We bought a car from Pat. Based on mileage and condition of the car and based on my research the price was fair. We didn't try to negotiate because of it. My only complaint is that because the car had been sitting for a bit, it was dirty from rain etc. When we picked it up, it was still dirty. I commented about it and was given the "short staff" excuse. I really do understand that. I just don't think it's good business to sell a car to someone without making it look its best. The car was not delivered with a full tank of gas either. We were told that if we have a good review online, they would then fill our tank with gas. Wasn't terribly impressed with the service. My mother-in-law who is 85 years old purchased a vehicle for my 29 year old daughter from this so called car lot. When they went to get the car tagged, the DMV told them the owner didn't sign the back of the title or give them a form they needed. They went back to Allen Automotive and let the owner know that the DMV would not tag the car until he signed the back of the title and gave her the form she needed. He not only REFUSED to sign the back of the title and REFUSED to give her the form, he screamed and yelled at both of them. Also, not only is he acting like this with 2 women, but my 4 year old grandson was with them as well. My mother-in-law just spent over $9000 on a vehicle from him and this is the kind of customer service she gets?!?! She is 85 years old.....what kind of "man" and "business owner" screams & yells and refuses to do what needs to be done to get a car he just sold tagged & does it to an old lady and a young lady with a young child?!?! Bought a 2013 Honda Odyssey from Allen Automotive. Had a water pump failure and coolant leak which caused the timing belt to break and destroy the whole engine. I've had the car for a month and a week. They told me there was nothing they could do for me. They also told me they would put new brakes on it and that they would call me when they came in. They NEVER did. They apparently don't inspect or test drive any of these vehicles that they sell. That or their mechanic is a complete idiot. Probably both. I took the car to my mechanic to learn the underneath of the car was held together by zip ties, obviously had been involved in a front end crash. Additionally the car had MAJOR mechanical issues, needed all new rotors, water pump, valve cover gasket, oil leak.... too many things to list... When I returned to Allen Automotive and told the salesman what my mechanic said about the car, he acted surprised. (really?) This place is the epitome of why used car dealers have a bad reputation, they lie about the condition of their cars and try to sell to good unsuspecting people. Don't waste your time. read more

I've now bought three cars from Allen Automotive. I've always been very leery when it comes to buying a car. The pitfalls are many, the loss can be thousands of dollars if you end up with a lemon, so finding sales people you can trust is of the utmost importance. In 2014, I first met Brad Allen when I took my Buick Lucerne to Allen Automotive garage. The car was well past the 100,000 mile mark and it was having some serious mechanical issues. Brad gave me a 2012 Infiniti to drive while his mechanics checked it out. I fell in love with that car immediately. Brad gave me a list of the repairs that the Buick needed, but we started negotiating the price of the Infinite. That's what I like about the folks at Allen Automotive, they are willing to negotiate and to provide clear documentation about the car's history without a runaround. Everyone goes out of their way to be helpful. Anyway after a few days, we reached a deal that was satisfactory to us all. Fast forward to this summer. I have two grandsons, one is a senior in high school and one is in college. The senior needed a first-time car, and the college student's car had just been totaled when a driver hit his car. The senior spotted online a 2006 Audi for sale that just happened to be at Allen's Automotive. I laughed when he told me, and called Brad. We then met with Waseem, the car sales manager, drove the car, negotiated and worked out a satisfactory deal. Allen also had a 2008 Audi that my college student decided he wanted. Again, negotiated, discussed and agreed on a price. Both cars are amazingly clean for 12 and 14 years old, have a great ride and a smooth-sounding engine with practically new tires. Each had only 120,000 miles. I think we got fantastic deals on both cars. I highly, highly recommend Allen's Automotive if you are looking for a small used car dealership and garage that can be trusted and has been in the Merriam-Shawnee area for years. read more

I purchased a 2013 Volkswagen Golf at Allen Auto. They would not negotiate on the price saying that they had put thousands into repairs on the vehicle. I did purchase the vehicle and took it to a mechanic to be serviced, and to my surprise learned that it has a very bad oil leak and will cost over $1000 to repair. The rear main seal was blown out, and I learned was because the dealership overfilled the oil on the car. This dealership has a large amount of Volkswagen cars so you would expect them to know how to do a routine oil change. The dealer warranty has not expired yet but they will not repair the leak. I have driven the car less than 1,000 miles. read more

