I had a multitude of issues going on with my boosted 2013 Dodge Challenger, and Mike and his team were kind enough to help me out with my transmission. Even though my car has a lot of custom performance parts and it has been tuned, they did not turn me away. They swapped my transmission and were patient with me while I worked through some other issues. Several months passed and I eventually got my other problems sorted out but Mike waited until everything was sorted and they could test my transmission again before he asked me to pay my balance for the transmission and work. It's refreshing to find a mechanics shop that does what they say and charges a fair price for the work they perform. The owner(Mike) i s always friendly and professional. I've used these guys several times now and most recently they did work on my Nissan Xterra at a third of the price quoted by the Nissan dealer. They also got me in and out in half a day. Interestingly enough, a few years ago I took my Explorer by there to pick up another car, and I mentioned to the owner that the a/c clutch clicked a lot, and that the a/c wasn't very cool. I wondered about the compressor itself for some reason, and we both reached over and turned it, and he pronounced that it needed to be replaced. Well, fast forward 4 years to now, and I looked the clicking up, and it was low on freon. I hooked up my a/c gauges and filled it with freon, and it's been just fine for weeks now. Now, he's an a/c guy, and for darned sure knows that frequent clicking on this particular car means low freon, just as I do after the most cursory search on the Internet. And the idea that the compressor needed to be replaced begins to sound like a classic ploy to divorce me from more of my money. So I don't know what to say here, but I think I'm going to have to get back to doing all of my car repairs myself. read more

Oxymorons exist. Like sympathetic politician. Smart government. Guilt-free dessert. Fun exercise. Or, trustworthy mechanic. Well, in this case, the last is not a good example. It's not an oxymoron, but a fact. My hubby went on a fishing trip down near the Border last weekend(coyote country, NOT the four-legged kind). A place where you pack a pistol "just in case". The Devil's River. All went well there, but the day he got back, the transmission went out on his truck. Instead of cursing our luck, I was thinking "Thank God this happened here and not there." Hubby had heard that these guys were good with a tranny, so we checked the Silver Bullet in to them on a Monday nite. Within a day they had checked it all out, not just the tranny, but the entire truck. They gave us a couple of options and reasonable quotes for either a rebuilt tranny or a used one (but really who wants a used tranny?). By Friday, hubby had a working tranny under the hood making his ride smooth. Hubby was really impressed with Dwayne (the owner) and Mike (the manager). They were up front and honest about our repairs. I dont' think we'd trust our tranny to anyone else. So, if you're tranny gets sick or you just need a new one, check out Dwayne and the boys. They know all the ins and outs of trannies. read more

I know about cars. I've rebuilt engines, done bodywork, pretty much everything besides transmissions. I had some work done here. These guys are honest. They don't try to pull fast ones on you. Labor and parts rates are fair. Take your transmission work here, even if you have to drive a little bit to get there like I did. My transmission went out in my BMW and it was a nightmare, especially for a lady who doesn't know anything about cars. So as someone who goes in to shops to get my problems fixed, you can say I've met a lot of car mechanics. Mike has been the most helpful one I've ever met. He was upfront from the getgo: Transmissions are expensive creatures. Since I'm a poor, new graduate, he quoted me both a used part and a new part. When I said I could only do used, he looked around for my part. The first one that came in was not up to par, so he returned it and asked for a new one. When the second one was good, that's when he put it in. Since my car broke down in the afternoon on a work day and his shop was far from where I lived, he drove me back down to the Bee Caves/Galleria area so I could return to work and be more readily picked up by my boyfriend. I gave him a couple checks and asked to stagger his deposits. When the date came around a week later, he actually called me up to double check I had enough funds before he deposited. If that isn't responsible, kind business ethics, then I don't know what is. I would never wish for this to happen again because holy crap my transmission emptied out my savings, literally, but if something this terrible has to happen, I'd want it to happen with Mike, because he really did make a very stressful situation better by just being good, kind, and honest. read more

Outstanding Service. Mike shoots you straight. I took my Honda Accord in for a engine diagnostic (free) after it started having clutch issues. He and his team worked on the car for some considerable time to nail down the issue and gave me a very honest quote(s) - which considering his office is in the waiting room is hard to deny (just listening to him beating the parts suppliers down is fun as well as reassuring). Not long after, I took the car in for a brake replacement immediately after an oil change at another establishment. They hoisted the car up and told me I had an oil leak, which surprised me since I had just had the filter replaced. I decided to take the car right back to the other shop, whereupon Mike said "Tell them to call me if you have any issues with them". I took it back, they gave me some grief; I told them to call Mike at All Tranz. Five minutes later the car was being re-fitted with a new oil filter, free of charge. Then they did my brakes, took time over them which in my opinion is a good thing. The price was reasonable and did not go up from the first quote. They just got a customer for life. Just really tip-top place, honest and pro-active. Took one of our trucks for some work (not transmission) and they caught a couple of leaks in the process, called us to ask if they could do an oil change. Work was finished by the end of the day. Now we're taking in another car! Highly recommended. read more

I cannot tell you how happy I was with the service I got at this establishment. I was so worried because my check engine light came on on my recently purchased AS IS 1998 Jeep Cherokee. I am a retired lady on a very limited income and was really worried. It took all my savings to buy this care just so I could get around town. When they checked my care out they found out that when I recently put gas in the car I did not tighten the gas cap properly and that is what caused the light to come on. They fixed it for me and did not charge me anything. Thank you Mike you are a good man. I am sure I will need some real work in the future and know you will be fare. read more

Mike and his team are top notch. They always do the right thing and let you know what needs to be repaired now and what can to wait. They have been taking care of multiple vehicles for me for about 8 years. The most impressive is the 2006 Suburban that just turned 200,000 miles. I went to the dealer to get my SUV checked out since I heard a noise coming from the engine compartment. I was told that my water pump and two belts needed to be replaced. Also, there was an issue with my front axle boot. I called Mike and scheduled an appointment for a second opinion. As it turns out, the water pump and the belts did not need to be replaced. Mike did an outstanding job explaining where the noise was coming from which was due to a faulty "idler pulley". I was able to save quite a bit of money going to All Tranz and Mike provided me transportation to and from my home! read more

I wanted to give a shout out with a big thank you to Mike Alonzo at All Tranz Transmission Repair on 620. My mother who is ill with COPD and lives on oxygen, brought her car to him because the engine light was on a few weeks ago. He quickly diagnosed the problem as her gas cap was loose! No charge and a friendly kind smile. Just yesterday her light was back on and she was concerned so brought it back to him, the car died literally in his driveway as she pulled in. While looking at the car to diagnose, he was most concerned for her and got her a chair to sit down, and told her not to worry. As I pulled in to pick her up, I met Mike and immediately felt his kind spirit and concern. They agreed to have the car towed to the used dealer where she purchased just a month before and Mike arranged it all for her. We have yet to use his services, but I know if in need of transmission repair or auto repair, we are headed to All Tranz. read more
