The Mira Mesa area has several different AYCE Asian restaurants and I've tried them all. Is place is in my top 3 for sure. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon right before 5pm. I was a little worried because we parked and there were no cars in the parking lot...walked in and we were immediately seated in a completely empty dining room. Normally a bad sign. But the reality is, other than the weekends, this place normally doesn't pick up until the evening. If you go early on a weekday, you can expect less of a crowd. Restaurant is pretty new. It was previously a Soup Plantation, for size comparison. Great spot for a large group. And the staff is fantastic. Very attentive throughout our experience. Now the food! Unlike other Shabu places, everyone gets their own hot pot to cook from. The pot is a single pot, there is no split pot, but you can combine different broths. The meat selection is pretty good. For the 2 of us, we were allowed 3 selections at a time. Cost was average compared to other AYCE, you can expect about $35-40 per person for dinner. Overall, nice spot. We went to All That Shabu for a joint graduation celebration & birthday party. There were about 40 people &, while they don't have a closed off room, they were able to section us off into a particular area where we felt like there was enough privacy. The servers were very quick, efficient, & helpful. Not only did they promptly refill the soup/broth & clear empty plates, but they also provided us with dishware at the end of the night when it was time to do the cake. The meat options are really good, the place is clean, & you know we took advantage of soft serve for dessert! We even had a couple of vegetarians who got stuffed off of all the delicious veggie options. I would definitely go back to either host a dinner, or just go when I'm feeling in the mood for this type of cuisine. read more

The place is huge, clean, modern, and has friendly service. They were on top of it, coming by to see if we wanted more meat. Plentiful parking too. The food was good overall. My family of 4 each got the beef broth; it was pretty bland so those seeking more flavor might want to opt for an alternative. The individual pots are shallow, like other reviewers have noted. This makes it harder to cook items like corn on the cob pieces that are too big to be fully submerged in the broth. They didn't have slotted spoons, making it challenging to scoop out some items. On the hot bar they had bulgogi, japchae noodles, some dumplings, and more. The Napa cabbage was fresh, and the had multiple types of mushrooms and noodles. Meats were very tasty. While they don't have shaved ice, they have soft serve which had good texture and flavor. Value for the money was competitive with other local area shabu shabu spots. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it wasn't so good. The biggest issue was the AYCE ordering system. You're limited to only 3 plates of meat at a time, and the meat was sliced so thin that one plate was only a few bites. Combined with the slow service, it made the experience frustrating. It looked like there was only one server for the huge dining room, so every time we wanted more meat, we had to flag him down and wait. By the time the next round arrived, you almost got full from waiting. The broths were also pretty bland. Everyone in our group tried different broths, and some of us even mixed them together, but none of them had much flavor. For mine, I mixed the beef bone and sukiyaki broths. On the plus side, drinks are included with the AYCE pricing, the restaurant is huge, and the ice cream was actually the best part of the meal. They had a selection of hot food items like japchae noodles, chicken, bulgogi beef, etc... although I didn't try any of them. Overall, I'd give it 2.5 stars. The thin meat portions, ordering limits, slow service, and bland broth made this a place I probably won't be returning to anytime soon. read more

I'm always excited for shabu shabu and was excited to try this place. This is an all you can eat shabu spot in Mira Mesa. The restaurant is very spacious. You select your broth, meats, and help yourself to the bar. I selected the beef bone and my partner got the sukiyaki. The broths were good but the sukiyaki had a ton more flavor and overpowered the bone broth. For the meats we got Angus beef brisket, beef short plate, and angus flat iron steak. You can only order items at a time as a table. The meats were thinly sliced and cooked very fast. As far as the self serve bar, there are seafood, noodles, and a bunch of veggies. My new favorite shabu shabu spot! We came at prime lunch time (12pm) and there was no wait. The restaurant looks super spacious and has a lot of seating with good ventilation. All the meats we tried were so delicious! The quality is definitely there, and they provide thinner cuts of meat than other spots, which I personally enjoy with the quicker cook time and more delicate taste. Their hot food and vegetable sections were also super clean and well organized. Throughout our meal, our server dropped by our table frequently to check in our meal and see if we wanted to place additional orders. They do cap 3 plates of meat each round, but you have unlimited rounds and quick service so it was not an issue. So glad this spot opened up! Will definitely be coming back. read more