I had a rebuilt engine put into my car. It took them two months to install it, when finished there was a front camera missing and I complained, saying it was there from the beginning. Allen wanted proof saying it never was there, after finally convincing them to take off the bumper and check they found it was there and had fallen out of its bracket. That was only the start. It was an engine swap, so there was a verbal agreement if they installed it, they were not responsible for if it started. Fair enough, and upon install it didn't start. I took it to the Land Rover dealership and they immediately found a ground strap was installed incorrectly. Allen only gave me back $200 of the $300 I had to shell out for a job I paid his shop to do. Since then I have been troubleshooting the swap, but have found multiple installation failures due to Allen's mechanics. Multiple plugs were not re-plugged in as I have found over the past several weeks. I also discovered one of the coolant hoses they did not put a clamp on and once the heat built up it popped off, effectively overheating the $10k engine I had them install. The owner, Allen, lacked meaningful responses when texting for updates, would not hurry and get it done, then once done said he wanted it out of his shop ASAP despite having taken their sweet time to get it in. It does not take two months to get it in. You decide if you want work done on you car by a place like this. I should have listened to the other reviews when choosing this place. read more

My girlfriend purchased a car here this past winter. There is a lot of good with this lot and a few bad. First the good. What you see is what you get. The price on the car is the price you pay. This is a no haggle lot. If you don't like the car shopping experience because of the haggling over pricing and wondering if you are getting ripped off, then this lot is for you. I knew the price of the vehicle instantly, as well as complete records of everything Allen Automotive did do get the car ready for sale. Upon closer inspection I was able to determine that all records were accurate. In the end I feel like we got a good deal on a good car. The Bad: Allen Automotive offers a limited warranty on every car sold. You get 50% off parts and labor for 2 years. This also extends to other vehicles you own. After taking the vehicle purchased above in for a service issue, it was unresolved after throwing $200 at the car. This left me questioning the expertise of Allen Automotive's mechanical staff. So in the end, if you want to have a good car buying experience on a low cost vehicle, then this is the place. However I'd avoid servicing it here if you have to. read more

Remember you get what you pay for. The owner of Allen automotive, Brad Allen practices bait and switch tactics promises one price than doubles it after he has your car, then lies about the repairs and condition of the vehicle. Brad stated that the work that was previously done on my car was done incorrectly. He in fact went so far as accusing my previous mechanic who installed the power steering rack that had since failed, of gross negligence, leaving my car in an it almost un-repairable state with stripped bolts and damaged connectors. Brad then told me I need to go to my previous mechanic and make them pay for the additional amount he was attempting to charge me for the repairs. However, when I advised Brad that the previous mechanic is a European specialty mechanic with certifications and I have used him for over ten years, Brad then stated that he remembers that I told him that I had done the repairs myself and that I told him this and that I even knew it was damaged and that's why I was bringing it to his shop to fix. I told him I never said any such thing, Brad Allen then goes on to state that "if" he had ONLY known that was the case, he never would have taken on the job...but wait five minutes ago didn't you just say that I told you that was the case when I brought you the car and that's the reason I was bringing it to your shop??? like I said he is dishonest, so much so he could not even keep his lies straight. When I refused to pay the inflated invoice Brad Allen reduced the invoice, then told me to just pay it, get out, and don't ever come back....as if there was a chance of me ever coming back after this fiasco. After I picked up the car and I discovered it was barely drive-able. I have several warning lights on now for steering/traction control failures as well as loose steering. I took it to the shop that had previously done alignment and they advised me that they can't complete an alignment in the condition the previous mechanic (and I use that term loosely) left it in. My car is currently at the original mechanics repair shop who installed the power steering rack. He is making a list of damages caused by Allen Automotive's shoddy work.... like I said you get what you pay for I tried to save some cash and will end paying more in the end...avoid Allen Automotive they are not a trust worthy business and the owner Brad Allen is dishonest. read more

