I dropped off my Miele vacuum that was broken in shipment and these guys fixed it for me. Vacuum works great now! Also, picked up some attachments. Pay attention to the music in the shop. I thought it was radio, until I asked the owner about it. He has quite a collection of 1950's records and plays them in the shop! I live in Santa Barbara and have been so bummed that Bob's went out of business and we don't have any good vacuum stores anymore. I'll be back to All-Vac. They're reliable and affordable. read more

Shady Lady! Stay away! Took our vacuum in to be repaired. All Vacuum serviced it. I picked it up, then went on vacation. Upon returning from vacation attempted to use vacuum and it had the same problem. Took it back to All Vac and was told the motor was shot. Why did they charge me $80 to tune up a vacuum with a burned out motor? The lady at All Vac said that they can't please everybody just like the president! Nice. read more

Final chapter for All Vac and it is a sad one. After being a customer for over 40 years, I have finally given up and am saying good-bye. I reached out to the owner but there was no response. It appears time to close their doors. I take my vacuums in for an annual check up once a year. They have always suggested doing this so that my machines will always be well-cared for. Two visits ago I had a bad experience but figured that can happen with any business but this year's visit was worse, much worse. My vacuum was in perfect condition and went in for an annual check up. Two days later I picked it up and the clerk up front said that the tech commented on how well-cared for the machine was. I took it home and was devastated to discover that it no longer moved forward on its own but rather had to be pushed hard to the point where it seemed counter productive, impossible. I immediately returned to the shop and asked what happened. They said I could leave it again but that it was working fine when it left. I insisted on speaking with the tech. When he finally agreed, he went on a rant that eventually had him melting down on the floor, holding his head and yelling profanities. At first I tried to understand and converse with him but it soon became clear that he was personally having an extremely hard time and wouldn't be able to discuss the machine or anything else. Never in all my years have I had someone speak to me like this as a customer, or not. There were moments when I felt like I should step outside and call the police. It was scary. I am small women of 71 years and by no means an intimidating person. I felt emotionally assaulted. There were times when I thought he could be a physical threat. I am sharing this incident in the hopes that someone might get this person help and to prevent someone else from having to personally go through something similar. I paid to have a machine serviced and ended up with a broken machine. No refund or concern, just threats and hysteria. read more

I brought my vacuum in because I couldn't get the detachable wand back in the main part of the vacuum. Apparently, I didn't realize that I had broken an attachment and had half of it stuck on the end of the wand. They removed it for me and didn't charge me anything!! So nice and helpful!! Needed two Dyson filters that were unavailable (out of stock) from Dyson's website. Was able to walk in and within 3 min the woman came back with exactly what I needed. And the cost was well below what Dyson had listed (and wasn't even available). The woman at this Mom & Pop store said they had been there since 1950! New hard-to-find hose for my Hoover After tearing the hose attachment for our 7-year-old Hoover vacuum, I reached out to Hoover and was told they don't sell that part. (Note: the vacuum is still for sale on their website.) They suggested a few potential online retailers, but no one had the part! Finally, they suggested All-Vac as a local resource. I brought my vacuum to the store and within 5 minutes had a new hose that works! Now the part isn't the same - it's not quite as long - but it fits, works and extended the life of the vacuum by many years! So I highly recommend All-Vac for your vacuum part needs. read more

I'm bummed. I left my Dyson vac with them for repair in December. I called several times and was told the part was on back order. I called today (early June) to be told they disposed of my vacuum! They claim they tried to call me several times. We confirmed my phone number. they called, I didn't answer as I didn't recognize the number. No messages were ever left. So I'm out a vacuum. I would rate less than one star if possible. The charged me $20 to do nothing except flip a cover back, but the woman who checked me in had no knowledge of vacuums, as I dropped it off on a Saturday. When I picked it up she told me they "cleaned it and checked it". It was filthy, and had no suction when I asked the owner to test it for me. He said they "must not have looked at it", and after actually checking it out, discovered it needed a new filter. I agreed to leave the vacuum again. My mistake. After two weeks, I picked it up. Nothing done. Being a Saturday, the woman agreed it was bad service, but did not know how to handle the complaint. So very bad. The worst. read more