I was in Mira Mesa at H Mart and when I came out of the store these ladies were handing out coupons for the new restaurant All That Shabu. So we all decided to go on New Year's day. We sat down and they brought the broth and meat to us. For everything else we went to the bar. I loved the fact that they had a great selection of food. They are probably the only hot pot location that has crab. I loved everything, but felt the sauces had too much sweetness too them. Next time I will create a different mix. read more

First time here for girls outing and was pleasantly surprised with how spacious it was, their service, and the food/bar offerings for the individual Shabu experience. I love how there were two sides for everything to keep people from waiting on the same thing. The meats were delicious. We tried all and our faves was 1,4,5 - beef brisket, chuck eye, and pork belly. They came out fast and fresh (not frozen) The only thing I think can improve is the broth umami. It was lacking flavor, but we saved it by added our own seasoning. My family and I came here for dinner and had quite a feast! This is a Korean all you can eat hot pot. You pay one price and eat as much as you want for 90 minutes, drinks and dessert desserts included. They had a nice selection of meats. My personal favorites were numbers 2 and 10. At the buffet counter, there was one section dedicated to hot cooked food. The selections were a bit limited compared to their Irvine location, but it was still relatively good. I love the huge selection of fresh vegetables, seafood, noodles, etc. I like how each person has their own pot and not have to share. My choice of broth was the spicy beef broth. I didn't think it was spicy at all though. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the spiciest, I would say it was a 2 at most. There was only a slight hint of spicy flavor. We had really great service. The wait staff visited our table often and made sure we always had enough meat. I can see our family making this restaurant a regular place to eat. What's so great about this restaurant is that you don't leave smelling like hot pot. During the cold winter months, who doesn't love some warm shabu shabu? This is a AYCE shabu restaurant that took over the old Souplantation location in Mira Mesa. Its a Korean shabu restaurant so a lot of the side dishes are Korean inspired. It's very spacious inside and can hold around 200 people. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. At the table, each person gets their own pot but you only get one flavor. The menu includes various soup bases, meat cuts, an assortment of vegetables, noodles, seafoods, appetizers (Korean rice cake, japchae, sesame balls, and fried chicken), self serve ice cream, unlimited soft drinks, and side sauces/kimchee. I appreciated all the workers were hustling and doing their best to serve all the customers as fast as they could while being friendly and professional. All the food was tasty and fresh. Just a few things they can work on to make it a 5 star experience: - they need an online reservation system. When you get there, they use the old school pencil on a paper system. - they need to be better about refilling the food and drinks. We were there during peak dinner time (630-8pm) and a lot of item were low and specialty teas were out but not being replenished. - wish they cut the meat slices a little thicker. Came to this place on a week night, it was pretty empty, but i think it used to be a Soup plantation so it HUGE, i mean HUGE! I don't think they could fill the place if they tried! I liked that you had your own burner so theres no fear cross contamination if you're a germaphobe. I also liked that the control for the burner was on the table top so you could turn it up or down on your own It's all you can eat weekdays from 11:30 - 3 $28.99 and weeknights, weekends and holidays $37.99 which isn't too bad considering it's AYCE. You can choose from the following sauces Original, Miso, Vegetarian, Beef Bone, Spicy Beef, and sukiyaki. We tried all 11 meat selections (4 of them only avaliable when you pay the full price $37.99.) the selections were 1. Prime angus brisket, 2.Short Plate (beef belly), 3. Prime Flat iron steak, 4. Prime angus chuck eye, 5. Pork belly, 6.pork butt, 7. Free range chicken. The 4 extra