Few allergists in the area and these guys are pretty great. Got poked with needles 50 times and now I know I'm allergic to half a dozen things. 5/5 will pay money to get poked again. (I think they do a buncha other allergy things too but I'm just here for a test + getting treated). read more

We were referred for my son. Shortly after we made the appointment we received a packet in the mail to fill out before the appointment which was great. We were also told that we needed to be there 30 mins before the appointment. We got there early and turned in the packet and just sat and waited for so long since there was nothing needed so I'm not really sure why it was required to be there at least 30 mins before. Once we got in the room the doctor asked me very few questions that was literally in the paperwork in his hand that I had filled out. We spent maybe 5 minutes with the doctor for literally nothing. It was a very bad experience and a waste of time and money. We will be finding somewhere else to go. Also the doctor made us feel very uncomfortable, frequently staring at my teen daughter even though she wasn't the patient and sitting in the corner and the appointment was for my 3 year old son and she was very uncomfortable and asked me when we got to the car why he was looking at her so much, so the fact she was aware of it too is a huge red flag. While the people who work here are very nice I am uncomfortable with the fact that they are not computerized. I also am disappointed that I was not called with the lab results. I was referred to Dr. Bellak from my doctor and I had such a great experience with him. He really took the time to not only speak with me about my eczema concerns but he also listened to me and advocated for me as a fellow eczema sufferer. He listed out all the treatment options available for me and helped me find the right treatment plan for me. He even believes in Topical Steroid Withdrawal and a lot of doctors don't believe that it exists and that made me feel seen as a patient. I highly recommend going to him over any dermatologist. 5/5! read more

I didn't even make it in the door, first the call me the Friday before my appointment which was on Tuesday and they are closed Monday and tell me my insurance isn't good. So I call them back with the information on how to validate the insurance, this information was never passed on which I was unaware of because I never got another call. The day of my appointment I get a call saying I was late. TOTALLY MY FAULT, but I beg them please let me come I've been sick for months and all thenonther Dr's I've seen say it's allergies. Nope sorry you have to reschedule, I beg please I'm on my way I wait 2 weeks, I got the date mixed up, nope reschedule. I have been suffering from allergies lately. I have found a wonderful place to go that I am very comfortable with!! Dr. Bellak, listened to me and within 10 days, I was back having the allergy testing done. Great news, we have a game plan and a solution to making me feel better. Shout out to Dr. Bellak for caring, listening, and following up!!! Just as important, the team that is inside the office, greeting us, explaining our insurance and being up front of how much we will need to pay. While they are doing their jobs, it is a well oiled machine and everyone knows what they are doing. Lots of awesome communication. I've only been there a few times, but acknowledged and kept in the loop. I will be spending a lot of time with these great people and wanted to share the little "gem" I found. Wow, really bad reviews the whole 2 that were written! Well, I was getting really bad headaches. I was sneezing all day for weeks. I felt really sick all the time, my mother in-law suggested that I go see an allergy specialist so I called up my insurance and asked them which doctors were in-network. Allergy and asthma associates came up. Perfect very close to my house. Saw Dr. Shapiro hope I didn't mis-spell his name I've only been seeing him for 2 years now. Anyway. He is a very serious man, but he gets down to business. Nothing wrong with that. He asks questions and I was answering he asked me what I think I'm allergic to and I told him so he set up an appointment for me to get scratched to determine what I was really allergic to. Blah blah. Well turns out I'm allergic to every native plant, tree, bush in Nevada. Yay lucky me. So he started my shot sessions and I haven't had a headache in two years from allergies. At first I thought the doc was too serious, but once you get to know him he lightens up. He was joking with my daughter and I was taken back because I was like uhhhh did he just crack a joke. Haha. Well anyway he has saved my life. I highly recommend them. Oh and the staff are super super nice. Including all the nurses. Super nice. read more

Do not come here!!! They send a huge packet of medical history and insurance paperwork in the mail to fill out ahead of time and mail back to them. This seems like a good idea that would save time. But when we finally were seen, the doctor pulled out the packet and asked me the same questions I already answered in the packet and then asked me to come back after he has time to study my son's medical history. So, now we pay for 2 (expensive) consultation appointments. We show up for his second appointment only to be told he wants to schedule a 3rd appointment to test what my son is allergic to. I already had told him my son had asthma and was allergic to peanuts. So we go and get the test (very expensive). He tells me, "well he's definitely allergic to peanuts and has asthmatic issues", doesn't prescribe anything new and only says we should come back in a few years. My insurance at the.time sucked and there was alot of run around trying to pay for the allergy test. Fast forward 2years, we live in a different city now. And today, a police officer shows up at my door with summons from this office to collect a $400 debt from this office. We already paid a ton of money for absolutely no results or answers to this office, gave them my insurance info, and 2 years later they find us and hire a state attorney to collect what they couldn't from my insurance....Unbelieveable. All this is besides the terrible bedside manner and the fact that you wait over an hour even though they ask you to show up 30 minutes early.... read more

