The photos attached were taken two days after leaving the salon. They show: * Inconsistent, uneven parts * Significant frizz throughout * Unraveling, split ends across multiple braids * Braids noticeably thicker than extra small, what was requested and paid for I feel embarrassed and taken advantage of. I'm embarrassed to even repeat how much I paid for this. When I raised my concerns, a redo was offered. I declined..the salon is over an hour away and would require another full day off of work for another 12+ hour install. I requested a partial refund instead. That was ignored, and I was eventually offered a discount on a future service. A discount is not a resolution, it's a tactic to get me back in the salon. The photos say everything I won't.

When I arrived, I showed them the inspiration pictures, and I was in the chair within 10 minutes. No long waiting around, no confusion very professional and organized. They washed my hair thoroughly before starting, which I really appreciated. A lot of places don't always include that. They also provide and sell hair extensions in-store, so it made everything convenient. I didn't have to stop anywhere else beforehand. As a West African woman, walking into an African-owned braiding salon just feels different. I felt right at home. Both of them speak French, which was such a nice touch for me since I speak some and understand it for the most part. It made the whole experience even more comfortable and familiar. The braids came out clean, neat, and exactly like the pictures I showed. You can tell they know what they're doing and have real experience with textured hair. If you're looking for skilled, efficient, and welcoming African braiders, I definitely recommend this place. I will be back.

I provided a photo of the style I wanted, which was taken from Ménage Lux's Instagram along with an inquiry of price and availability. By the end of the day, I scheduled my appointment and paid my deposit. The young lady I communicated with was responsive without much delay. My head has found its braiding home for the foreseeable future. I am so appreciative of Ménage Lux popping on my Instagram feed and for the young lady who did my hair. My hair is identical to the picture I presented and I could not be happier. Braiding hair was included in the price, I had to supply the hair for the curly look pieces. My style was performed by a single braider in about 6 1/2 hours. The address says 814 Post, which is a locked, black gate. 812 Post is the door entry into Ménage Lux. The commute was pretty easy. Coming from the east bay, I took Bart to Montgomery and rode the 38 to Leavenworth and Geary. From there it was a 3 minute walk to the shop. I popped into a cafe, one block up, since I arrived early I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would recommended Ménage Lux to anyone looking for great vibes, professional service and a style ready to take on the world! The shop itself is elongated. It has 3 waiting chairs, 5 service chairs and full length mirrors in front of each station. There is plenty of space between each station to place your personal items down and not feel on top of other clients. I L.O.V.E. my look!

The lack of clear communication and professionalism was really disappointing, and I wouldn't book again. Update in response to owners reply. List of clarifications for anyone reading: 1. I booked via text, so I didn't receive automated deposit instructions or deadline. These details were never texted to me in the exchange. 2. Deposit info came at 9 pm, 7 hrs after confirming my appointment, with 0 time frame to send it. 3. I had already confirmed my interest earlier that day. Assuming I wasn't interested without setting a clear deadline is not fair. 4. A simple "send deposit by X time or the slot will given to another customer" would have prevented this. 5. 1st come, 1st serve is fine, but clear communication should be the normal to all bookings, not just those made through the site.
