Their flights are always delayed, if you're lucky only an hour but often it's much longer. Also they up-charge you for every possibly thing, including a $5 fee for printing you a boarding pass. Yes their prices are cheaper but by the time you add up the flight, seat, and baggage charges the price increases so much you might as well have flown a more reportable airline. This airline is absolutely the worst ever. They charge for everything, actually shocked you don't have to pay extra to use the bathroom. I paid to have the first 2 seats in the first 2 rows. When we boarded the first 3 rows had caution tape on them. The then had to move us back to row 15 or so. I've flown with Allegiant a number of times, and I have also flown on Delta, United, American, Southwest and others, many times. I can't say that service or flights were any worse than any other, and the prices were unbeatable. I've always found Allegiant's staff to be courteous and friendly, and so far I have not experienced the delays others complain about. I understand cancellations due to weather, especially in a snow storm. My flight this morning from Mesa-Gateway to Provo airport was cancelled after being in air for 5 hours and not being able to land. When we got back, they announced that there would be no rescheduling - just cancellation - and that we would have to do that on our own. That wouldn't be a problem, if they actually provided a way for us to reschedule the flight online. It won't let me. Even if I directly press the link in the email they sent me expanding on how to reschedule. It says I need to call. Well, every time I call, the line is busy. I have to get back to UT ASAP so I don't have time for this. I finally got onto the phone line after an hour of trying to call and my estimated wait time is 3 hours. All of the online chat agents are unavailable as well. I understand that it's Sunday, but for an airline that does plenty of flights per day, their customer service is shit. I used Allegiant for a recent trip to Wisconsin. While there my mother passed away and I wanted to change my return flight which was scheduled for the next day. After 40 minutes on hold I was told - "No" and had to forfeit my flight and baggage fees. They need 7 days advance notice for cancellation or changes, even with a change fee. Bereavement gives no consideration. This was the final straw. Allegiant has added on checked bag fees, carry on bag fees, and now charges for printing a boarding pass. With no consideration for a death and rescheduling, I'll use other airlines. read more

People beware of this Airline,. I wished I had read all your reviews prior to buying tickets with this airline. First they market a low fair but everything else is a la carte which I knew and accepted. My disappointment came when we needed to cancel our trip for a very good reason their cancellation policy is out of this world and they don't reimburse you the remainder to your credit card they issue a voucher. I don't know how they are still in business and for sure I will not book any other reservations with them. Use other airlines to get to your destinations this carrier doesn't care about you, I felt as if I was a piece of cargo that they can throw away and really don't care at all. I am extremely disappointed in Allegiant, that social distancing is not being practiced on their flights during the Covid-19 pandemic. Face masks are optional, which is absolutely ridiculous for the fact the passenger list included most people over the age of 65. We had people in front of our row, next to our row, and behind our row, which also does not follow the 6' guidelines. I will never fly Allegiant again. This airline has a couple of things going for it. It flys non-stop to some rather obscure cities (Minot ND for one). The seats start out fairly inexpensive, but then you have to pay for practically everything else. A better seat? $10-25. Carry on? $25. Water? $2. Then the return flight is cancelled. Not delayed, cancelled. I get a text from Allegiant at 3:30 AM. Which I do appreciate. I call them at 6 AM. The recording says Due to call volume I may experience a longer than average wait time. One hour and six minutes later I get to talk to a human. The reason for the cancellation? Mechanical issues. On other planes. Several flights are cancelled. Apparently all their planes broke on the same day. The good news is I get a $100 credit (non-transferable) to fly on a future Allegiant flight. Fat chance. My options: 1. I'm automatically rebooked on a new flight the next day. 2. I can fly from a different city of my choice. Available option is Bismarck, 2 hours away and the flight is the next day too. 3. Without penalty I can cancel my flight. Mighty nice of them to not penalize me for cancelling my original flight. Since I have