meats offered at dinner and weekends are 8. Fillet Mignon, 9.Rib Eye, 10.Angus chuck flap, and 11.lamb shoulder. I chose the spicy beef broth, i didnt find it very spicy, and as usual i added a bunch of garlic and chili sauce to spice it up. My favorite meats were 1.angus beef brisket, 2. Short Plate, 9.Rib eye, and the 10. Chuck flap. The servers know the meats by the numbers, so it's easier if you order by the number on the menu. I liked all the pork selections. The Lamb was a bit too gamey for me. Both the flat iron steak and the fillet were not fatty enough for me. There were a lot of veggies, seafood and appetizers to choose from. There's a definite Korean influence in the Kim chee, jap Che, bulgogi, and spicy rice cakes. I really liked the jap che, and fried gyoza. The steamed gyoza that you put into the hot pot wasn't as good, same product but the crispy fried texture adds a lot. The veggies were fresh and i liked the variety. I also liked that there were many different types of noodles. As always i eat the noodles last after the broth is flavored from cooking all the stuff thru the night. i chose the fresh ramen noodles which was a nice way to finish out the hot pot portion of the meal. There was a soft serve as well as soft drinks and tea which was a nice way to end on a sweet note. Over all i liked the selection. Service was attentive and friendly, they came around often and asked if we wanted more meats. You are allowed 3 selections at a time, there is a 90 minute time limit and $5 will be charged if there is an excessive amount of left over food. The place is huge! First time here. We watched as The Soup Plantation was converted to All That Shabu. We were the first cut this Monday and were greeted and seated immediately. The server described the broth option and asked my wife is she wanted the sukiyaki broth. She said yes and selected it. I chose the Miso. My wife selected 3 meat trays, while I selected a variety of seafood from the self serve section. All the food was delicious and worth the price. The ambiance was modern and friendly. There has been a switcheroo on this block of Mira Mesa Blvd with the closing of a hot pot restaurant on the north side of the street while All That Shabu recently opened on the south side. It took over a long vacant structure where a soup and salad buffet restaurant used to reside. The inside was massive with sufficient seating for at least 200 customers. I don't know if they will ever completely fill the dining area. The menu sheet was as small and simple as I have seen for an AYCE hot pot place. The adult price was $28.99 for adults during weekday lunch and then $37.99 for all other times. Children were priced based on their height. All soft drinks and sauces were included in the price. The time limit for a dining session was 90 minutes, and a five dollar surcharge would be added for excessive wasted food. The style was individual pots for each diner so there was a burner at each setting. SIx different broths were available, and I chose the Beef Bone variety which was non-spicy. Eleven types of meat were offered, however each table could only select three at a time. The two of us ordered four rounds of three meats each to complete the entire set of eleven with one duplicate included. The portion size of each meat slice was as thin and light as I have seen. That allowed for a quicker cooking time, but it also left us less satiated. We made multiple trips to the buffet and beverage stations to get drinks and various raw and cooked items. I particularly like the japchae because the cooked glass noodles had a strong peppery flavor. The tofu skin was also nice because they placed several pieces on a skewer. Other than that, the remaining raw seafood and vegetables were ordinary. The items available at the condiments bar weren't as diverse as I have seen elsewhere. Noticeably absent were dry spices and seasonings. The Lamb Shoulder, Pork Belly and Signature Beef Ribeye were my favorite meats. The last one was the meat that we ordered twice because of the marbling in the cut. The time it took for each round to arrive at our table was not long so that was positive. For the price and quality of the items at All That Shabu, I thought it was a fairly average AYCE dining experience, hence the three star rating. read more

