I hate giving bad reviews, but I have to speak out about this place. It's a toy store, but it's not at all kid friendly. If your children try to check out the toys on display, the staff (I'm thinking it's probably the owner) steps in and chews the parents out. And when I say "check out," I mean gently pick up and look at. They are downright hawkish, and they snap if a child so much as touches anything that's not in their back room play area. If you do decide to check out the fair selection of wood toys, don't bring your children! read more

This is definitely a get what you pay for type of place. Yes, the toys are expensive, but they are going to last. How many of us buy battery operated toys only to breathe a sigh of relief when they die, never to be replaced again? Not only that, but the kids rarely play with them after the first few days. I prefer natural wooden toys for several reasons: they are less annoying, they get the kids to use their imaginations, wood is more durable, better for the environment than plastic toys, safer due to recalls, and kids just seem like them better. I wish I could afford to throw out all my kids crap toys and replace them with many of the things in this store. The play area is very affordable and my kids could have stayed there all day. It definitely helped to know what they played with the most so I know what to put on their gift lists. I also got a pure rubber teether there for my son and it's the only infant teether he will use, and I have tried dozens. read more

My kids are older but my middle child has Autism and loves books and toys still at 17! Well so do I for that matter, so we have that in common. I have been to many countries and I always seek out the local toy stores. All Things Kids is right on par with European toy stores with the quality and diversity of their toys. Anyone can go to a big box store and get a plastic piece of junk. This store ignites imagination and play in all ages and is my first stop when looking for a great gift or even just a big smile from the staff. Wonderful store! Excellent toy store with a play area in the back. Can't wait to do the drop in child care when my kid is older on Saturday nights. Lana is such a wonderful person and my kid loves seeing her. Wonderful little shop on the square full of toys that will not rot your kids' brains. Owner Christian helped me find a cute little hand-made teddy bear that smells like lavender and can be heated or cooled before giving to the child (my nephew in this case). I will definitely be returning here for for my future child gift-giving needs. read more

Love this place! The location is great, right in the square, and there are lots of classic toys from cloth and wood. There isn't a huge selection for older kids though, so that's a bit of a down side. There are all kinds of activities that All Things Kids holds for the family. I haven't been to one of the activities, but it looks like its lots of fun. read more

Love the unique toys and other treasures they have to offer. I always enjoy bring my child here. The staff is very friendly and they fit in with Georgetown's family atomsphere. I've met the owner a few times and he was very welcoming. Some of the toys are a bit pricey, but they aren't things you would find at a Walmart. read more

I live in Georgetown and have two small children. We've been to All Things Kids a total of five times, and each visit was a disappointment. The owner is quite hostile to children. On one visit, my one year old son simply pushed the handicap button by the door. I was, of course, doing my parental duty and telling him not to push it until we were ready to leave. The owner, even with me telling my son this, lectured us both about not touching the button. On another visit, my son simply held a small wooden car that was on display--right out in the open on the bottom shelf-- and as I was helping him put it back, the owner lectured us about not touching any of the merchandise. He told us that there was an area where the children could play in the back. As my children were walking back to that area, the owner physically blocked their way to the entrance and barked at them, "You must take your shoes off!" I had no problem with that rule, but his manners were so hostile that I told my children that we were going to have to go. He noticed that I was upset and said to me, "You are mad now." He then said, "I am just trying to protect my merchandise." I felt embarrassed for simply being there. He was rude and hostile, and acted as if his toy store was a jewelry store or something. He has many toys on display on low shelves, all over the store, and if your children so much as touch them he flips out. My kids were in no way threatening his merchandise, and his attitude was so belligerent towards them and me that I know I will never go in there again. How can you run a toy store and be so hostile to small children? This is too bad, because they do carry some neat toys. Beware the owner, though. read more

First, this place is amazing. Why not 5 stars? Simply because yesterday when we went in my husband, who paid for a large group of people to try out their new ice cream, asked for German chocolate was told by a young girl that they were out. A young man said we have it downstairs. This young lady said "and?". The young man said "I'll go and get it!" I hope this young man keeps his job a long time because he simply did a good job and did not mind a little inconvience. It was very slow but it was about 5ish and the people who would have been helping were talking about how they started the ice cream area and mentioned the people involved (This won't be a weekly thing). We love this place, our children love it, and the people we took who were not from the area loved it.... Young lady- if you are out of ice cream- go get it and dont act irritated with your co-worker.. very unprofessional on her part.... everyone else.. AMAZING read more
