When I got here, no was was waiting in line so I was in and out in probably less than 10 minutes (with no appointment). Tony has been serving Long Beach for I believe it was over 18 years and his experience shows. I paid $50 for the smog check, and the certificate gets sent directly to the DMV without anything needed on my end (I also didn't understand the certificate portion, so he explained that to me). Very fast service. Although my car didn't pass the first time around, he was able to refer me to a reputable shop for repairs that were reasonable. I didn't have high hopes my car would pass because it's almost 40 years old. But once we got the new catalytic converter installed, the car passed with flying colors. I would definitely say this place is a great value since it's becoming more difficult to find shops that will test older cars that don't have OBD II. Drove into California Smog Lab without an appointment this morning. The lot was empty. Greeting Tony at the window I was helped right away. After some preliminary recording for the smog certificate (name, address, milage, etc.) I waited about 10 minutes before Tony passed my car and provided me the confirming paperwork. I needed an urgent Smig Check, and found this location. I walked in without an appointment and received such customer service. This is now my go to business for Smog. Price - very reasonable Location- on a busy street so if there is a wait you could easy drop your car off and head over to any if the local restaurants to grab a bite to eat. Tip - I did call ahead of time just to make sure someone was there. I don't think it's required but there's only 1person that works there (that I've seen) so I'd recommend just making sure before driving over. read more
