He…read morerequested $5,000 upfront for "supplies" and said the rest would be due in installments once work began. After reviewing the design, we decided we needed more time before moving forward. When we decided not to move forward with his design, Matt stated he used all our money for "supplies" and that he would have to "sell back" the supplies in order to be able to afford to pay us back. No supplies were ever delivered to our house, and despite repeated requests, he has never produced receipts proving he purchased anything. When asked, he stated he was "unorganized and would have to search for them." Matt admitted in writing that he owed us the $5,000 back and would repay us to make things right. Over the past two years, we've had to repeatedly follow up with him, and he has only repaid $3,000. We are still owed $2,000. Matt avoids communication for months at a time and only responds when we threaten to escalate or if I contact him from another number. The excuses never end -- phone shut off, injuries, losing his crew -- and during these times we have been incredibly kind and patient with him. The fact remains: two years later, he still hasn't made things right, and we now feel taken advantage of. I still don't truly know where our $5,000 went. This has been a frustrating and exhausting experience, and I share this review so others know what to expect. Be extremely cautious before doing business with YardEscape LLC or Matt Gordon, and please make sure to get everything in writing.

We have hired Ivan and his team for two projects on at our home…read more In 2019, we had an overgrown tree that had a limb blow down in a storm. We had hired him to trim the tree later in the week, but after the windstorm he re-arranged his schedule to pull us forward earlier in the week. We really appreciated this because the tree was dangerous to our home and our neighbors. They did an amazing job on our tree, and I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of that project. In 2020, we were written up by our HOA for overgrown aloe plants. I called several companies for quotes, and I decided to go with Landscape Guy when his quote was competitive with the other offers. He did us a solid favor the year earlier with the tree, and I trusted his work. We agreed on a day for the plant removal, and his team arrived in the morning. They were courteous and very thorough. In addition to removing the aloe plants, they also blew the front yard and carted off all the debris in our yard beyond the plants that they removed. They exceeded our expectations because we weren't expecting them to clean the seed, leaves and pods that had dropped from our neighbors tree onto our property. Regardless, once again they exceeded our expectations, and we'll be reaching out to them for a third possible project.

Two weeks ago, I move into my new house in the PebbleCreek 55+ community in Goodyear, AZ. I used a…read morelandscaper (a big company with operations in at least one other state) recommended by the developer. They completed the job on time and the quality was good. My concern was that I felt the result was very different from what I hoped. I was disappointed. I hoped to have one of the nicest properties in the community, and instead I felt a little embarrassed. This is my fault, but I was out of the country for a couple of months while the company was doing the install, and I was too busy to give the project the careful thought that it required. After being in the house for one week, I decided that I was unhappy enough to be feel bad instead of happy about my new front and back yards. I decided to find another landscaper to totally redo the landscaping. I had seen the Desert Sage Landscaping truck several times over the past few months working on nicely landscaped properties (I rented a house in the community for 8 moths while they built my house). I liked what I saw. I talked with one of the guys and he took me to the owner, Miguel. I liked having the owner actively maintaining landscapes because that gave me confidence that he had a lot of practical, on the job experience with plants in our desert environment. I showed him my front and back yards and told him what I wanted done. I asked him about many plants that I liked and he told me what was good and what was bad. He was speaking from experience in maintaining so many properties. He gave me a plan within 24 hours and began a couple of days later. He and his crew spent about a week replacing the walkways and plants, and adding boulders, hills, irrigation, lights and many plants. The price was reasonable and the result is excellent. The bad--Apparently the usual scenario--Initially they promise you the moon but fall far short. Numerous promises to show up were broken. He brought the wrong bushes and the artificial turf he installed had two obvious seams. The irrigation timer he installed and set himself failed The trees suffered and looked dead. The bushes looked frozen in time except for 1 of the 8 that stayed green. Of course he said it was my fault the timer failed. After numerous additional promises to replace the sorry looking trees and bushes his guys finally showed up. They spent two hours fixing the timer. Of course Hector magnanimously offered to waive his usual fee for the two hours. Never again.

I got lots of quotes and had 5 6 or so companies come out to provide estimates for the scope of work. Jason, owner of The Hardworkers, was the last estimate I got,. We initially had concrete in mind, but Jason let us know he got of out concrete and primarily does pavers, as they look better and are stronger. We honestly just assumed pavers would be out of our price range, but opted to get a quote to remove a few sections of our walkway to add the driveway, raise the wall and then a quote to pave around our shed. Though the quote may not have been the cheapest, we also added a project and the over value and product could not be beat. I also truly believe you get what you pay for and Jason and his team do awesome work. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the quality, attention to details and efficiency his team provides. Not to mention were well in range of some of the basic concrete other companies were going to provide, It took about four days from start to finish. We will definitely be calling his them again for any future projects and highly recommend for any projects you are looking to get done!
