This a post for my wife Kayla, who doesn't have yelp. Today I went to pick up flowers for my late grandmas birthday. When I walked in the door I was met with silence in an empty store. I grabbed a rose special and was surprised to find out they were charging for filler. See I was an employee at Allen's 10 years ago. So I was just surprised, not bothered to pay it. Holly who was working the register, made zero eye contact and spoke to me like she wished I would leave and our interaction would be over with. The girl in the back, Hailey looked at me complete irritation when I asked if I had met her before. As a former employee, this is completely unacceptable. They should have zero customer service interaction happening. As a customer, I will never be going back to the La Mesa store. Snobby and rude is putting it lightly. The variety of flowers here is great and we love that they have a 1/2 price happy hour daily after 3. One of my daughter's favorite things is picking out her own flowers to make bouquets and this is perfect for her. The staff is always helpful and kind and the prices for the make your own are quite reasonable. We love having this place close by! read more

I called direct from Seattle to order flowers for a relative in the hospital in La Mesa. i had been given an incorrect address for the delivery , so Hugo, the driver, called me to help figure out where she was and get the flowers to her. He took the time to go above and beyond and I so appreciate it. They are on the pricier side, but we have never had a problem with quality or timelines. The pricing is very clear and they often send discounts via email. Additionally, they have a rewards program that will offer discounts. Most recently, I ordered my mom lilacs for her birthday. The delivery man was so kind and she was so excited to receive them. We went to Allen's for my father's funeral planning and we walked in not knowing left from right because my family has always been frugal to the max. The idea of spending over $100 on flowers was always an outrageous concept to them but in this situation, we all wanted to provide the best for my dad. So we found ourselves at Allen's and I'm glad we decided on them. The store itself is gorgeous and it had a calming aura bursting with the myriad of flowers being arranged behind the scenes. As far as the customer care, I can say that my mom is elderly and easily confused but the staff was helpful and they explained the choices to her with a lot of patience and care. Everything we wanted to order was fulfilled beautifully by the time of my dad's service. Overall, our experience with Allen's was stellar and they delivered everything on time and to the right location which really put us at ease. They try to get every single penny out of you if you want flowers delivered. They can guarantee a certain day but for a little extra money, they can deliver in a certain time frame. Make sure you check the spelling on everything because that's likely to be incorrect. The storefront does not send out the bouquets from the store for delivery--that's done by another Allen's Flowers. The person who was behind the counter and took my order wasn't really friendly and didn't smile. Maybe they were having a bad day but customers notice things like this. I was the only person in the store and it seemed like I was such a bother! Regarding delivery: Noting that the bouquet was left outside the door of the business, when the business is closed, is obviously very bad form on their part. Helllooooo, the building is closed! I planned to dispute the charges if contacting management was unsatisfactory. As it happens, I shared my dissatisfaction with management who tried a number of different 'offers' in an escalating attempt to pacify me (I was hoppin' mad!), none of which were satisfactory. When I mentioned how they could make it right, there was polite pushback. Eventually management and I got on the same page to make me a satisfied customer however, as I mentioned to the person in charge, I was not ever going to do business with Allen's Flowers again. Aside from the runaround trying to make me a satisfied customer (not ever going to happen), the manager was professional. As always, your mileage may vary. read more

Let me preface this review with I am an "Ex" wedding producer & "Ex" florist. My son brought me flowers for Mothers Day, the most stunning bouquet I've ever received. Eight days later my flowers (stargazers) are still blooming and have 1/2 roses still serving me sass when most bouquets last maybe 5 days yours are still bringing me joy. I said then I can only buy a portion of what I had picked out in loose flowers or they would have to ring up two separate purchases. They said no. Why not? These people don't like money? There was no reason to tell me no they couldn't sell to me. They just would rather put the flowers away than ring up two purchases. When I said just forget it and walked out, I heard, okay bye! What are you in business for then? I won't be back. I can get just as beautiful flowers that last longer across the street at Vons or at the Farmer's Market and buy direct. Several issues with this floral order. My floral order was supposed to be delivered on Mar 11 and it never showed up. No phone call or email with an update, just customer neglect. I submitted a customer service inquiry online and followed up with a call the next morning to request an update. There was no explanation provided for why the flowers for MY MOTHER'S 73rd BIRTHDAY didn't show up on the scheduled date, but I was assured they would be delivered by noon the following day (Mar 12). The arrangement was delivered looking NOTHING like the picture advertised! That thing looked carelessly thrown together and definitely NOT a $150 arrangement! I've used Allen's Flowers in the past and have always adored the quality delivered. This delivery, to the contrary, was a complete mess! I understand that things happen sometimes, but this was unacceptable from start to (eventual) finish. I'd like a refund because at this point, I'm likely to never use Allen's Flowers again, unfortunately. After this experience, I cannot trust the service or quality. read more

The customer service and professionalism at this store is horrible. Hailey has the worst attitude of all of them. I went in today to get my wife some flowers for Valentine's Day and Hailey refused to arrange the flowers i picked out how i wanted them. She claimed that they were too busy however i was one of 2 customers in the store. She then tried to tell me that arranging the flowers how i wanted would take over 20 minutes. The older guy stepped in and ended up doing it in less than 5 minutes. Overall not satisfied with the experience. I had a death in my family so I went on-line to order an arrangement to be delivered. I paid $234.00 for what was advertised as a beautiful floral bouquet in a vase. Don't order their graduation leis. It will not even make it one hour. String showing and flowers limp on one side. My ceremony was only 2 hours long and there was no reason why it shouldn't have lasted. Called them the next day and was given an email to send pictures and no one ever called me back. Talk about awful customer service. I put in an order for my parents 45th anniversary to have a bottle of wine, chocolate and flower deliver on their anniversary and they failed to make the delivery. When I contacted them explained it was because my credit card that I had use that same day for another transaction didn't go through, even thought they sent a confirmation email!!! They also claimed in stead of just apologizing on their end that the sent an email and called me on the phone. They claimed the phone number I use 50 times a day said invalid number and i never got an email though their emails replying to my complaint came right through! My sister used Allen's flowers to send a 50th anniversary Yellow roses to us. They were gorgeous! After 4 days I had dead roses! I could not believe it. (Roses are not cheap). I called the Shop to tell them. They requested a photo. They apologize to me and gave me options for a new arrangement to be sent out. The quality of the flowers and vase is great and I am very happy with my purchase but I wasnt very happy with the delivery time. I paid for sunday delivery but they dont specify the time frame.