to return my rental car anyway, I swing by the Allegiant ticket counter to check on my options. Actual conversation: Me: I was booked on the flight today and I understand I'm rebooked on the replacement flight and have received a $100 credit. Agent: That's correct Me: I would like to cancel my reservation for the flight and rebook the flight tomorrow using my $100 credit. A: But you're already on the flight tomorrow. Me: I know. I want to use my credit though. I understand I can cancel my reservation without penalty and is like to do just that. A: I can't do that here. Me: You're a ticket agent, correct? Not only do the seats are horrible and compacted even more than a normal coach seat, but their customer service was rude and simply unprofessional when I attempted to contact their hotline. Flight: 171 - Bellingham, WA to Mesa Gateway, AZ Date: Saturday March 26, 2016 On Saturday, 03/26 I went to Mesa Gateway to pick up my daughter and granddaughter on their flight from Bellingham. My daughter, checked her 6 month old child's car seat at the gate since she was traveling alone and would need it immediately upon departing from the plane. When she got off the plane she was told her car seat was brought to baggage claim. FOR THREE AND A HALF HOURS WE DEALT WITH YOUR UNHELPFUL STAFF IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND THE CARSEAT. IT WAS NEVER FOUND. We started by waiting at baggage. There were many flights that day, and many unhappy fliers. When we could actually find someone to ask, we were told they were short staffed and could not help us. We just had to wait. So we waited, and waited, and waited. WITH A 6 MONTH OLD BABY. Finally.. I went to check in hoping to find a person to talk to. Of the 7 or 8 check in agents, I was told only one could help me because she was a supervisor. I would give you her name, but clearly your company does not want the public to know any of your employees names because she (nor any Allegiant employee) was wearing a name tag. The "Super"visor already had a line of other passengers that had missing baggage, missing crutches, missing car seats, etc. So we waited patiently to talk to her. She was so helpful that I felt so confident in your company after talking to her (sarcasm here). She NEVER once made eye contact with me, never once apologized for this fiasco, showed ZERO compassion to the fact that we had a 6 month old baby and NO CAR SEAT to get her home. But she was nice enough to TEXT someone to try to find the car seat. Told us we had to wait some more. SO WAIT we did. DID I MENTION WE HAD A 6 MONTH OLD BABY??? I said what do we do if you cannot locate the seat? I was assured by your very competent highly trained "super"visor that she had a car seat available. Back to baggage claim we were sent by your "super"visor. Still no car seat. So I went back to the ticket counter. By now your "super"visor was clearly packing up to go home. She was the last ticket agent left. I said I want the car seat, we cannot wait any longer. So she again TEXTED some mysterious other supervisor, who was probably somewhere in a black hole with my granddaughters car seat. "Super"visor sent me to a "WFS" door by baggage claim and assured me that another "super"visor would be there to give me a car seat.. WFS by the way stands for World class flight services.... IN WHAT WORLD??? Not this one. You should re label it the WTF door. We waited there, along with multiple others. NO ONE EVER CAME TO WFS...EVER... I finally left and went to Walmart to BUY a car seat that you will now pay for. My daughter the passenger did not pay for it. WHY you ask?? Because she had to sit at the airport with her 6 month old child and WAIT for me to go purchase it. Not to mention her husband is in the NAVY and they are on a very tight income. Which of course you could care less about. I have a receipt for $149.00 plus $11.62 that I would be more than happy to email to you if you give me an address. Otherwise, you can choose to ignore this. BUT I WILL NOT GO AWAY. I am going to contact the BBB until this is resolved. You may find it acceptable to treat customers this way, but I will not stand for it. NOR will I ever fly on this airline-EVER. Now there's flight tracking apps that locate your plane and where it's been and it's scheduled stops etc Allegiant just pulled a bald face lie claiming a 2 hour flight delay due to rather. The flight originated in Grand Rapids MI flying to Mesa AZ departing at 3:26 arriving at 5:18. This is a turn around flight that was supposed to leave at 5:57 but is now scheduled for 7:12. Guess the crew needs to get a quickie in to festers and get ready to fly back in let's see normal weather (view national weather maps) but this must be too stressful for them TO DO THEIR JOB. (Yes the plain had a short delay