Marlon, Sam and staff are all very competent and excellent technicians I went in for an oil and filter on my 02 Toyota Tacoma and they noticed I needed a new drivers door handle. I mentioned it was sticking and hard to open. They diagnosed the problem sent me a detailed estimate which was very fair. I approved it. Since Charlie retired it is obvious that Marlin does not seem to want to retain his customers. Went to get my battery charged until I can buy a new one. He wanted $145 to charge a battery. He told me mechanics are expensive. To charge a battery you need to remove it from the car (easy to do), and connect cables to the charge for an hour. $145 is a rip off. Second asked him about a price for a new battery, $245 plus tax. AAA came and got my battery going at home so I could drive it to the garage. They told me their price is $193 including tax and a 3 year guarantee. I need to find a new mechanic. I might point out Marlin formerly was with a large car dlealership I believe BMV. He obviously brought his talents and their pricing with him. read more

I realized the ownership was changed and the new owner Marlon was very nice and knowledgeable , he diagnosed the problem very fast and arranged to fix the car immediately. The most honest car mechanics you'll find! Charlie and his guys always give fair prices and do great work. Some mechanics will try to get you on ridiculous charges or even make stuff up - which is exactly what happened to me somewhere else, The "fake" problem I had would have cost me $500, but Charlie and Doug fixed the real problem for only $42!! I have a leased car from a local dealership and was having problems with my windshield wiper fluid. The dealership told me that someone must have backed into me and cracked the reservoir because the fluid was leaking all over and the reservoir showed signs of damage. They told me a new reservoir and the labor would have cost close to $500. Very skeptical I went to Charlie, low and behold a hose was broken! No signs of damage to the reservoir! Only cost me $42! Thank god for Charlie and Doug!! read more

Been a resident in town over 20 years and always thought of Allendale Auto as a reputable garage. Bought a used car 2 years ago and have been to this garage a couple of times for repairs. Last year I caught the mechanic joy riding in my car going 80 on rt 17 .... there was no reason to be driving the car (I have a tracking device). Recently I had issues with the car shifting gears. After 2 weeks with this garage and their trusted transmission garage I was told I needed a new transmission for $4K. I took the car back and brought to another mechanic. It was the timing belt at a fraction of the cost. The car has been running great. Allendale Auto is either dishonest or not competent....... neither is good. My advice is to get a second opinion before paying for a big repair at Allendale Auto. read more
