Allergy & Asthma Specialists Ltd. is located at the corner of First Colonial Rd. and Old Donation Pkwy. in Virginia Beach. This is in the Professional Center East Business Area. It is basically across the street from Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. My most recent visit here was on August 4, 2026. The outside of the place looks like most other medical practices in the area. The building is one story. On all the visits I have been here, I have not had any issues with parking availability, even when it was at a busier time. Be careful when entering and exiting from the door facing First Colonial Rd. as there is a big step to come in and out of there. Once inside, there was a good amount of seating available, though it can be tight when it's busy in there. The visits are for both office visits and shots only visits. After asking for an allergy specialist referral from my PCP, I was referred to this place. My first visit here was on April 16, 2026. The front desk isn't hard to find when you come in. The left window is for checking into getting shots only and the right window is for those that are coming in for an office visit. Overall, my interactions with the staff overall have been excellent. The doctor that I was assigned here and am currently seeing to this day is Dr. Craig Koenig. The only thing I knew about allergies were that they have been bad for me quite a while, which is why I was calling it hell-ergies. On every office visit, you'll have to fill out a general info questionnaire. The first visit will also entail the general med checks, such as weight and blood pressure. After that, it was time to go to a patient room and meet the doctor. The encounter with Dr. Koenig was great. As a part of the first visit, I did take the full allergy testing, which would help down the line knowing what my allergies were, and they were known that same day. After that was done, he went over the process for allergy shots. There were a few options. The first one is the traditional once a week shot to get to the maintenance level, which can take up to 30 weeks or so or go with the rush immunotherapy, where multiple shots are done at a time to get to the maintenance level faster. In the end, I decided to go with the rush immunotherapy. Since there could be issues with rush (clustering) immunotherapy, I was prescribed Epipens in case it is needed. About a month later in May, the immunotherapy clustering process began. Since it's the clustering, it is part of an office visit rather than just a visit for shots. The process would be to have 8 to 12 shots at a time with each clustering visit. They would be spaced out to two shots every 30 minutes. These would occur a week apart. Up until the fourth time, I had no major reactions to the shots. On that fourth round of updosing, I started breaking out in hives and was turning red. They did inject epinephrine a few times to get it under control, but I did not experience any anaphylaxis. I was there for about six hours or so, but everything was done well with care and concern too. There was a definite genuine concern for my health when the outbreak happened. This is what makes this a great place for allergy shots. After this incident, we went to single weekly shots, but it only took six weeks to make it to maintenance level after that, so it was still much faster than doing it once a week. Since being on the maintenance dosing, I haven't had any issues or reactions except for the usual rash for about a day after the shots. I've noticed the after effects have been less with each shot now, and hopefully it stays that way. I'll be back in October 2026 for a follow up after having the shots now for several months. One thing to note is that some days the wait for the shots can be longer as the ones administering the shots are the nurses also working the office visit appointments too. Overall, I have had great experiences here with all of the staff and the process of getting the shots. I have felt the immediate relief too. I used to clog up in the nose when going outside, but that has not been the case since being on the allergy shots. If you're looking for a place for allergy shots or testing, this place is worth coming to. read more

Good quality of service and a doctor I saw was very attentive. She took her time. She seemed to legitimately worried about my care. The care I received was great. The office was clean and the people were very courteous. I went there for a breathing problems and they helped out. I recommend this place if you're having trouble. So far so good! In December I came for an allergy test because mine have been continually getting worse over the last 3 years and I sneeze uncontrollably now without medicine. I saw Dr. Koenig who is very friendly and answers tons of questions and provides a lot of info in his consultations. I had the full spectrum allergy test with scratch and then needles where it was like 50 small injections on both arms. I'm allergic to quite a bit apparently so they suggested some shots to boost my tolerance for hiking and outdoor running. I was conscious of my deductible which I had met for the year - the allergy test itself is really expensive - think $900 or so. And then the vials for injections are around $800. Getting the shots are like $30 or so ($15) per arm I think. So it can be really really expensive if you aren't well covered or if you have a high deductible so be mindful of that. Ask lots of questions. The finance ladies in the back were awesome and very upfront about costs - running exact numbers per my insurance for me for my copay. I've come back so far for 3 injections and it's a walk-in method where you don't have to call ahead or schedule it as long as you show up about 30 minutes before they close. You write your name down on a clipboard and they call you back about 10-15 minutes later. They ask you to wait about half an hour after to make sure you don't have a reaction and you're good to go! They're fast and efficient and all the nurses have been really really friendly. So far so good and I'm really happy I decided to do this for myself. read more

Well, I had an appointment at 2pm on Friday and on the paperwork states to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment. I showed up there and the place is closed. I called and on the recorded message states they close from 12-2 on Mondays so, I waited to talk to someone and she confirmed that the officlose for lunch everyday. So, far I haven't even seen the doctor and I am already disappointed because I could have definitely take advantage of those 30 min. I do not appreciate when people do not respect my time. Very much on my last leg with this location, Like I've been going here for years and I'm deeply considering driving way out to the downtown norfolk location....This one has fallen off entirely, the lack of communication mentioned in my last review are still loudly apparent, There's still enough new staff in/out with a high turnover rate. I cant tell you how many times view seen them forgot people they've marked off to get shots, patients end up getting upset because they see everyone coming in and out while they're essentially forgotten about until they say something. Its happened to me many times as well, Your best bet is to sit directly in front of the receptionist area and check in if you've been sitting longer than normal/see people that came in after you going ahead of you. Ive even seen one lady bring a high lighter and put it over her name to make sure it draws attention (the receptionists normally mark out names of checked in patients names with a black pen.....I guess you have to get creative at this office or go elsewhere.... read more

I love Dr Lisa .. she is wonderful and kind and understanding. My main problem is the front check in area I have a real problem with Renee! She is very rude every time i go there I have complained to nurses there and they agree with me . I believe that when you go to the doctor how you are gretted and treated is a reflection on the business. So for this reason I am giving them 1 star read more

I can't thank Dr. Moss and all the nurses there enough for taking such good care of my son. They are welcoming, super sweet and patient. Dr. Moss always takes time to answer my questions and I never feel I'm rushed. It is the best allergy team in town! The only thing I don't like is the front desk ladies when you walk out to check out. They are cold and act like we're bothering them most of the time. Today my son went by to say hi to one of the ladies there, guess what? She turned around, look my son through the corner of her eye and went back to eating her cake without saying a word! I am currently having a great experience here! When I first had issues with severe allergies, they were able to squeeze me onto the schedule right away! I felt very comfortable and well informed. The ladies at the front desk take the time to converse with you. They have even started calling me by my first name every time I check in and always have wonderful compliments. :) The staff here is very friendly! Even though I'm only in there for a short period of time each time I get my allergy injections, I enjoy speaking with the staff.
