This was the best experience I've ever had working with a contractor, and I've worked with some really excellent ones both in LA and the Bay Area, as well as some true scumbags who amounted to fraudsters (hence my anxiety surrounding this project and my meticulous due diligence). Eldar is honest, experienced, and so very kind. He knows what he's talking about, he explains the issues thoroughly, his solutions are logical, and his prices are reasonable. Women, especially, take note: he won't talk down to you, and he won't bullsh*t you or waste your time. He stays positive and friendly, even when new challenges like huge, invasive roots up against and under the foundation reveal themselves as the project progresses. He communicates clearly, sets realistic expectations, and provides comprehensive progress updates at the beginning and end of each day, and sometimes more if urgent matters come up. He listens to clients' needs and expectations, and is very good at working with anxious customers. His team is professional, punctual, super friendly, and incredibly hardworking. They went above and beyond every single day, kept the worksite clean and tidy, and ultimately left my yard much cleaner than it was when they started. So, to sum up my experience: These guys are fantastic. Don't wait. Don't hesitate. You'll be in great hands. Now, if you want all the dirty details of my cracked slab and water intrusion saga: I had several different foundation/structural companies come out (yes, even the usual suspects in sponsored search results) and look at my foundation over the past few years, and I got vastly different suggestions on what I should do to solve my problem, with a range of very high prices. I was overwhelmed because none of the solutions seemed right to me, and I was worried some would actually end up causing other problems down the road because they went overboard on foundation support, but didn't address drainage. After my first meeting with Eldar, it was clear to me his solution would be the most effective for my problem, which was 99% caused by a lack of drainage around my property. The rest of the problem was caused by a very shallow free-pour foundation on one side of the house (1950s construction), which Eldar and his team uncovered during the excavation process, and supported by making some very solid, high-quality footing extensions, which they waterproofed. Expansive clay soil and a slope behind my house also factored in. I had so much anxiety about hiring a contractor who would take the wrong approach along with all my money that I basically sat on this problem for four years. Bad idea, I know. I'll spare you the details of my insanity every time it rained, but let's just say lots of stress, dozens of shop towels and multiple Quick Dam flood barriers were involved. I was seriously losing my mind with every new crack in my slab and walls. Now that Eldar and his team are done installing deep french drains, waterproofing, footing extensions and a sump pump, I feel such a sense of relief. I'm confident that I'm going to survive this year's anticipated El Niño storms while maintaining my sanity, and I feel so lucky I found The Foundation & Drainage Repair when I did. I feel compelled to share our latest alarming experience with Anchorstrong. An employee, Joe Essy,…read morethreatened us via email, stating that he might file false reports against us unless we removed our honest Yelp reviews. He also suggested that he might leave negative reviews for a kind handyman we've worked with and file false reports against him, despite never having used his services. We also asked Joe to provide the permit he claimed to obtain for our project, as required by our contract. Several weeks have passed with no response, leading us to believe he never secured it. Rosie (Office Manager) and Steve (owner) were copied on our email, and we forwarded Joe's threatening email to them as well, but they have not responded. I also have serious concerns that Joe may have created multiple accounts to post fake reviews, including negative ones for others that reflect the threats he made in his email to us, as well as positive ones for his own business and employer. Yelp has removed several reviews based on these issues, and I have documented evidence to support my claims. Believe it or not, Joe has done more shady things, which we've documented. To keep this more concise, I'm highlighting just these examples but there are many more. In my opinion, Joe's behavior is not only beyond unprofessional but also seems unhinged to me. Who engages in such extreme, dishonest tactics against their customers simply because they left honest feedback? Providing feedback is our right as customers and a key purpose of Yelp. Multiple individuals who interacted with Joe raised serious concerns about his questionable honesty, erratic temperament, and disrespectful behavior. The emails I shared from Costco are just a few examples of this (see photos I posted in this review). Instead of simply addressing valid feedback, Joe resorts to intimidation tactics. His actions made me feel unsafe enough to install a security camera, especially since Joe said he lost the key to our front door. It's deeply disturbing that Joe has threatened to unfairly target us and this handyman--who has nothing to do with this situation and doesn't even know Joe--in what seems to be retaliation for our honest reviews. This handyman is genuinely kind, hardworking, and excellent at his job. He does not deserve this treatment at all. Since Joe mentioned he provides handyman services himself, Joe's threats also raise serious concerns about a conflict of interest. Based on our experience, it seems Joe is willing to go to very extreme lengths, including unethical tactics, to silence honest reviews, suggesting serious issues. His intimidating behavior has been completely unjustified and, in my opinion, it's shameful. Anchorstrong has failed to meet their contractual obligations, leaving us with substantial damages and financial losses, and refusing to refund us or work with us toward a fair resolution. After we paid them over $34K, we've faced intimidation, which we have proof of, instead of accountability. As paying customers, it's disheartening to experience such unethical treatment. If you work with them, be prepared for the same treatment. Also, ensure all permits are actually secured. I didn't want to write this update because this company isn't worth anyone's time, but their intimidation has led me to warn others and I hope it helps someone make a more informed decision. We've never encountered such appalling treatment from a vendor before. To Anchorstrong: We have every right to post honest reviews. Stop trying to intimidate us. While we've accepted that you won't provide the fair refund we are owed after taking our money, we simply want to be left alone--and for others to be left alone as well. The photos of Joe's shoddy work and the damages he caused speak for themselves. We face significant expenses to fix these issues, in addition to the $34K+ we already paid you and the other losses we incurred due to your failure to meet your contractual obligations. You have not reimbursed us, and we are left to cover these costs ourselves. Why threaten us? Haven't you done enough to us? We don't want to deal with you any further. Please leave us alone.

The crew removed a pure copper cap from my perapet wall and never returned it or replaced it. The tile guy worked at night by the light of his smartphone for God knows what reason. It appears that Will never measured the necessary space to park my car in its space of 20 years. My car now no longer fits in its space in my garage! Despite the house having been refitted a few years ago with all-copper pipe, Will's crew changed some bathroom piping with PVC plastic pipe without my prior knowledge or consent and later, when I pointed this out, Will responded that it was too late to fix it because the drywall and the tile would have to be removed. CXC also changed out some bathroom fixtures for ultra modern fixtures that we did not choose or approve for this century-old lovingly-curated home. Will even employed his own wife instead of a quality painting professional to finish interior painting on my classic 100-year-old Hollywood Hills home There were so many problems with this job, I'm too annoyed to type them all. Will loves to brag about what he claims are "great reviews" here and on other social media. Count me as feeling ripped off. My advice is: stay away from CXC at all costs! $250K and my garage still leaks. Is that what you want? Prove me wrong.