due to weather having a 29 minute delay from take off and arrived 6 minutes after it was originally scheduled to land) I've flown enough to understand that various situations do arise that cause delay BUT it PISSES me off when a business fricken outright lies to you for whatever the reason. There was a line of people waiting to get on the plane so I was waiting for the line to die down before going to the counter. The attendant called last call for my flight so I was grabbing my things as I was walking to the ticket counter she walked out the door. Thus I missed my flight. I was sitting in the seats next to the departure and she looked at me as I was packing my things. When the ticket attendant came back I asked her why she only did 1 last call and did not announce the names of the passengers who where not on the flight. She didn't have an answer. Then when I went to get booked on the next flight that was close to where I was going they charged me the change fee and again I asked why they only did 1 last call for the flight? As Im sitting in the airport for my next flight I heard every other person call out the names of passengers who had not boarded the plane yet and 2-3 last call announcements for the boarding flights. We flew Allegiant to Provo recently. What a horrible experience. The "charge you for everything" model is annoying. When it was all said and done, for $30 less, our family of 4 could have flown Southwest and avoided all this. Don't bother pre-paying for your seats because if they change your plane, like they did to us, you lose them and you get what you get. We went from 2nd row seats (pre-paid $160 for 4) to mixed rows 7 and 8. They even split up our young children (we were at least able to negotiate getting them next to each other). Customer service was unhelpful and dismissed our concerns. She told me to call customer service but don't expect to get through. Our plane had something wrong with the brakes too. When the plan was taxiing to take off and the pilot put the brakes on, the plane would shake violently. Not vibrate, shake! You could hear the bags in the overheads banging around. They proceeded to take off anyway... We were genuinely scared about the landing at our destination. So the time came and we landed, when the brakes were applied, the plane shuttered at very high speed. As it slowed, it shook even worse than before! I thought the landing gear was going to fold under the plane. No employees seemed to care. The flight attendant made a bad joke about changing the brake fluid or something. There's so much more I'm leaving out. I could write a book about all the negatives! If you care about your life and the life of your family, avoid this airline. On Monday, November 13th I attempted to purchase 2 tickets at the counter of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA). Despite the listed open hours being 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, no staff members were present, and nothing was posted online. There was a single sign on the counter that read, "Due to System [sic] failure Tickets [sic] will not Be [sic] Sold [sic] until furter [sic] notice. Sorry for the Inconvenience [sic]." I contacted customer relations online, and was given an unhelpful answer by Pamela on November 17. I waited in line for 90 minutes today (the first day the counters were open following the 13th) to purchase my tickets at the counter, and the price had gone up $51 for each ticket. I asked to be charged at the rate I would have been charged on the 13th, as it was not my error that caused my inability to purchase tickets, and was told there was nothing that could be done. I am highly disappointed by this unacceptable level of customer service. There is no reason for staff to be unavailable during 3/6 hours a week the counter is open, nor is there any reason why I should have to pay $102 extra for Allegiant's egregious error. read more

Key points: - Require any assistance and you'll be on hold at least 30 minutes...once I waited 50 minutes on hold to get an agent to help us with a ticketing change for my wife to get home to her dying father's bedside - If anything goes wrong, either a weather or mechanical issue, you are stuck waiting for these folks to decide if and when they want to take care of you...they don't play nice with other airlines and will not re-book you, and since they don't run many flights out of any airport, there isn't extra equipment sitting around to fill in their gaps - On my wife's most recent round-trip experience with Allegiant, she waited a total of 16 hours for her outbound flight to take off, and as I write, she is in her fourth hour waiting for her return flight.... - They do not train their employees to think about Customer Service...e.g. I tried to check my wife in for today's