I recently reached out to this salon but, from what I gathered, is down to one stylist now--Hector. It seems the space isn't a fully staffed salon anymore, and the page hasn't been updated to reflect that. I was asked to send photos of my hair and then told that Hector is booked out for months. It would have been better to be upfront about that from the start instead of feeling like I was being screened as a new client. A friend of mine has seen Hector for years and recommended him, which is why I wanted to try. I literally kept saying wowowowow under my breath while getting ready to leave the salon. I was looking for not only a salon I love but a professional that understands my current hair type, color and future hair goals - Anna nailed it. I have thick, brown hair with a generous amount of white highlights which makes a root touch up a hassle when you don't have your go-to professional. It's been 6 years since I started getting my hair cut here. Several years of subpar hair dressers had dimmed my interest and expectations for hairstyling, and I was largely satisfied if I could simply go out looking passable. My hair is also annoyingly complex and thick enough to ignore the intention of the cut. I went to Studio 142 for the first time with low expectations and came out feeling brand new and it felt good for the first time in years. Couple of years roll by and around the time COVID lockdowns eased up a bit allowing some essential businesses to operate with restrictions I decided to tell Demitri during one appointment that I'd be okay trusting him to experiment with styles on my hair as he saw fit. I was kinda nervous with this leap of faith but looking back now I'm in awe of the skill and genius the man has. He changed my hair style with every cut - I've progressively gone from long curly hair to wavy to short cuts and a few other styles in between. I've never walked away feeling anything short of thrilled and I regularly receive compliments on the styles. My hair adventure continues! Over the years of being a customer here and from interacting with the staff, I can tell that the stylists at this salon are very gifted and passionate about their craft. I am so happy I found Tyler and Studio Estrada. I came in 1.5 years overdue for a cut and wanting some highlights for summer. I sent Tyler inspo pics before our appt of various long shag styles and some lighter pieces through the front with a bright money piece framing the face. Tyler is an artist and you can see him methodically work towards his vision. My battery runs down from chatting through long appts and he was really great at balancing fun conversation and periods of focus, which I really appreciate! I LOVE the finished product! Tyler asked for input and what I liked throughout coloring and the cut, and achieved the layered, everyday shag that I have always wanted! The color is beautiful and his balayage technique paid off with added natural looking dimension. He did a partial balayage of the front (with a few back foils added), root shadow, and toner. Love love love! I ended up needing to run to work, but he was great in being flexible, giving me a rough dry, and letting me come back the next day for touch ups and photos of his beautiful work. A plus: he takes great pics and makes fun content too! The money piece didn't quite have the pop we were going for (reference in pics) so he added a few foils and voila! Studio Estrada seems like it has a great team of stylists and I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful cuts others were working on. The price was definitely higher than I expected at $365 (not incl tip) but was very reasonable for the services provided, time spent, and skill. I should have discussed my budget ahead of time and asked about toner/root shadow cost, especially since it was over a year since I've been in a salon and first time getting my hair done in SF. Phew.. this review is kinda late, but better than never! Ofc, after being quarantined forever... everyone needed a haircut... everyone is I. I normally don't have a specific stylist or salon I go to but I've heard many great reviews about Studio Estrada so I decided to call for an appointment! My first appointment was only for a haircut with Anna and during the haircut appointment, we discussed potential dates and colors for my color appointment! First timer and yes, I AM A FAN! I was a little skeptical because trying a new hair salon can go either way and I just based off of yelp reviews #thankgod. The hairstylist I got was Anthony and he was super sweet, made me feel comfortable as I explained to him what kind of style I want. He gave me his feedback and input too. My hair turned out amazing!! I got a lob haircut and did something different. I'm glad Anthony went in that direction and I will definitely come back again. Also for first timers, you get 20% off on any hair products. When