All That Shabu opened fairly recently in SD and we tried it early on! This location used to be Souplantation, so the restaurant is huge. We made a reservation because we had a big group and we were seated right away. They have individual pots which is probably my favorite thing about this place! I got the bone broth which I really enjoyed, but my friends got their house broth or something and felt like it was really bland. Outside of that, the meats are good, the self serve bar is filled with so many options, and includes drinks and ice cream. Don't let the IG videos lie to you. It looks great but in reality, it's ok. The meats are cut very thin (see pics) and they do not have a buzzer so you have to get the waiter's attention. They are also committed to their time limit. It is nice that the seafood, vegetables and cooked options like fried chicken, fried rice, etc are self serve but if you are looking for quality beef/meats, this is not the place. The soda machine served Pepsi products and they have soft serve as the free dessert. The restaurant is new and spacious. I like that everyone gets individual pots but it would be nice if we had an option to get more than one broth flavor. You could if you don't mind them refilling your original flavor with another flavor. Like I ordered the spicy broth and could've had them refill it with their classic broth. Came here on a Friday for a late dinner with a party of 3. There was a bit of a wait but it wasn't too long. This used to be a Souplantation (RIP ) so it's pretty spacious inside with tons of seating. I ordered the sukiyaki broth, which I thought was pretty tasty. They did mention the spicy beef is their most popular broth. We ordered a range of meats. The cuts were pretty small and also thin, so if you put one piece in your broth it almost disappears. You kind of have to grab three pieces at once. There are lots of options at the self serve area, including tons of veggies, tofu, kimchi, seafood, noodles, fish balls, etc. There's a hot foods section but they were all empty when we looked. The sauce bar is pretty standard, not a ton of extras to add to your sauces. There is a rice cooker, drink machine and an ice cream machine in the self serve area as well. Service was good. They were pretty quick with bringing out our meats and refilling our broths. Overall I had a good first time here. I think they just need to improve on how they cut their meat. Went here for lunch on a weekday and it was a positive experience overall. The staff were nice and professional and the seafood and veggie bar had so many options. I got the spicy beef broth and to be honest it wasn't spicy at all. It had good flavor but it didn't have that spice I like with my hot pot. The sauce bar was decent. It had the essentials like garlic, green onion, ect. They didn't have regular soy sauce which was unusual. They have ponzu and wasabi ponzu. Not bad but it was a little too sweet for my taste. I finally got around to trying this shabu spot out and thought it was pretty standard. My favorite part of it was definitely the sukiyaki broth, it was more drinkable compared to other sukiyaki broths I've tried. Spicy beef broth was the 2nd most popular one. You can also ask to sample the broth! I like how there's a good selection of appetizers, sauce, veggies. What could've been better was the service. I think the waitress took forever to come to us to take meat orders, and wasn't really attentive at checking if we need broth refills. read more

Came here for lunch and it was not busy at all. They had everyone sitting in section towards the front and the rest of the place was empty. Super clean, even the bathroom looked brand new. Huge selection of hot food items to eat, lots of veggies and seafood items to choose from. For the most part, service was really good. The first hour everything was going great, towards the last 30 minutes, the servers were gone. Our broths weren't refilled, we had to track down people to order more meats. You only get 90 minutes. Overall, we did have a great time, love the individual hot pot idea, but the last 20 minutes kind of killed it for us. A nice new shabu place in the heart of Mira Mesa, in the same area as Target and Raising Cane's, taking over the old Souplantation building! I had a nice AYCE experience here. They have a selection of 6 different soups, and we chose miso and spicy beef, but the spicy beef wasn't too spicy, maybe a 6/10 spice level. The service was great, our server was very kind and offered to add more broth if our soup was too spicy. They have a smaller meat selection, and it seemed like their portions are on the smaller side as well, so I felt like I ate it all really fast as soon as we got them. I do enjoy their buffet bar though, they have TONS of hot dishes and veggies! This was a nice place for shabu, a very clean and pretty large space. Our party of 7 came here for dinner to celebrate my dad's bday. It was on New Year's Day and it was not that busy. We did however had rsvp so we were seated right away. Our first order of meat was ordered and came quickly. The next order was pulling teeth to get someone to place it. Took 30 minutes. This needs to be fix. We had to also ask for our broth refilled.no bueno. Service was subpar. The buffet was a huge assortment of seafood and veggies. The crab was very mushy..bad crab?? There was no tofu..strange. Ice cream machine was down at the end of dinner..BOOOO We all had stomach aches after dinner. Not sure if this was a sanitary issue or the bad crab. Definitely will not be back. read more