flight online...24 hours in advance as suggested. When I tried to do so last night, we received a message that she needed to check-in with a gate agent...so I printed that message out for her...today, when she checked-in with said ticketing agent, he tried to charge her $5 for printing her boarding pass and insisted that she first try to check-in online...which she pointed out didn't work last night but went ahead and tried to do today...when it (again) didn't work, he then magically found a way to print her boarding pass without charging her $5. These people provide basic transportation. You pay for anything extra. Sodas. Boarding passes. Checked bags. Carry on bags. Seat assignments. Early boarding. The list goes on. And on. It's been a number of years since I rode a Greyhound, but I might disagree with the reviewer to the right who said this is "half a step above riding a Greyhound..." It's been said a lot about this airline, but it's true, you get what you pay for. I give this three stars because it is, hands down, the most inexpensive airline near me. I love that. I couldn't see my parents nearly as often if it weren't for their low prices. With that, I know I must put up with the fact that the flights are usually delayed, sometimes for a couple hours. I plan accordingly. No way would I book through this airline if I had a strict schedule. No free beverages, though they might spit in a cup for you if you plead. Just know what you're getting yourself into. I cram everything I need into a backpack - no charge. I don't pick my seat ahead of time - no charge. I use the app for my boarding ticket - no charge. These people will try to squeeze blood from a turnip, but that's how they keep their prices so low, so I grin and bear it. At least it's not red eye flights like Spirit. read more

Flight arrived on time, however, the seats were very uncomfortable with not a lot of leg room. Ticket price once additional fees were calculated ended up about the same as major airlines. I fly this airline all the time and I love the convenience of no layovers and the lower cost even though the airport is farther from my home. I have not had many issues using them HOWEVER , their phone (customer service) sucks big time!!! You can't get through. I purchased trip flex and need to make a change . They don't let you do it online. I was on hold 50 minutes and was disconnected and now I'm back on hold for 40. Or half the time you don't even get to be on hold , instead you just encounter a constant busy signal. I told them 2 years ago when I finally got through to someone (for this very reason) that this is horrible customer service. Apparently they don't care since it hasn't changed. I may still be on hold tomorrow at this time! Ok , after 55 minutes I did get through ... and the customer service rep. was not even pleasant and was actually borderline rude. I booked a flight online and 12 hours later received 2 confirmation numbers. Turns out they had booked and charged me twice for the same flight. After calling customer service twice (and waiting close to an hour between the 2 calls) and emailing them twice, I called back to confirm my flight was now correctly booked and a return had been authorized. The woman I've spoke to was the worst customer service person I have ever spoken to. She was rude, unprofessional and blamed me for the websites hiccup. She refused to transfer me to someone else when I asked and said I could write a letter if I wanted to complain! I've never experienced such horrible customer service and an incompetent company. On flight 501 from Cedar Rapids to Mesa. Purchased 3 tickets together but seats were in different places on the plane. The agent at CR was extremely rude, long dark hair and working on Saturday March 16th around 9:00 pm. She never made an effort to look to see what she can do and even said "you must have purchased those seats". Alright. I have no problem with an airline that wants to give you a value. I have no problem w/ an airline that contracts out its gate agents through a 3rd party, to save themselves money. And I have no issue w/ an airline that will cancel your flight because weather in your arriving city is of biblical, world-ending proportions....who wants to risk THAT landing? Not. I. What I do have a problem with, is an airline that seems to think customer service is something all OTHER businesses in the world have to offer, but they're exempt from such a nuisance. (Customers? We have customers??) To that, here is my story. Friday Jan 11th, 2012, I was to fly out of Mesa, AZ to Ogden, UT. The weather in UT was pretty bad (see aforementioned biblical reference) w/ freezing temps and all the snow of a season coming down in 1 day. This weather system had been going on since Thurs and was to end by Sat afternoon. Because I had a 2 hr drive from Tucson to get to Mesa, I told my sister who was taking me that should my flight get canceled, I wouldn't expect her to turn around to get me...I would just stay in Mesa. (She has 3 kids...as all you parents can see, that spells hassle). I get to the airport, 2 hrs in advance as informed (side note: should you still decide to use Allegiant, the 2 hr arrival is really only for those checking in luggage, I realized. An hour otherwise is fine. Just print your boarding pass before you get to the airport!) get through security and head to the gate. Our flight is showing on time and soon enough, they start to board us. Once on the plane, however, we wait. