I was required by DMV to get my 2009 BMW 328i smog-checked this year. I looked on the Internet and got Yelp reviews that seemed pretty positive on ALL-STAR, so I called, got a competitive price quote and told them I would come over within two hours. I pulled into the shop's driveway about an hour later and was immediately met by shop owner/operator Chris, who told me the job would be done in about 10 minutes. I went walking for 15 minutes and came back to find everything complete and paperwork ready. He had already transmitted my report to the CA DMV, and accepted my MasterCard for exactly the amount quoted on the phone. This spot is opened on weekends and best of all, gets you in and out within ten minutes. I brought in my 2001 BMW here to get smogged and recieved really friendly and helpful service. I had to come here twice because my car had issues the first time. The first time I came in he let me do a "pass or no pay" which was nice because my car failed. Usually, from other places I've seen they just offer a free "retest" which has to be done within 15 days or something. The pass or no pay helped out a lot because it took me THREE months to sort out my car, so there was no way I would have been able to have it ready for retest in 15 days. I was in and out in 15 minutes, the price was far better than the competition and Chris was personable even downright friendly. I HATE getting smog checks. I dread it. The owner, "Chris" made the process seamless and painless. I called a number of places a few days in advance to get prices. Chris honored his quoted price. Every other Star Smog Test Station tried to tack on an additional $10 because I have a Toyota truck. Come on!! It's a four-banger and there's no reason to add an additional $10. Chris was open to questions and didn't treat me like I was a nuisance. He was happy to help and share his knowledge with me. He's a one-man shop. I like that. My second time here! So far they have the best price and service in the area. Brought my car in last week for a smog check cause I needed to renew my registration. The first time I brought it in, the computer wasn't ready so I failed the test and had to drive the car around before bringing it back in. Chris ran a pre-scan at my second visit to make sure that the computer was ready and I passed. So yay! The retest is free, btw, just like most smog check stations.
