But they said I still needed to call my insurance to double check if the insurance will actually cover it. So I call my insurance and the insurance company says "do you have the codes for me to input so I can check?" What codes? What the hell is he talking about? He says the codes and all the information that insurance companies need would be information the doctor's office would generally have. This isn't patient information. This is why he doesn't like it when doctor's offices won't call themselves to verify. This is why doctor's offices SHOULD AND DO call insurance and verify themselves. I was the told I needed to call the doctor's office to get the codes and the insurance company call back. Seriously?! Why should a patient ever need to be the third person who is going between doctor office who has doctor information such as codes for procedures and the insurance? Almost every other doctor and doctor's office I have ever been to does that for the patients!! Needless to say ONE HOUR LATER I cancelled my appt bc I was essentially told by the insurance that bc they don't have the codes from the doctor's office for my procedure, I won't know whether or not my appt will be covered.
