And on top of it all, I did NOT expect to have to wear a mask to be seen. Covering my face gives me extreme anxiety, so I almost had to walk out. Overall a VERY disappointing experience! When one purchases glasses from them, they take excellent care of any repair needs in a timely and most cost effective way often for free as part of their customer service. For example, I have taken in glasses occasionally that were pretty badly bent after accidentally sitting on them and they were able to straighten out the glasses good as new right on the spot. Also, in this shop, when it is a quick repair, you can watch them work on your glasses...pretty amazing craftsmen. Friendly, professional, personable, and tend to remember who you are as a regular customer. I very much enjoy going there to purchase and repair my glasses. By the way, nice selection of glasses. I walked into Village Wye Center and found a pair I loved within 10 minutes. I was able to order the lenses in the custom colors I wanted. I got magnetic clip on sunglass lenses for them and a second set of clip on made especially for migraines. After picking up my glasses I walked around for weeks saying randomly to people that I loved my new glasses lol. I still feel this way. Recently I had to change my prescription. They were happy to help me do this, and even fixed a tiny bit of damage I had caused after dropping them. They were ready faster than predicted and they're perfect. I love this store.

It has become extremely difficult to schedule appointments with Dr. Hinkle or Dr. Boyle. After waiting weeks, we've arrived for appointments only to be told they were canceled without notice. Additionally, the front office staff is often rude and make simple questions feel like an inconvenience. The newer staff responsible for fitting glasses also do not seem to take the time to properly ensure a correct fit. This has been very disappointing given the level of care we experienced in the past. Unfortunately, today was the tipping point and we will not be back.

Back to the lenses - Ali, the new owner, was beyond helpful and pleasant. He has worked in the industry for years and really knows his stuff. I'm so happy with my new glasses. The lenses are perfect. Never occurred to me that a retail optician would be closed at 5 pm M_F and on completely closed on saturday, so i went on saturday. (travel time one hour!). picked up days later at 830 am on a weekday, delaying arrival to work by also an hour. then glasses made very wrong-- total failure to include the 2.5 prism in each lens, causing me to see double while driving, rather dangerous. obviously didnt bother to check prescription on the lenses before giving to me. Brought them back a few days later (while wearing old ones) when i could manage to get there when they were open, verified by checking lens (30 second task) . sent them to remake. then lost them in transit. finally got them again. inside of a week, one lens fell out while working quietly at desk. i put it back in, seated it properly, tightened both screws very tightly. two days later, same lens fell out while i was biking. same day the other lens fell out. inserted both properly, seated clearly in the groves. switched to old glasses again. took them back (another hour travel!). was told that i just didnt seat them properly (i had, they managed to unseat themselves in 24 hours) asked for refund. will see if i actually get it so: 2 months, 6 trips, hours wasted in travel time and work vacation time AND no glasses. Back to Visionworks in Rockville, MD lousy parking, but at least their glasses work.

We were both happy with what she did, and how everything was explained clearly. Prescription eyewear selection followed and that was fairly smooth as well. I thought the frames selection was somewhat limited but I don't have anything to compare to currently. Overall happy with everything, and will return in the future.

I went in again and there was this one lady at the front desk who was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I approached the front desk to request a printout of my contact lens prescription as suggested by Dr. Rubin, she insisted I had to pay for both a contact lens exam and a glasses exam, even though I hadn't requested a glasses exam, and my glasses prescription was still valid from four months ago. I paid, but requested explanations. Despite explaining my insurance coverage and situation, she remained adamant, refusing to listen and even declined to provide my prescription print out, citing distraction from billing inquiries. She then callously added, "You contact your insurance. If nothing else I can help you. You can be out of here." When I suggested Dr. Rubin come out to explain, the lady at the front desk callously retorted, "Dr. Rubin doesn't own the business. It is what it is; you have to pay for two exams." This further added to my disappointment and frustration, as it seemed to dismiss my concerns entirely. Feeling frustrated and disappointed, I requested Dr. Rubin's presence myself, and he and another front desk staff member clarified the billing procedure and explained changes in my insurance policy. Despite this, I still questioned the necessity of double exams, especially given the recent glasses exam. While Dr. Rubin is excellent, the behavior of one team member left me feeling disrespected and dismissed, tarnishing the overall experience.

So of course I did my annual eye exam in 2019 with OptimEYES and received the same treatment I did the year before. Who knew an eye exam could be easy and flawless? I also needed new glass frames and Antonio swooped in and helped me pick out a pair that was stylish and comfortable. His patience and explanation of frames made the process stress-free.