First time at All That Shabu and we had a great experience. When I mentioned it was our first visit, our server took the time to thoroughly explain how everything works, which I really appreciated. She also gave helpful suggestions for both my kids and me. The two Korean ladies who helped us were especially wonderful--kind, sweet, and incredibly fast with service. They were very attentive and made sure we always had what we needed, so we never had to wait long to order more meat. Everything was very clean and the banchan was surprisingly delicious. My kids absolutely loved the ice cream at the end. Overall, great service, clean environment, and a fun dining experience. We'll definitely be back! read more

I decided to give them another try. Same super thin and tiny cuts of meat. I decided to bring my mom to let her try it out and she concluded the same. They did finally add the drinks to the extra dispenser but unfortunately they were all unsweetened drinks with no syrup to make them sweet. Their ice cream machine with 3 alleged types of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate and swirl) all dispensed vanilla. It's only been a month since they opened and unfortunately it just isn't for me. Service required you to flag them down to refill soup bases or order meat but that's pretty on bar with Asian eateries. We didn't get bad service, we just didn't get proactive service. read more

Pros first: Amazing service this area. We all know how hard it is to find a place that has genuinely great friendly service. We had this the moment we stepped in the door. Large size restaurant. Layout is big, which is expected since they basically took over the old Souplantation. A lot of tables, for large and small parties. Ample parking. No fighting for a spot like in other San Diego areas. It's getting overly crowded so when you can have a pleasant start to the outing, it's always nice. Individual pots. Although they are very small and shallow, I still appreciate individual pots to control what I like, in my own soup, tempurate and flavor. Not cons, but ok: Self service area is just ok. It make look big in photos but it's not. The food is just duplicated on both sides. Selection is actually on the lesser side. I did appreciate that they had quail eggs ;). Banchan is ok, there were 4 pickled sides. Cons: Hot goods were EXTREMELY salty. Like they accidentally poured in the salt, and the lid fell off salty. So salty your tongue and stomach churned. I got their japchae and spat it out but was worried about their $5 charge for 'wasting' food but literally no one at the table could eat it! Fried crab was salty too, not as bad but still very salty. Meats are thin and small orders. Others commented on same thing and I see why. Very small plates and the meats are very thin. I like the thin slices, but the order was very small for an entire table. An order was barely enough for 1 person and it was a limited number of plates per table at a time. Broth was not flavorful or strong. I felt like it was lightly flavored and after adding just a few items, 1) broth was gone and I had to get a refill 2) the flavor was of whatever I cooked, not the original spicy beef. It wasn't even spicy. Very little sauce options. Sad actually. Menu is small for price. This is the biggest con. Overall, the price is not worth it. We are going to stick to our other Shabu up the hill. read more

