, it's not even a contest. My friends and I reasoned that they must be running some sort of drug-ring on the side because they can't be making much profit off of their prices. NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING. Their supply of Magic singles is a bit lackluster, however, and they don't do trade-ins. They also sell sports stuff, and Pocky-Whatsit Monsters. The one with the yellow rat. That one. I believe there is something called a Bidoof involved. Most of the players and customers seem to be there for Yu-Gi-Oh, the game-show about the kid who does hair-styling while drawing hearts on his cards or something. I just go there to buy the Magic-stuff. $5 for 100 Ultra-Pro Sleeves and $2 Deck-Boxes, yes pleaaaaaaaase. $10 for 3 Magic booster-packs is also an alarmingly-alluring way to get rid of your disposable income. I don't have an elegant way to end this review. Just, um, be careful if you see shady people walking into the store with suitcases of probably-illegal-hallucinogenics. They're PROBABLY just there for the great prices...probably. read more

I have only played a few game days and prerelease there but even with all the traffic this place is well taken care of. Based off of my recent visits throughout various card shops in San Diego, I've decided to review this location called Gamezone with 1 star. *Location has contract with Konami, but prices are ridiculously high. It's understandable when locations retail prices, but not mark ridiculous prices that can be bought at other locations with cheaper prices. *Location's owner is very stubborn, and has favorites within his own location, while giving rude comments to other customers. Gives unfair and lower prices for cards that are about to be sold, that will profit thrice the amount instead of the usual half that average locations mark their prices when buying cards. Overall the location receives a 1 star for its outlandish ridiculous pricing, the lack of attending customers, and the wrong attitude the location's owner gives off to its loyal customers. read more

Came to this Store to buy my daughter some dungeons and dragons dice. A nice surprise in the sleepy town of Lemon Grove, that place like this still exists. The guy was really nice to help me out and was patient enough to show me all the dice that they had to offer. I even had my daughter on FaceTime so she could pick out the dice she wanted. The customer service and selection really earned their five stars. 10/10 I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for gaming and comic book / pop culture related stuff. I've been coming here for magic the gathering cards for the past 4 years, easily the best prices in all of San diego.

This place gives me nightmares. The owner of the store looks like he hates his job and how he treats his customer shows it. Forget the fact that they have an inconsistent schedule as to when they open and close but the store is always packed (honestly with weirdos) and smells like movie theater butter and old gym socks. I used to love going to this place to buy my stuff because its cheap but now I don't even look at it when I walk/drive by.