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the cockpit comes on over the PA to say, "We're waiting to hear back from Ogden because of the weather they are experiencing...we'll update in 20 min." Now, once upon a time, I used to work for SkyWest Airlines as a gate agent, so here's a tip: When you are already seated on the plane, and THEN you get an announcement from the cockpit saying they are waiting to hear back from the arriving airport, yeah, you are screwed and your flight will be canceled. Needless to say, after an hour and a half of waiting, ta-da, our flight was axed. Once off the plane, I received a weather advisory flier from the contracted gate agent explaining the policy of Allegiant for these types of situations (aka, in no way will Allegiant reimburse you, the passenger, and here's a number to call for "distressed" needs that you will not be able to get, because we've closed our call center so kiss off). I found out when our flight would be rescheduled, now on Sat., same time as Friday. I then went through the process of finding lodging for the night, and had an overall decent stay in Mesa. Saw Zero Dark Thirty. Stayed near a Cheesecake Factory. Not bad. Saturday Jan 12, 2012 was supposed to be my exit out of Mesa. But guess what. Once I got to the airport, I found out there was another weather advisory for Ogden. To be totally fair, this was more an issue w/ the Ogden airport. Because it was so cold, the airport was having a hard time keeping their rinky dink runway free of ice. (Suggestion Ogden Airport: maybe you should spring the money for a snow plow and de-icing equipment, rather than some old fart hand-sprinkling salt rocks out there, hoping that'll do the job). This means, the passengers of Allegiant flt 102 to Ogden UT were waiting, again, w/ little info as to whether or not the flight was to take off. Our departure time came and went. An hour went by, then another. By the top of the 3rd hr from departure time, I realized I and every other passenger there would be spending another chunk of money to stay in Mesa, should Sat flt get canceled. On top of that, the weather on Sunday was to remain below freezing, possibly causing another delay/cancellation, should Ogden have the same issue. I mean, think about this. There were parents w/ small kids wanting to get home. Elderly folk. Unaccompanied minors. All on this flight, all waiting, because Allegiant was willfully choosing to not offer the decency of customer service and better information. An airline whose goal is to offer an inexpensive alternative to the big guys, and you end up possibly spending 3 times the amount because of their horrible lack of planning and understanding of appropriate airline operations. On top of this, you have a contracted gate agent who is given the weakest of info in regards to when we will all get the hell out of there. It's not her fault, by any means. What ended up happening in my case was another woman and I decided to get a one way ticket on Southwest for $192 that evening, out of PHX SkyHarbor, since we didn't want to continue wasting time at Mesa, waiting to find out we'd have to spend that money anyway on another night's stay. And what did we find out? The flight was canceled again, and as I write this, I'm waiting to see if everyone will get out of Mesa today. To be continued... read more

I only use this airline because it flys straight into Green Bay WI. Seats are very uncomfortable and there is NO WIFI ON THE PLANE! Here is the good! Cheap tickets, no long security check points you're in and out! But they do charge for every little thing. read more