I couldn't have had a better experience purchasing from Allen Automotive if I had dreamed it up myself. What a delight! Everyone was courteous, well-informed, and fun. I had fun buying my car. I really felt appreciated. We researched cars on consumerreports.org for months trying to find the most reliable/professional looking car for our buck. We settled on a 2007 Lexus RX 350. Finding the car was easy on cars.com. Unlike other dealers and private owners, Allen Automotive supplied us with the full carfax. Those are expensive. Purchasing a carfax can cost near $30-$40 for just one. Allen Automotive offered it willingly. The previous owner took impeccable care of the vehicle and this is the nicest car I've ever purchased. Another plus was that we reviewed the dealer price on Kelly bluebook (kbb.com/used-cars) and found that for the mileage and year Allen Automotive was selling it under the Kelly blue book value. Both my husband and I took the car for a test drive. I loved it. It had a lot of power and was so nice inside. We expressed an interest and asked even though they have their own repair shop, would they mind if we took it to our mechanic to inspect it. We take all our possible car purchases to Shore Tire in Lenexa. Mitch at Shore inspected the SUV and found absolutely nothing wrong with it. He said it's a "winner". The 2007 Lexus' didn't have a timing belt so there wouldn't be an expensive ($900) replacement service to undertake. Instead it has a drive belt. We'd have to replace it in 6 months and the price would come in under $200. Very affordable. I brought the car back and put a deposit on it. We came back the following day and bought the car. The deposit went towards the cost of the car. Allen Automotive is outstanding. I will definitely send friends, family and anyone who asks me to them. A bonus ... Allen Automotive put new brake pads and gave it an oil change prior to us picking it up. "Very Cool!" There are bad dealers out there and really bad cars. Do your homework, research online, and take the vehicle in to be inspected by an outside company. You'll be glad you did. We are! --- Shore Tire has saved us from ourselves so many times. When searching for an Odyssey in 2015, we brought in 5 different cars to Shore Tire to be inspected. All the cars but one stunk. Shore is going to tell you like it is. Of course they will not have the latest in diagnostics and service performance. As far as warranty goes, it is quite generous considering if you bought from an individual you would have no warranty. With their pricing leaning toward the wholesale side, this is an economic alternative to buying direct. My son and i purchased a 2004 Gmc canyon from allen automotive in September 2014. The check engine light stated coming on a few months after buying it. Took it to several places, they said there was a misfire. Took it to a local mechanic and they finally got into it and said the engine had low compression. Said that it would be better to take it to a dealership to get repairs, but did give me an estimate. I took it to Brad Allen and he could barely believe that the repairs were that much. So, i went ahead and took it to a chevrolet dealer and they confirmed the problems. They said that the problems uncovered should have obvious to someone in the car dealer business. (Another dealership in the area said gmc canyons are notorious for these problems.) They called the warranty company that i purchased a $1500 warranty from, on Brad Allens suggestion, but alas, nothing was covered by this warranty. I took the paperwork of repairs back to Mr. Allen and he told me that i bought a used car and thats exactly what i got. That replacing a whole top engine, transmission system and differentials on both axels is just normal wear and tear on a truck we've had for 5 months. No empathy at all. We were only expecting to have at least partial compensation considering it is used. NOPE...Instead he just told us to leave his lot. He's a lying, sleazy, stereotypical used car salesman. I will not give up on this. I believe i was totally taken advantage of. I can't afford to pay an extra $8000 in repairs on a truck i owe $1300.00 on. I suggest you think twice about this place. I can't believe all these good reviews. When i posted on facebook, i got nothing but people responding to me with similar issues. check google reviews of this company he doesn't seem to be all there all i did was drive through his lot looking for an ad vehicle ( that was not there ! ) he took a picture of my tag and he posted on google that i was a thief and to stay off his lot among other things . in an earlier phone call to dealer he offered to sell me a vehicle with the bumper in the back seat for twice what the vehicle was worth i want a whole car not cars you buy from the scrap yards and put partially back together , buyer beware ! every car on his lot has lots of problems not all obvious and i notice the statement to call the police if i was seen on the lot and to stay off your lot and street had been removed from an earlier post from you on google review but you do not own the street ! and i did copy your previous rambling i can't make you honest but perhaps a little truth to the public will help and now in his response he is calling me a weird person because i looked at his lot ? not only is he is a typical lying salesman but he seems to have anger issues too . do not be duped !! read more
