I used Yelp to find this Mercedes-Benz service specialist. I decided to take my newly bought "used car" for them to check it out. Don't let the dated, cramped up exterior doubt you. First of all, they are right next to (NJ Rt.17) highway exit - how convenient. After you tell (Frank) manager your problem, he's very detailed in explaining the ways to go about fixing it. He would advise the most urgent first and note to you on possible parts replacement that might cost a bit. You might have to bring it in a few times, but it also gives you the time to think if you want to fix it. After the first repair experience, it's not just a receipt, it's a detailed service record you can keep for future. Manager Frank, (I said, he's a Jay Leno, look-alike, a little...!), he took the car for a quick test drive around after repair, raised the car up on jacks, and even pointed out things that need further attention. The cost of maintenance/repair for an older Mercedes-Benz can be expensive. However, with service guys who know the details, just like the car itself, you can worry less, continue to drive your 3-pointed star much further than you think. read more

If you own a Mercedes-Benz, and the car is past warranty, this is the place to get it repaired and maintained. Jim Bell is the owner, but Frank seems to run the place on a daily basis. They do good,honest and reliable work here at reasonable (for Mercedes) prices. I do most of my own work, but when there's a job too big for me, or I'm feeling lazy (or am especially busy) I bring my cars here. They actually bought TWO of the star testers from Mercedes, the same ones dealers use, not many places have even one. Never had a problem with anything they've done, and i started coming here 10 years ago. Once, they charged me about $500 for a rear wheel bearing replacement (it is a big job, and I thought the price fair), and the next day Frank called and said they accidentally overcharged me! Hey, this was paid, done and happy, so they didn't have to say a word, but they made it right. They are in an old 3-bay gas station across the street from Lord & Taylor's at the "Fashion Center" mall, just east of Route 17 at Ridgewood Ave. Kind-of divey looking, but it's a car repair shop, not Nordstrom. Call before you show up, they are busy enough that it might take 3 or 4 days to get your car in there - and there's a good reason for that... read more

I have had a few Benz now. I currently have an AMG car that was only ever serviced by the dealer. However after multiple issues with the local dealer in Paramus I could no longer bring it there. By issues I mean actually getting my car back with the check engine light on after it was brought in for an oil change and valve cover gaskets. When the car was picked up they left emissions tubing on my floor and told me they didn't know who touched the car and where that all was supposed to go....I began to laugh since all the tubing ran along the valve cover and had to be removed when they changed the gaskets. The valve cover bolts themselves were barely hand tight. This being said I spoke to a supervisor and after looking into it he said that they would take care of it and eat the cost to repair it.....I laughed because they never fixed it......so needless to say I don't trust them. That is an example of just one issue.....I don't mind paying for good work. Bell has always been very honest and forth coming with every thing that they do. Most importantly they know benz and only use oem parts. No crap aftermarket stuff. This is important especially if you have a car you want to hang onto for a while. I have 7 cars and these are the only guys I trust with my Benz. Don't bother shopping around and looking for someone else. It would be a waste of time. They know Benz and they are very fair with their prices. read more

After Benzel Busch could not get it running satisfactorily, Bells took my 1973 MB 450 SL apart and put it back together after it sat idle in the garage for 6 years.