I've been dealing with some allergy issues over the past few months and was referred here by my primary. On my first visit I felt like Dr. Munoz really took the time to ask about my allergies and reactions and really get to know me in the process. I went in for allergy testing and we came up with an allergy shot plan to get my allergies in check. So far, I can't speak to the effectiveness of the shots, as I've only had two. But all of my interactions with the staff over my various appointments have been very pleasant. Everyone has taken extra care to explain all procedures and pricing to me and answered my questions when they arose. They've even been very responsive with out of office questions that arose free certain appointments. I think this is a great option to get your asthma and allergy needs addressed. It's always been extremely easy to schedule an appointment and the pricing is rather fair in my opinion. read more

I don't even know where to start. Upon checking in, I was told I had to pay a copay - which is totally fine- but in a world with HRA plans at the beginning of the calendar year and insurance plans that pay 100%, I advised my insurance would pay in full. The gal advised me that it was the doctor's policy to collect a copay whether they have one or not, and then said "if you don't agree with it, you can not be seen and pay the $25 no-show cancel fee instead." I completely understand being precautionary and the doctor collecting the coinsurance upfront - but the staff should be encouraged to show a little bit of empathy and not be snarky and rude on a patient's first visit (or any visit!) We saw the doctor for a total of 5 minutes... Within 5 minutes of the appointment time - which is what justifies even 1 star- but then were told we had to stand in a narrow hallway to check-out. There was a line with 2 people ahead of us to check out. We were not acknowledged by anyone - other than other workers asking us to move out of their way so they could bring patients from the waiting room to the exam rooms. After TWENTY MINUTES of employees avoiding the checkout line - and not being acknowledged and having employees avoid eye contact - I finally walked out. This prompted the check out lady to run out the door chasing me to get my paperwork. She apologized for our bad experience - which also supports the single star rating... If I could have rated zero stars, I would have. I waited 3 weeks for this appointment and will not be returning. Tip to the doctors: your office staff is clearly under appreciated and have zero expectations for providing customer service. Empathy and acknowledgement go far in this world. And I will drive across town to another doctor that's not as convenient to avoid ever stepping in your office again. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. They told me I had to be to my appt 30 minutes ahead of time, I ended up waiting 45 minutes to be seen, 30 minutes for nothing and then another 15 to be seen. Secondly, I was sent to the Carson City office of Allergy & Asthma Associates and was told they accepted my insurance however they don't and neglected to tell me this until after my appointment wanting me to pay them more money for a worthless visit. I will admit, I was a little leery of this place based on the reviews, but this is where my pediatricians office sent my daughter for her allergies and asthma. The staff was really nice, and informative on the process of being tested for the allergies and the asthma. We saw Dr. Lokshin, I think he is just straight up and to the point, which I don't mind. I see a lot of people complaining about his bedside manner, but I thought he was just being honest. How do I even start this? I visited Dr. Lokshin today. My appointment started out well, the front desk ladies were kind. I filled my paper work out and they called me back. I come in and explain why I'm here today-- an allergic reaction. He asks what I feel when I have a reaction. I started with "Well, I feel horrible-" and he just completely cuts me off right there. "Okay, but I need you to say what you're feeling. 