Beware - check your vacuum because they don't! They call to say my vacuum was ready for pick up - but when I got home (after a 1 hour drive) it had zero power (which has never happened before). Very frustrating because it was working just fine when I dropped it off to have the cord retractor and brush repaired. They didn't tested it before they called me - which I thought was very unprofessional. My husband had to drive one more hour to have them fix the power issue because we desperately needed it to get ready for our house showing. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised how easy it was getting the vacuum cleaner fixed. Was afraid I was going to have to buy a new one, and I had already taken it apart to see if I could fix it (couldn't). When I walked into the shop one morning and said the brush wasn't turning on my Dyson, the gentleman behind the counter said, "Yep, with the Dyson that's usually the clutch assembly." Gave me a price for parts and labor. They weren't slammed so he actually called me late that afternoon and told me it was ready. Now, it works better than ever. This place is awesome! I have a VERY hairy dog & my vacuum just quit working. I took the whole thing apart myself but couldn't find the problem. I brought my vacuum to All Vac on Saturday so they could check it out. Not only did they not charge me anything to look at it, they cleaned the entire vacuum and replaced a belt for only $13! I got my vacuum back on Monday. Super quick service! Their service is always friendly and their prices and service are top notch! If you're vacuum doesn't work, these are the people you should go to. This is a great place to buy a quality vacuum and get it maintained/serviced, as well as drop off your sewing machine for routine maintenance and repair. Years ago I bought a great little Sebo (bagged vacuum) here that was just the right size for my small living space from a great salesman with loads of experience. That vacuum has given me no grief whatsoever in the several years I have had it. Despite its pricey nature, I have no regrets from purchasing it. Vacuuming and emptying out the vacuum are not dreaded chores now, which is how I felt about using those popular bagless vacuums whose upright models don't have retractable cords. I also didn't feel pressured into my purchase -- there was no hard upsell, and the salesman just listened to me describe my use case (living square area, pets or kids, etc.) before making his recommendation and having me test drive some in store. He wasn't even the one to push me toward the Sebo (one of the more expensive brands they carried). I was the one who initiated asking to check out that brand's models after watching several YouTube comparison videos. As for the sewing machine service, I rolled the dice on Craigslist and purchased an inexpensive used Singer sewing machine from the 1960s (it had to be over 40 lbs). I knew it turned on and the needle moved, but beyond that I had no idea about its working condition. So the same Saturday I picked up the sewing machine, I called All Vac and asked if they still had someone doing sewing machine repair locally. They said yes, that he dropped in among several places to do his work and would be in that Saturday or Monday, and recommended I drop off my machine. There was apparently already a queue of other sewing machines there waiting to be serviced. I dropped off my machine that afternoon before they closed. I received a call Monday to inform me that my machine would be ready for pickup before close of business, as well as to inquire whether I wanted to authorize service beyond the standard service fee due to minor issues with my machine -- I said yes since the additional cost was just a pittance. I was able to speak to the sewing machine repairman as I picked up my machine (he was still working on other machines), and he told me about the condition of my machine (apparently still in great condition, with all-metal gears), as well as to remember to disengage the bobbin winding mechanism when doing regular sewing (it's way different from most sewing machines). In summary, All Vac is that rarity of a retail and service store where the employees are supremely knowledgeable about the products they sell and maintain/fix. Check them out if you need a new vacuum, have vacuum problems, or need an experienced repairman with reasonable rates to keep your sewing machine in good working order. read more

The electric hose attachment on my old Miele Red Star vacuum became difficult to attach and remove. A small plastic release tab at the base had snapped off. James at All Vac found the parts he needed to replace the base in twenty minutes for less than $30! Brick and mortar stores with skilled repair people like James are gems--great arguments against shopping online! read more

I have used their services twice for my old Hoover. Both times was a belt issue with the carpet brushes. They fixed it in no time at all and did some maintenance without me even asking. Gladly paid the $20 they charged. Whatever they did it also fixed the self-propelled feature and now the vacuum glides through carpet. Strongly recommend!!! read more

I highly recommend All - Vacuum in Ventura. I had an issue with my Hoover vacuum - the brush roller would not move when I was vacuuming the carpet. I did troubleshooting online and replaced a couple things. When I attempted to put it back together - I noticed a 'torsion spring' that was not in the right position. I could tell it worked with another part but could not decide how they fit together. I googled my little fingers raw. Hoover referred me to repair shops. I posted a question on a Vacuum parts site that had various informative videos. They suggested I look at the schematics - which I already had. Schematics show parts and part numbers - but they don't show how everything fits together! I made a quick trip to the Ventura store. They have knowledgeable repair people there all day [what a novel idea]. That's not the case with our local Thousand Oaks vacuum repair store!. I found that I needed to replace the part that the spring fit into. -- And I would not have been able to figure out how these 2 pieces fit together. So for an $8 part and about 10 minutes time - it's all fixed - and I'm back in business. The store owner was very helpful - pleasant. And the business has been there since 1959. Don't take a sewing machine there to be fixed. Dropped it off on Friday. Told them I needed it back ASAP as I was in the middle of a project. Someone was coming in Saturday or Monday to fix it. I called Monday afternoon and no one had come in to fix it. Told them to please call me back as to when it would be fixed. No call back. Same thing Tuesday morning. No phone call. When I went in to pick up the machine I was told the repair person hadn't returned any phone calls. That doesn't explain why All-Vac couldn't give me a courtesy phone call. I have taken my Dyson in there before, and they did a good job cleaning it and getting it functioning again. No problems with that. I recently took it in to have a major service (broken part) and they informed me that because their supplier is on the east coast it could be a while because of the winter storms. No biggie, three-four weeks I'm working full time and a student so only have a few days a month I can clean house anyway. Three weeks later they charged me full price for a repair that they didn't even complete! They had SUPER GLUED the part back on. I ran my Dyson for 15 minutes and the part FELL OFF again! I thought that they would be capable of at least telling me that "hey the part got stalled in shipping" or "it may take us longer to fix the vacuum" or even: "We can't get the part. Here is a list of other people who might be able to help you." I love my Dyson, and if I am going to sink an additional $200-300 in to a repair on top of the $650.00 I spent to BUY it, I would expect better quality, service and transparency. I am looking for another vendor after cancelling the check. read more