I've flown Allegiant to Vegas four times now and my experience has been mixed. On the positive side, the fares can't be beat and flying out of Gateway is as easy as pie. On my first trip, we had to turn back to Mesa as soon as we took off because of a smoke detector going off in the bathroom. The fire trucks were waiting for us with lights flashing and everything. At this point, I was a little rattled and contemplated just driving up to Vegas. We decided to stick it out, they found another plane and we were on our way in a little over an hour. Made it there incident free. Second trip was a breeze. No complaints. Third trip had a ton of turbulence. Not the airline's fault I suppose. I'm not a pilot, but I do question their decision to fly in those sort of conditions. The plane was rocking in every direction. Scariest flight of my life. Luckily it was just a short hop. Fourth trip went as well as it could have too. My only complaints with Allegiant stem from the way they do business. I have a bag that I carry-on to every other airline without issue. When I checked-in at the gate with Allegiant they measured it and it was like 1/8 an inch too big. They let me "slide" and told me I'd have to check it in next time. I think they may need to recalibrate their ruler though. Another complaint is the limited ticket counter hours. I get why they do it (to make people buy online), but it seems backwards to charge less to actually use the services of a person. Also seems they only staff the ticket counter with just one person to further dissuade you from buying at the airport. Lastly, their fleet is one of the oldest in the industry. I hope the maintenance issue I had on my first trip is just an isolated incident rather than a regular occurrence. Because of this concern, I'll probably only use them for short trips rather than going across the country, and especially not Hawaii since there's nowhere to make an emergency landing. read more

One star is the only appropriate rating for this airlines. I have flown them three times, not once have I taken off, or landed when the itinerary suggested I would. What's worse is the last two time I have flown, experience is everything. Once to Honolulu, which was diverted to Las Vegas due to problems with the plane. That caused a 5 hour delay. Now, I am sitting in the terminal at Colorado Springs airport waiting for maintenance to fix a problem with one of the bathrooms... Nobody at the terminal has any clue what is happening, and we have been sitting here for 4.5 hrs. I am all about safety, but there is no reason to put a paying customer through this. I have witnessed these employees playing on wheelchairs, socializing back and forth, all the while we are laying on the crappy carpet and becoming more angry. I will tell you that the Mesa gateway location was convenient, but at this point I could have flown to Sky Harbor on any other airlines twice. Game over Allegiant. I won't let you mess up my plans ever again. It's 12:55 in the AM right now. read more

Here's the thing: Allegiant Air, at times, can be much cheaper than flying out of Sky Harbor, especially to a place like Montana where I have family. It is also very nice that it's a nonstop flight, at times you can get a flight under a $100. Sometimes you can't though and their flights are just as much as a regular airline. Also, Allegiant has so many freaking rules. They will nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING!!! Yes, if you want to pick your seat, you will pay. If you want a carry on bag, you will pay. If you want a checked bag, you will pay. If you want some water, you will pay. And now, if you would like a printed boarding pass, you will pay for it. I understand that they are trying to cut corners on a few things, but good Lord, you have to pay for a boarding pass? My father, who does not have a smart phone and couldn't get to a printer before he flew had to pay five effing dollars for a boarding pass. God forbid if you want a suitcase for a trip. By the time you pay for a bag and a seat so you don't have to sit in the middle of a row between two giants in the tiniest planes ever, the ticket will cost you what it costs to fly out of Sky Harbor. The flight crew is usually rude and barking orders as you get on the plane. If there is a delay, you are now stuck in the WORST airport to wait because there is nothing there. Their latest transgression happened this past weekend when I went to pick someone up and I had literally parked there for 2 seconds because the flight had landed and my friend had no checked bags, and the security guard chased me out of the way, even though I was in no one's way. Again, rude behavior from everyone involved. It's as if they go out of their way to be rude and make everything as difficult as possible. Anytime I can avoid using Allegiant, I will and I suggest you do the same. read more

NO STARS! worst customer service. No refunds and $300 cancelation fees for two round trip tickets. Only to find out later that the flight we booked was CANCELED and they would still not refund us. So glad we ended up not flying with them. On hold for 68 min to get through to a customer service agent only to be hung up on. DO NOT EVER FLY WITH ALLEGIANT. I can usually put up with a lot but this is unbelievable. read more