'Horrible' is not a medical term." I was extremely shocked that he said that right to me. I explain what I was feeling, and that he shouldn't cut me off while I'm talking again. He continues to make sarcastic and extremely rude remarks. It felt like he was talking down to me, he was so condescending. I came in today to get a note for an accommodation, but he told me that he "would not write a note with a lie on there. It's not right." I wasn't asking for a lie! Just a note saying what he told me today, and that was it. He was so rude and just kept making fun of what I was saying, and even making fun of what I was wearing! Why would I lie to Yelp? Yes, he made fun of what I wore. I felt embarrassed to come in in the first place, but he made me feel even worse. Doc, just because you've worked hard to get to where you are doesn't mean you are entitled to make others feel stupid. I felt stupid for coming in. I did. He had no customer service skills at all. At the end of the consultation, he got his stuff and left the room, and said goodbye when he was outside. Weird. I read the reviews on here, and only listened to the two reviews that were good. The other eight weigh those two out. I'm serious. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THESE PEOPLE! Your hard earned money deserves to be spent somewhere else more professional with better customer service. Dr Shapiro was absolutely the worst! I should have looked at reviews before wasting my time and money. Like others mentioned, he acted completely bothered by the fact he had to see me. He was not interested in hearing my experience and symptoms and seemed to have already decided I just had a cold. My experience/symptoms that I tried explaining to him included facial swelling, left eye almost swollen shut, lips swollen, tongue and lip numbness, chest tightness, hives literally head to toe in huge swollen patches. All of this accrued after taking a new medication. He told me I had "acute hives due to a cold". What a joke!! God forbid I have a worse reaction in the near future because of his negligence! I wish I had never brought my child here. We never got a true diagnosis which may have been difficult for any doctor. Dr. Shapiro has terrible bedside manner. He seemed smart and asked a lot of questions, but I always felt a bit looked down upon. child's waiting room is sparse and not clean. I feel like the staff and doctor did not talk to one another because I always had to ask for certain appointments. I cancelled an appointment through the text system, called to make a new appointment and they said it registered as no call no show even though I got a confirmation text that it had been cancelled. Rescheduled the appointment. Then got a call from the office manager telling me she was cancelling my daughter's appointment and referring her to our primary care doctor, due to a no call, no show and because I had rescheduled the appointment once before. It was a strange and rude conversation. Then, they spent another $6.59 to send me a certified letter saying that they"regret to inform me" that they are dropping my daughter as a patient. The good: The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The bad: I had to arrive 30 minutes before my appointment despite them mailing me the paperwork to fill out. This resulted in me sitting in the empty waiting room for 30 minutes. I believe this is standard practice for every appointment, not just new patients. Dr. Shapiro was less than friendly, very matter-of-fact and almost made me feel like my allergies were in my head, despite having suffered from them for 15 years. Apparently I passed his test because I was informed that they would in fact schedule an appointment for me to be tested....wait..what? I thought that's why I was there? Nope, I was only there to answer a barrage of questions (the answers could have been found on the paperwork I filled out) I would have to return to get the actual allergy testing done. 2 co-pays is the only reason I can see for this. They told me it was because I needed to stop taking any medication 7 days prior but they also booked this appointment over a month ago and couldn't they have told me then? In this grand age of insurance company red tape and referrals I am stuck with Dr. Shapiro, so I will go with hope that he gets away with being cold and unfriendly because he is really good at what he does. read more