you schedule an appointment, you have to put down $25 deposit which will go towards your bill. After the next day you get your hair cut, you'll get a call from a receptionist asking how your experience was, which was really nice of them. Today, I had a BLUNT BOB CUT at this salon. Done by DEMITRI. It was my first time and didn't know what to expect, except for the best. Of course. Why so? The 5-star YELP rating this salon has in YELP has enticed me tremendously to come over (all the way from North Beach). The drive was long. It felt like it was never going to end! But I landed on the right address. And it was so worth the trip! I came this afternoon on a Friday, the 13th and the traffic was in progression. I was just glad, I arrived fifteen minutes prior to my appointment. Inside the salon, I just held my hands in good faith that all will turn out right. And it did, In fact, it was fabulous! My stylist was DEMITRI. He is a very skilled, creative and highly talented stylist. Added to that, he is quite convivial and a wonderful person to be around with. My time with him was so worth it. The great thing about DEMITRI is, he is a people person. And although it was just my first time with him, the connection with him was light and easy which made me to feel at ease all at once. I believe that it is imperative that you have this positive vibes with your stylist because he can make you beautiful and attractive, or worse, ugly and hideous as a clown. LOL! DEMITRI has his magic wand in his hands! My husband was with me all the time my hair was being cut. He was seated right across on my right, by the window. Near the end of my hair cut process, I had the chance to glance at him. He gave me a big nod and a beautiful smile of approval that simply said, "You look great, babe!" That non-verbal language he generated at that instance was enough to make me look at the mirror instantly and then, raved about it. "Wow. WOW! DEMITRI is super talented!" My on-going hair cut (BLUNT BOB CUT) at that time was really looking wonderful. And it is more so now that it is done! Back at the salon, I was deliriously happy and pleased. NOTE: I am "growing out my grey," so you'd see it there. Untouched in the photos. Anyhow, as I was leaving the salon, I could not help but verbalize my inner joy and satisfaction (as a first-time customer). And you bet, I will be coming here to see DEMITRI every three months. Too bad, I will be abroad for five months (and I won't be back till February 2020). However, I know it would be worth the wait. I just want to say, "THANK YOU again, DEMTRI! You made my day!"I so especially love the selfie time I had (and those moments with him taken at the salon). It's cool. They even have a spotlight for pictorial! I had to reschedule my appointment with Anna for a haircut a couple times due to COVID restrictions however was able to secure a haircut upon their reopening. Upon arriving to my appointment, my temperature was checked and I was given a robe & bag to put my belongings; there was plenty of hand sanitizer for use. Studio Estrada moved their operations outside to their outdoor patio and had their salon chairs spaced according to social distancing guidelines. The outdoor patio was shaded and despite today being one of the hottest days of the month, my experience was pretty comfortable. Anna is very personable and revived my grown out lob to something more stylish and low maintenance. Anna is super talented! I think I have found my new go to stylist. read more

This high-end salon has many trained professional stylists who take careful measure to ensure customer satisfaction. Initially, I was not too certain about what exactly I wanted to do with my hair except to chop off 13 inches. I had a couple of pictures on my phone so I showed them to my stylist Cesar (who was awesome btw). He was very helpful and asked many questions. The salon is IN SF!! Yes this is a big deal for me because I've been driving down to South Bay for years to get balayage and I haven't liked any of the salons I've tried in San Francisco. I messaged her right away and she basically gave me a consultation, price quote, and told me to book via the salon through email. Easy peasy My hair was grown out faded balayage so I wanted it to just be all even again to match my natural hair color so when it grew out, it wouldn't be so obvious and annoying. She knew exactly what I wanted, we looked at some pics, and she explained a bit what she was gonna do, and then went for it! We chatted a lot and Anna is so easy to talk to. She gave me some really good tips too about hair maintainance! She told me about their salon products but didn't overly push any onto me, which I appreciate. Also she curled my hair at the end and let me tell you those curls lasted 4 DAYS!! Still fresh and not looking greasy either. My curls never hold in my hair well so I was shooook. Highly recommend!