Definitely come early if you don't want to wait! I took my parents here when they came to visit on what happened to be a weekend for dinner and the wait was around 30 min. They have an old school waitlist system where you write your name on a notebook at the counter then need to stay inside to wait and listen for them to call your name, I saw that some people were waiting outside but the staff were not going outside to notify so a few parties missed their table the first time around, thankfully the staff would repeat names that did not show up at the first call instead of crossing them out so eventually someone in the parties outside would come in to check and realize and they would still be able to be seated! The place is very spacious and open with plenty of seating but it can definitely get PACKED during peak times! The layout was p typical for AYCE shabu places with the stovetops built in to the table and controllable for each seat and the open area self service seafood/salad/drink/appetizer bar. Would definitely recommend the spicy beef broth since the other ones are so mild this one helps add the most flavor! I got the bone broth but my family got the spicy beef and it was definitely tastier and not too spicy imo! Sukiyaki would probably have more flavor too if you're into that teriyaki flavor! The ribeye was my favorite from the meat options but I was surprised to see that they offer a filet mignon and Wagyu style option (too fatty for me but great bang for your buck if you're into it!) I thought that the seafood/salad bar had a p good variety in the selection but my family was a little disappointed since their consensus was that they prefer the Irvine location since it has more variety at the self service area and that this location was missing a few things that the other one offers! There's even a dessert offered in the form of chocolate/vanilla ice cream and red bean sesame balls! Service was slow at times but they were pretty busy given that we came for dinner on a weekend so it made sense, it was a little strange since sometimes the meat would come within 5 min after we ordered and other times it seemed like we were waiting for 15 min; if it's busy I would recommend to order the max amount you can whenever a server comes by at least at the beginning so that you're not left waiting too long then gauge as you eat how much you should continue to order! Overall I would come here again but maybe try to avoid a peak day/time to avoid having to wait! Eating feels more hygienic. The food bar was well maintained, food trays were always refilled and counters were constantly cleaned. there are options for hot food (fried rice, popcorn chicken, seasoned popcorn chicken, japchae, fried dumplings, bulgogi, sesame balls, etc.) the selection for your hot pot was also extensive. there's veggies, mushroom, fish cakes, fish balls, quail egg & so much more! For your choice of meat, you're allowed to order 3 different meat at a time. I got the angus beef brisket, wagyu beef short place & angus flat iron steak. The meat quality is great & they refill pretty fast when they see your meat trays empty. They have a sauce station which offers various sauce flavors. This is located at the shopping center where Target is. I love that there's plenty of parking in this area. We were seated right away when we arrived. AYCE dinner price is $37.99. They only have 7 selections of meats. But if you saw the salad bar, you almost dont need any meat. The salad bar has all the veggies you can put in your soup. The bar also had seafood such as shrimp, crabs, baby octopus, crawfish, and many more. They, also, had different selections of noodles, fish cakes and fish balls. Another section had kimchi, japchae, tteokbokki, etc. then they had the sauce section. For dessert the had soft serve ice cream. The place is big. There's a lot of space for big parties. read more

All That Shabu has finally opened! Definitely one of best spots if you are craving hot pot. The place was HUGE and the layout was amazing. Everything is included (seafood, hot items, drinks, veggies, etc). Broth wise, I really liked the spicy beef. Loved the hot items as well. Service was good, but it felt like the the check up on meat order and if anything was needed was really slow. There's a 90 minute time limit, and a limit of 3 meat orders per party. read more

Finally got to try out their San Diego location and was pleasantly surprised by how the made use of the space. This used to be a Souplantation and hasn't had many tenants since they closed down. A sense of nostalgia accompanies the food as they fill the open space with banquet-style tables, making it easy for bigger parties to congregate. "Family-style" is the word that comes to mind. The food is hard to miss and their meat selection is simple, but has all the heavy hitters like the filet mignon and ribeye. Can't beat the price for what they're offering. Definitely wouldn't mind coming during the lunch time since I'm okay with regular cuts of meat, and I think their salad/cold food bar stays the same. read more

My son and I came with a some friends for a late lunch on a Saturday. We were seated quickly. There were probably only 5 other tables seated in the restaurant. The good: there are plenty if broth options, definitely something for everyone. The spicy bone beef broth was very flavorful. The veggies were nicely cleaned and seemed fresh. While they offer Pepsi products they have fresh tea options as well. I appreciate the individual hot pots so everyone's broth can be made to their liking. There is a good variety of sauces at the sauce bar. The bad: we were sat in a corner and were not checked in with frequently. The portions of meat are very tiny, especially for 4 people and only being able to get 3 plates of meat at a time. They do not refill broth without you asking and since no one would come check on us, one person's in our group burned. My son had hair in his broth. The hot food table had no heat. All the food was cold, not even room temp. They did finally turn it on before we left. I had already planned a dinner for my son's birthday in a few weeks, so we will be back and see if it's any better on the next visit. read more

Its our first time to this place and I loved it. I liked how everyone get their own pot and the varieties in the salad bar. The veggies were fresh. The varieties of sauces and drinks made it even better. The meat selections were cut so thin but I dont mind cause they cook faster. I'd definitely come back again. Great shabu place.