As many have said on their reviews Dr Shapiro has no bedside manners. My son has a tree but allergy and eczema. Anytime I have a question about anything, he looks at me as if I'm already supposed to know the answer to it. When it comes to your kids there is no such thing as a stupid question, so humor us and answer the questions no matter how ridiculous it might be. Also, he needs to understand that kids are KIDS, they get into things, run around and make noise. He is so bothered by this and what's sad is that his staff is aware and don't help in any way make you feel comfortable. What made me finally decide to go to a different doctor was this certain incident. My son had pooped and I let the staff know before calling me that I was going to be in the bathroom changing my child. I had left his diaper bag by accident in the car so I ran out and as soon as I walked back in one of them flag me down and asks if I had changed him. I politely said no and she said well Dr Shapiro is ready for him. I told them well does he want to see him with a dirty diaper and she just looked at me dumbfounded and said well he's ready. I said, again, he has a dirty diaper what would you like me to do. She asked how long it would take because he's ready, I was so fed up with this ridiculous conversation that I just said well if he's in that of a hurry then he'll just have to see him with a dirty diaper. She said "fine" rolled her eyes and proceeded to walk me to his office! If I could give them no stars I definitely would. His staff is ridiculous and even more so is he! I took my 5 year old to this office through referral. For treatment and diagnosis of his sudden chronic hives. What should've been my first red flag was that I have double insurance coverage, the lady at the front desk basically forced me to make a co-payment even though its not a mandatory payment with coverage by two insurance companies. But because there where a bunch of people in the waiting room and I wanted my son seen by a doctor, I paid them and figured I'll just get a check at the end of the year when the insurance companies reconcile the monies. Dr. Shapiro basically blew us off. Dr. Shapiro barley looked or even touched my son and sat in his little chair and very smugly said this is Chronic urticaria Idiopathic. This "Just happens" and will go away at some point in his life. No lab work, no questions for me; When did it start? Does he have fevers? Has he had bloodwork done before? Have you tried eliminating foods, lotions, Etc, etc. I explained that since the hives started my son will sometimes suffer from swelling in his face, hands and feet. Nothing made a difference to this man. I left heartbroken. I was pissed that this doctor wouldn't take me seriously. Every question I asked him was responded with a shrug of the shoulders and very nonchalant attitude. As if I were over thinking these rashes all over my child.. I took my son to a different allergist and had lab work done, thank god I did because we now have some answers regarding his VERY SERIOUS thyroid problem and a potential LUPUS diagnosis. This man needs to be retired! He couldn't care less about people. He seemingly only cares about money. Don't waste your time! Dr. Loskin did what than 7 other allergy, pumonology and internists doctors here and out of state could not. DR. LOSKIN CURED MY COUGH! He is patient and he listened to my problem with the mind of a man approaching a mystery and as I told my story he asked many, many questions. He want to solve this mystery and he did! He is a modest man but he is a hero to me. After chronically constantly coughing for over 30 years and never being able to participate in meetings, social events, even go to a movie or sit through my children's concerts, my cough is gone and has not returned. No longer do people at the supermarket don't do u-turns in the aisle to avoid "catching something." THANK YOU DR. LOSKIN. YOU GAVE MY LIFE BACK TO ME AND RESTORED MY SELF-CONFIDENCE! I was scared to go see Dr.Shapiro after reading some of these reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Shapiro is not out to become your best friend, but he is certainly out to get to the root of your problem. He is extremely thorough in his exam, and he takes extensive notes. He is very professional, and he even came to get me in the waiting room himself. He's very traditional, and his knowledge is vast. I feel he listened to me, and he is doing many tests that my primary doctor should have done...not just allergy related, but whole patient care. He is not warm and fuzzy. If you are looking for a "customer service, kiss you behind" kind of doctor- he is not it. What he is, though, is an expert and carries himself as such. Highly recommend him. So we took my son in to see if there were any allergic conditions we should be aware of, the front counter staff was okay, however one young girl was dressed completely inappropriate (cleavage showing). the other women were dressed appropriately. Next was the doctor what a nightmare, Dr. Shapiro was extremely cold rude and would not even say hello almost as if we were waisting his time , he made us feel extremely uncomfortable. So I asked him if myself or my family said or did something to make him upset? He said no and he didn't know why I would feel that way? So I dropped it and just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. He is a older man that I can only hope is nearing retirement, the other thing was he kept calling my son a girl, my son is only a month old and dressed like a boy, so why would he call him a girl? Overall I am extremely dissatisfied and upset with the level of service and so called "care" I received. I had such bad allergies. Basically I felt like I had a cold 10 months out of the year. I had a regimen of Neti pot (lavage) everyday, two to three allergy meds and I STILL had allergy symptoms. It wasn't until Dr. Boris Lokshin that I was able to finally get some relief. I went through the allergy testing and found out that I was allergic to nearly everything in Reno. I began my allergy shots and I can tell you it was single handily the best thing I have ever done for my health. I no longer suffer all year long, I can actually be outside and not sneezing and can actually get through a day without going through a box of tissues. I am no longer miserable here! Yes, I still need to use the neti pot and I'm still on one allergy medicine, but between all of these, I can be outside and happy. It has made my whole life so much better! On top of that, Dr. Locshin and his staff are amazing, friendly, and I like going in there for my shots once to twice a month (I'm on the maintenance shots now). If you have allergies, please do yourself a favor and start the process. You will be so much happier for it! read more

Let me start off by saying what happened to me. I noticed hives covering my body one day and they didn't stop until a week and a lot of steroid shots in the butt later (thank you Urgent Care for saving me!). These hives were bad. Incredibly itchy, and caused my face to swell up before I got the shots. I realized it was time to go to a specialist to figure out what I was allergic to (assumption was I was highly allergic to something)! After my initial meeting with Dr. Like him and going through my medical history (no prior allergies) he told me that it wasn't actually an allergy, it was something in my body acting as an allergy. We weren't sure what was wrong with me, but he prescribed me meds and told me to come back 10 days later to see how that worked. Dr. Lokshin is a very smart man, and he knows what he is doing. I truly do trust him! After my 10 day visit and no hives were back we cut my medication in half and I was only to take it for 2 more weeks then he wanted to see me in a month. The reason for not giving a full 5 stars is that they ding you your copay fee (mine is 70 dollars) every time you have an appointment, even if the appointment is 5 minutes (which my last one was). I can't afford to see him 3 times in 2 months with this charge. If my hives don't come back, I probably won't be either. read more
