Talk about confused!!! After canceling my appointment I kept getting confirmation calls for my appointment. Than today a receptionist calls to confirm my appointment. I tell her that they canceled my appointment she says OK. A little time passes and she calls back to tell me my appointment hasn't been canceled and if I want I can still come in. **DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE DAVIS VISION INSURANCE** Being new to the Martinsburg area I was in need of a new eye doctor. Getting an appointment was a pain as the front desk person was half-way rude with me when her first three options didn't work for me. I mentioned I teach out of state yet she kept offering a weekday daytime appointment. I finally asked if we could just look at weekends and found something five weeks out. My appointment was set for 830. I wrote that down in four places while on the phone. The day before I received a call that my 815 appointment was confirmed. I called back after work to confirm that I scheduled an 815 appointment to which she told me "I have you down for 815, come then or reschedule." I know it's just 15 minutes...but that's a big deal to a mom on a Saturday morning! And I am positive I scheduled it for 830! When arriving to check in they had me sign paper approving charges. I noticed there was nothing checked for what they were charging me. I commented that I would prefer for something to be marked before I sign and she replied to me like I was dumb and the first person to ever have a problem with nothing being checked. Both ladies commented (in a snotty way) that all I do is sign and they complete that later. Finally I said "we just aren't on the same page here, I want it checked before I sign so I know what I am approving." They said they don't do it that way, they will complete it later all I do is sign now." The actual appointment went ok. I doubt I will return though since most interactions will be with the rude employees. Update - weeks after my appointment I am still not happy with my service. I received information from my benefits coordinator at work stating I should only be charged a $15 co-pay for contact exams and this place charged me $70! I also specifically asked if I could use my Davis Vision Insurance benefits here and I was told I could. However my benefits include a years supply of free contacts and Allegany Optical does NOT provide these benefits. DO NOT GO HERE if you have Davis Vision Insurance!! You will be unable to use your benefits at another location because you got your eye exam at the wrong place!!! read more

Our family has been here twice and will not go back. The front desk staff as well as the Doctors are pretty rude and act like you are bothering them! The Dr. didn't listen to my son and went ahead and gave him a lense for astigmatism that he can't see out of. Spent a total of 3 minutes with him. We will now have to pay to go to a different eye Dr. Don't waste your money on Doctors who won't listen to their patients. read more

Just got back for Allegany O in Spring Mills next to the Walmart, there. The staff was nice and the doctor and his worker-bees were efficient and thorough and polite. My trouble was the selection of frames and cost. Not much of a selection at this AO, really; most of them are all the latest styles that are dark-framed with the upper outside corners tilted up, like cats-eyes (okay, can I say it? Butt-ugly; they all remind me of military glasses. We used to call them birth-control glasses, so young folks who like this...what can I say? The styles, of course, are not Allegany's fault; but, they really need to have a wider selection to choose from. Not everyone wants to look like a 20-something hipster (All you young folk, just FYI: the style isn't really new, just that the kids who used to dress like that back in the day got beat up a lot at recess....) I got a sticker shock when they added it all up. I've never paid more than about $200 for a pair of glasses...but now I'm paying $400+ for a pair. Yikes! They tried to dig up discounts for me, but still... Went to Walmart and found a decent frame for $86. The total there would be @ $260 vs @ $350 for just the glasses without the doc's bill. Hmmm....and Wally world's selection was much better, sad to say. read more

I am completely satisfied with my experience at Allegheny Optical. The doctor was professional and polite. The ladies who worked with me to find the perfect glasses were brilliant. I bought two pair and they are perfect. I couldn't ask for more. Except there was no warranty on the glasses (without paying extra). read more

I had an appointment for my eye exam today at 2:15pm. When I routed on maps, it directed me to MyEyeDr on foxcroft. Since they had sent me a confirmation text the previous day to confirm my appointment, and the text read "allegany optical, now part of myeyedr", I assumed that that this place that google maps took me to, was in fact Allegany. Anyhow, I reached the place at 2:15 on the dot. I went inside to check in, and the lady there told me I was at the wrong location. When asked where the right place was, she said that the clinic had changed the name to MyEyeDr and it was no longer called Allegany and it was across the street near Walmart. So I immediately called the number they had sent in the confirmation text, (2:20pm exactly) and Alice (the receptionist, I am guessing) answered. I explained my situation and told her that I was at the wrong myeyedr branch, and wanted to confirm directions with her. She put me on hold, came back and told me that I had to reschedule. I was taken aback at that response and again told her that I was only 5 mins late and that too at the other myeyedoctor location which was somewhere close by. But she wouldnt hear me out, in fact responds back saying "you have to reschedule, its 2:21pm". I am so upset at Their rude and unapologetic behavior ! Who the heck reschedules an appointment for being 5 mins late?! That too when it's their fault for not providing the correct information?! Unbelievable!!! I did not want to waste another minute on them, so I refused their service and never am returning to this place again!! No wonder I need an eye exam, I could have found myself a better eye center! read more

Will never go back. Purchased a pair of frames from them, and went in to pick them up a week later. The lady assisting me snapped them while trying to adjust the size. She didn't tell me she broke my frames, and then proceeded to go to their display case and find the frames I purchased. She put my new lenses in a pair of their display frames and tried to give them to me. She never once mentioned to me that I would be receiving the display frames. Why would I pay full price for frames that have been tried on, scratched and bent by countless people!? Unprofessional to say the least. read more

My problem was not with the doctor, rather the experience I had when buying my glasses. This is the first place I have EVER gone that did nothing to adjust my glasses to insure the perfect fit when I picked them up. Instead, they just handed me the glasses......and I looked at the girl sort of confused and she asked if there was a problem. I replied, "Aren't you going to fit me in them?" She said, "No need. You tried them on before you ordered them!" That was the last time I will ever buy glasses there. Normally I have my glasses adjusted to fit around my ears just right and to make sure the little nose pads fit comfortably, etc. My daughter works for an eye doctor in Richmond, Va. and she was shocked when I told her this. If this is the attention they give to customer service, they are in big trouble. I am now in need of a new pair, and will go anywhere besides them. Even Costco offered more personal care than these lazy people. read more

Unprofessional and failed to provide services as promised. Sales staff argumentative. Still have not received my glasses on expedited order that wasn't placed until 4 days after re-visit. Eye exam revisit occurred since the first visit wasn't done correctly. Consistent mistakes with this place. Have no consideration of wasting your time by having to come back and give the clear indication that they are doing you a favor by correcting their mistakes. read more

This past weekend we arrived for our 11:45 eye appointment. We sat in the back room for over 30 mins as the Dr. took other appointments as if we were forgotten. I went to the receptionist to ask when we would be seen and was told we were next. 15 mins went by and the Dr. again took another appointment. I again went up front this time to cancel our appointments and left. I was then called 10 mins later to be informed that we left without paying a co-payment!
